Seriously we need new moderators in this forum. GE is by far the most popular forum on these boards, yet it has the fewest moderators. It is apparent that with the recent trolls and ridiculousness, we need more thorough moderation here. So let's talk.

I think we can agree that GE needs at least 4 active mods like GC and PD have, right? Ok, cool.

Current Moderators

Axel Andersson - Great guy. His account hasn't been active since June 2011 though. How is he still a moderator here? He needs to be removed ASAP and replaced.

Jimbo - Fair enough mod. He is active enough in the community so this is reasonable.

Thiradell - Same thing, though he is very busy with school, girlfriend, acting, church and stuff so could possibly use replacing.

Let's look at some possible replacements now.

Suggestions

Axel Z - As the rankings moderator for Goldeneye this makes perfect sense. He can sticky important topics and all that stuff. He is around a lot and has proven himself to be mature and capable.

InkosiDeVinyl - Marc is around the most of anyone (except myself) and I think he's shown himself to be an intelligent and reasonable guy lately. He'd be good for the job.

Mirrormage - He is a very active, young and intelligent man. I think he'd do a great job and do it right.

Karl - You can't really beat Karl when it comes to doing good work.

Anyways, let's use this topic to get some of this off our chest. I know Ngamer and Thingy already told us to email them when we have an issue, so let's just talk in here for a bit and maybe after we throw around some ideas, a few of us will send them an email with our suggestions.

I must admit, I lol'd when you suggested me as a moderator. I'm hoping that was a troll because I'm 100% sure that everyone (including myself) knows that I would not make a good moderator. Plus, I'm sure a bunch of other people are way better for the role than I am like OHMSS, Ace, Clemens, Illu, Luke, Goose, Alex and so on.

I do however, agree that the rest of your suggestions would make excellent GE moderators especially Axel Z.

Illu, Alex and Ace aswell. Not sure about Clemens.

I always thought Axel Z had board moderator access but was never listed as an official mod. I'll be honest though, I think I'm the only one who's deleted/moved posts in the last 6 months at least

I don't think Marc would be interested, nor would Karl. I think Boss would be the best choice...

Don't know how regularly Boss checks in.

All Marc does is troll the boards, how would he be a good moderator pick?

On a more serious note, is there a real need for more moderators (especially 4)? Does Jimbo feel overloaded? GE is more active but there's still only a couple dozen posts a day.

I would be interested. Anyone who has met me in real life knows I'm pretty solid, I wouldn't do anything stupid (despite the nature of some of my posts). I play GE a lot and check the boards several times daily. I will bring swift justice to trollers etc, but at the same time would not abuse my power.

I think a lot of the recent spam/trolling issues on the board would be solved if there was an ip suspension/ban for troll accounts. Although I agree that GE could use an extra person to clean things up (preferably someone who has enough common sense to tell all-in-good-fun trolling apart from the useless spam trolling that's been going on lately).

Seems like everyone is cool with Axel Z and Karl. I recommend everyone email Ngamer and Thingy and tell them that these would be great additions to the GE forum moderation team. Just send them a PM through the message board.

So yeah just tell them what we all think and hopefully this is a good way to go about this.

I don't feel overloaded at all, I just take care of everything I see once I get home from work. DK is absolutely right though with the IP ban/suspension deal, and that's something I have no power over sadly.

I didn't think Karl would be interested but I was thinking of him in my first post here! Him and I together cover each other's sleep times and we both feel pretty strongly about keeping the integrity of the boards to a high standard. Go Karl!

I'm more than happy to get hot under the collar about this. (Although I've no doubt this is some kind of misunderstanding.)

EDIT: The post was something along the lines of:

"If anything, I would throw my weight behind Axel Z.

This is because it is the natural extension of his current duties."

I don't see a problem with moderation as it is now. Just the retarded trolls should always be deleted immediately.

I still don't see why it's "clearly" not enough, though another person to cover Jimbo's sleep times would be nice.

UPDATE - DK upgraded to Board Administrator access so he'll be able to combat spam and IP ban spam/troll/harassing accounts. From now on, send a PM to DK if there's a user who deserves a suspension, ban, or full IP ban.
