Are we even still doing this?  Come has to make the league since he was the commish last year.  I think we were going to go with standard scoring 5x5 roto league with 10ish people and standard live draft.  It would be ideal to get the draft done next Saturday if we are even doing it.

Wonderful timing, as I'll be free all day Saturday.  You can count on QB, wheat, Youse and I to be there right from the opening minute!

But just to be clear, we HAVE all agreed to the following, right?

- AVG instead of OBP
- back to "standard" lineups (only 3 OF instead of 5 etc)
- 10 Eliter limit

I'll be there! Let me know what time Saturday (remember, Daylight Time).

Yes.  We would all do well to remember it is Daylight Time in most of the country.

If we're only doing 10 players, why not at least have 4 OFs?  And what about the CI/MI positions?

Done!  Saturday at 1PM Eastern (that's noon Ngamer time, 11AM Come time)

You guys should've gotten emails automatically from yahoo on this, so check your yahoo mail or if you didn't get one, let me know.  I only invited enough to fill the 10 spots and only if you were in the league last year.

And you guys have no idea how happy I am that Mauer signed for the Twins long term.  I've waited my whole life (too young to remember Puckett) for a player to stay with the Twins his whole career (Radke retired too early).  I do think he's getting more money than he deserves given he won't play 150 games in a season as a catcher (career high is 146), but the bottom line is people will come to the new ballpark for many years to come.  It's great to act like the Yankees for at least this offseason anyway.

Looks like I had great choices of who to start and who to bench today....my four bench players had 3 more runs than my whole starting team combined, had 4 more HRs, 11 more RBI, and batted .600.... :'(

I would be better off if I hadn't played ANY catcher or second baseman so far.    Getting DL's at very thin positions to begin with really torches your team

I would be a lot better off if I didn't suck really, really bad at fantasy baseball.

On top of that, I'm sick of my team being the potty trainer for MLB players.  Last year, Jonathan Sanchez, Ubaldo, and Jorge DLR all took huge craps on my squad.  This year, they are uber legitimate.  It was the same story last year after Ryan Franklin and Derek Jeter did me dirty in '08, but went on to have good, even outstanding 2009s.  If Alfonso Soriano comes anywhere close to a productive year this year, I will gouge out my eyeballs with my keyboard.  I'll find a way.

In summary, next year you should all target Adam Jones and Nick Markakis in the draft.

Per Jon's request, I'm gonna go through my season-long baseball bets and post some results. I'm pretty sure there's over 100 bets total, with many $10 bets and some $25s and probably more than a few $50s. I'll stick to only $100+ so this doesn't take me several hours. We can just pretend I broke even on the rest!

Roy Halladay - UNDER 18.5 wins - Risked $115 to win $100 - LOSS (currently at 21)
Rich Harden - OVER 10.5 wins - Risked $115 to win $100 - PUSH (5 wins, but had to start at least 25 games for action; he's started 17)
Ben Sheets - OVER 10 wins - Risked $172.50 to win $150 - PUSH (4 wins, but had to start at least 25 games for action, he's started 20)
Jered Weaver - UNDER 15.5 wins - Risked $172.50 to win $150 - WIN (13 wins in 33 starts)

Carlos Marmol - OVER 30.5 saves - Risked $115 to win $100 - WIN (currently at 35)
Billy Wagner - OVER 29.5 saves - Risked $250 to win $200 - WIN (currently at 35)

Milton Bradley OVER 15.5 home runs - Risked $165 to win $150 - PUSH (8 HRs, but had to play 140 games for action; only played 73)

Rajai Davis - OVER 40.5 stolen bases - Risked $230 to win $200 - PROJECTED WIN - (47 steals, but he needs to play in 140 games for action; he's at 138 with 5 games left)

Nick Markakis - OVER 95.5 RBIs - Risked $115 to win $100 - LOSS (57 WTF, all his home runs turned into doubles and his team licks more balls than usual)

So as far as the bigger bets go, that's 4-2-3 for +$420. I was checking out my $75 bets as I was doing this and they seemed to break pretty evenly. There were enough $50 and $25 bets that I could have lost all of the $420 back for all I know.

I've still got these to follow:

New York Yankees UNDER 95.5 wins - Risked $55 to win $50, currently at 94-64 with 1 game @ Tor and a 3 game series @ Bos to go.

Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series - Risked $20 to win $400

Congratulations to Bryan Bosshardt for capturing his 5th consecutive Fantasy Baseball Championship!

(Actually pack won in 2008, but that was the year Boss dropped out to concentrate on Fantasy Golf, so we can't count it against him.)

My bets have all been graded. The smaller bets were good for +$212 so I'm at +$632 with just the Tampa World Series bet to go. I noticed a lot of the bets that were no actioned were really unfortunate for me also, because I was winning most of them and some were very close to having played enough games (at least one had played 139/140 required games). Most of the money I lost was betting on closers. All the saves totals were really low and came with the caveat that the bets would be no actioned if the closer spent any time on the DL during the season. I thought that made it free money to bet the over on everybody but a number of them lost their jobs and finished out the season in middle relief.

per nobody's request

Had a bet on the padres to win the wild card at 50-1 that looked like a total loss three days from the end of the season and then ended up one game away in a one run game on the final day.  In summary, Joe Blanton and Danys Baez will consume my wrath for a long time (probably only slightly less than Youse).

My favorite bet was the max on Jason Bay under 27.5 HR's but he went to the DL so it went inactive.  That was the only way I felt I wouldn't win that one so I had to freeroll and hope the aging guy would actually last a season.

Unfortunately listened to QB on the closer advice but I did stray away from guys I thought would lose their jobs so I didn't get killed there that bad.  Actually all of my wagers kept their jobs, a bunch were on winning teams, never lost that job, and they still didn't make the target save #'s.  Quite ridiculous really.

Went 2-1 on the O/U props at least to save me (the one loss was lower than the individual wins gained)  (rockies wtf happened) but even at the time I thought I should've fired everything on the M's under.  Darn those missed opportunities.

ended down around $150 I believe.  I take a few longshots every year I feel have value like that pads bet so I'll have higher variance but losing is definitely unacceptable.

Yeah, I'm pretty upset the Phillies didn't try any harder to keep longtime division rival Atlanta out of the playoffs, and snuff out the great wife beater's career without the chance for any more glory.

But I'm pretty sure Charlie equally wanted the Reds/didn't want the Giants in the first round.  So losing to Atlanta was the safest play.  (And we still almost won, lol.)  The Braves: a gift to San Fran.  Love, Phila.  Pay us back and have your football team roll over on Sunday Night.  Basically what I mean is, don't have them do anything differently than the first four games.

Time to dominate the head-kicker career-enders!

Are we going with an auction draft next year?  I thought that was pretty fun with fantasy football even though my team is garbage (more from making stupid FA moves and not knowing how to play defenses/kickers).

EAT IT HEAD KICKER

I am in favor of an auction draft for baseball, but only if we can all agree to be there (no Jimbos)
