I created a post for this (despite the one by Corey/Thingy) to specifically share the hilarious/awesome video.

Thanks for making a legit post. I begged Jimbo for an entire evening to make a post explaining everything you mentioned in yours and he just wouldn't help. I asked Corey to put together something and he whipped up a post pretty quick.

We need to keep the front page focused on "active" news stories instead of just boring posts recapping several months at a time. When something big is going down, it should hit the front page as soon as possible -- make the front page a news source instead of forcing people to browse the forum and find which topics mean something. (If anyone likes to write this stuff, tell us!)

I used to do monthly posts that no one ever read until GE/PD hit a major inactivity lull for a few months near the end of the year. Now that things picked back up, I can probably get back to my normal posting ways.

Doesn't help I was streaming 24/7 for a while there... putting down the controller for anything wrecks the mojo!

These posts serve as a nice "hey I wonder what happened way back in November 2013" tool, but they are boring. If something exciting happens it might only take 5 minutes to throw together 2 short paragraphs and post them up for all to see. It's pretty important if we want to be growing our userbase and linking "the-elite.net" from places like Twitch or the speedrun charity show.

Actually, Derek's "fun" post is well-timed, the-elite.net is likely to get some extra traffic from the speedrun marathon show that's coming up.

Thingy, I'm all about getting quick hitter posts up on the front page... I've been telling Jimbo the same for a while, though hard to complain when he's one of the only guys on the job. But I've said before it's open for more contributors. There's been a standard of creative, memoir like posts over the years but really just want to get crucial updates and news flashes up there. I get the impulse often but don't trust my facts because I'm just scooping info on the fly and often late to the party.

Goose, thanks for sharing on Reddit, but wish you would've linked to the article and not the YouTube link! My article was written with non-GE people in mind (extra details and lead-in).

Oh nice, just saw the full cut there. Dunno about the repeated "legend" self appointments and dramatic/hero tone... it's a miraculous run heavily reliant on luck factors, so lots of other GE accomplishments (even other runs by Lockwood) seem more deserving of the "legend" word, no? Clutch--absolutely... run positively gets better the closer it gets to the finish. The run itself is even "legendary" but one run doesn't make anyone a legend! (Sorry, that's just been bugging me. FYI my list of legends would probably be Wouter, Boss, Ace, and Clemens... takes a long time and a lot of WRs to win me over

)

Am I the only one that takes half my pleasure from the zaniness of Ryan's play-by-play? I think the ultimate viral video for this would be taking that transcript and popping the text on the screen as he says it. Like this (aweome video):
