But first, the time has come to predict how things will go down this year! Remember that the first, Wild Card round goes 5 games, then the League Championship and World Series both go the full 7. Here are the 2006 matchups.

I think the NL is some bullshit. Philly should be in the playoffs, and if they were, I can almost guarantee they'd make the WS. Bad start really cost us.

Stl/SD is basically Minor League playoffs class AAAA...
I can't see StL pulling this off. Yes, they won game 1 with their "stud", but SD has the momentum coming into the series, and I look for them to take it in 5 (I give StL another game due to Pujols) doesn't @#%$ matter who wins this series... because it's then Mets over LA in 4.
Then Mets over SD in 4.

Hmm, Twins/A's is perplexing to me, especially after a hugely unexpected game 1. With Liriano, I unquestionably support the Twinkies. I still think the m&m's put it together and take the series back in the nick of time... Twins in 5.

Then, it's the Yankees over the Twins in roughly 5 games.

In the second subway series in the past decade, the Yanks sweep again, 4-0. Please God, let me be wrong.

Edit: Just want to make it clear that I know Liriano is out, it was a what-if type of statement above (and it was unclear).

here's what we should learn every year because it happens every year...

1) momentum into the postseason means absolutely nothing

2) the playoffs are a complete crapshoot

3) congrats to STL--probably the worst team to ever win the WS and got a hell of a lot of luck to do so. The positive here is that STL will now have to keep La Russa even though he isn't a good manager lol.

4) How in the hell did someone pick STL and even more incredibly someone picked LAD. I'm just stunned by that as those picks defied all sorts of logic. But luckily for the STL picker--so do baseball games a lot of times.

I'd love for you to say that in real life against other people come. "sorry you didn't do that so you can't criticize me" Somehow I don't think that's going to work because you don't have to have done something to know that the way someone did it wasn't optimal. I've never traveled to South Africa yet I somehow know that you can't get there via a car. Obviously that example is extreme but I hope you got the point. However; it's hard to tell sometimes whether you say stuff like that whether you believe it or just trying to get a reaction.

I'm just mad that baseball postseason has turned into hockey in that the luckiest team wins rather than the best team that's all. I'd rather see the best teams play each other at the end but that's not going to happen often anymore under the current sports system.

I think the best thing for all of us from now on is that I just stay out of sports prediction contests here because no matter what happens it's not good for the community so I'll just remind myself not to post in these topics anymore. I don't want to see anyone pick badly and when you don't it's because it seems like some of you aren't picking up on basic ideas and well--those people see the results every time and don't learn--I think it doesn't bode well for any part of your future life.
