If you've had a run where you think you've lost phantom seconds or frames, post it here so some good soul can see where you lost time and offer advice to you.

If you got a perfect run and you know no one will think there are any mistakes and you just want to flex, pls don't post.

Run felt good, obvious mistakes on aim for alarms, any big things I'm missing?
Only been playing it for 5 hours, wanted to give it a shot and I'm already feeling confident with the level.

Right now I'm trying to get 55 seconds without the lockshot, and it has continued to elude me :(  Also, I'm running while looking up to try to focus on cleaning up the strafe lines (especially at the end).  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

https://youtu.be/t7rrIUbabyY - 17 fail, thought it was a 16. 1:0 (early boost), not the run of the century but still not that bad, and since I havent failed any 16s so far (6h total, last 3h were way more productive tho now that I semi learned how to leave first room consistently), I'd appreciate any thoughts on it, except maybe touching the railing after Nat which I noticed it as I was posting.  :v

Hello, irrel runner here. Going for Dam 53, I have an embarrassingly large number of 54's, time to get some real insight from experienced runners (because obviously I don't know shit).

https://youtu.be/ONrulPUGFeM   two 53 chokes (confirm?)
https://youtu.be/JAnGrIEAhpQ
https://youtu.be/pSohx8tjAXM   54, 2:0
https://youtu.be/fcIA-allUNQ      54, no boost
https://youtu.be/uLV4K_S69rg   54, insane gate, 1:0

I guess my main concern is how close I am to 53. Each of the last three runs I felt could have done the job. Would love any and all advice/insight. Even if you just wanna tell me how shit I am :kappa:

First of all, don't mind choking runs in the end, that's really common and it's part of the process. Try to overcome that by practicing as much as you can, but yeah it'll happen still. Also, are you getting 37 lockshot quitouts somewhat consistently? That'd be the first indicator of a 53 pace (specially if you get them boostless). If you are getting them, then just keep playing and you'll get 53 sooner or later.

I'm not any Dam expert here but I'd say 3 things about your runs (watched both 53 chokes, can't tell if they were 53 indeed because of the sloopy railing strafe in the end):

- When you get out of the big gate, get a little closer (but not touching) to the left wall
- Aim to the middle of the small gray gate, it opens really fast so you can maximize that line (you're going too much to the right, adjusting the line above will probably improve this too)
- Look up in the final section, and not down, and unless you get like a 2:0 sick run, try to do tight turns as much as possible without touching the railing. Try to count and master the seconds needed before each turn so you don't have to react to the railing direction change, and hope for the best. This part is really tense but you have to risk it a little bit, just trust in your skills  :kappa:

Hope it helps! Rest of the runs look pretty solid.

Pretty much any run that has a fast enough gate is a 37 pauseout at this point, including boostless runs; I get them pretty frequently.

- When you get out of the big gate, get a little closer to the left wall
- Aim to the middle of the small gray gate

I've gotten lazy at this section because I've been playing this level for so long (wow what a stupid thing to say), but yeah I need to focus on this line more.

Look up in the final section, and not down

For some reason, I recall Ogran telling me a looong time ago that the difference between lookup and lookdown here is extremely minimal and that it basically doesn't matter. Not sure if that's the case but every run I've completed so far has been with lookdown. I'll try looking up I guess.

Thanks for the advice, and congrats on getting Arch 16.

EDIT: https://youtu.be/UsH0C2Nsung   this was the very first run of my session today

Yeah if Ogran said that then forget what I said lmao I guess it's just a matter of doing the lines really tight, do what fits you best.

That run (today) was really good tbh Your lines were very solid, 53 quality 100%. I was told that you need like a 37.7 or 37.8 to get 53 with a nice ending (that means its not like every 37 shot = 53), so basically you either get a nice 37 pace (like yours from today, I believe), and a nice, tight ending, or you get a boost (or even two) and you can still screw up something and end up with 53. If you are getting 37 paces very often, I'd advise you to take more risks in the ending, unless you're like 2:0 then play it safe. You're gonna lose one or two runs but it's gonna push your limits eventually, and that's how you improve anyway so :p

Knowing now that 37.7 or .8 is the cutoff for 53 makes me a bit less frustrated. I swear, I thought it just happened to line up perfectly on 37.97 being 53.97 pace

Got lots of good runs today; a bunch of 37's, a few (pretty low?) 54's, I'll keep working at it for sure

I know my line was bad, is there anything else that could be costing points of a second here. If I had the right line would it have been 22?

The nade boosts during the volley were quite weak and you didn't get the full strength of them. It's mostly out of your control though, so just unfortunate.

The other thing is having the hut nade closer to the doorframe for a more direct boost, rather than a semi side-boost. Try to bounce it off the wall.

In addition to Icy's feedback, I think you lost some time with a shitty plane entry. It looks like you were past the wheel already, which is really late and bad. My suggestion is to look up at the standard angle at the end and smash B like crazy near the wing on promising runs.

Yeah I know that line I took was bad, I was too much to the left of the plane. It's something I got to work on cause I've had other runs where I've gotten 5 nade boosts but totally missed the plane being on a bad line.

yeah try to get the maximum of the first hut boost because it's the easiest to get the timing right and should be somewhat consistent (using the full boost momentum is important there, you should turn while getting boosted and end up in the best line possible to the plane). And looking up is very important so you do those micro adjustments that will keep you on the right lines (the boosts sometimes may push you a little to the sides).

Also I felt like you went a little too much to the left in your very first line, but not sure though.

I would say you lost valuable time at Xenia. You should switch to AR33, align your aim at her head and shoot her earlier, like this. Consistency may drop but you can get better kills. Also is the lookdown after the kill for a reason? Your line was bad and you were more to the left than you should have been at the cave. Enter the cave at the normal look-up angle and shoot the drone earlier. That way you avoid a risk of getting backboosted by the drone to, which you narrowly managed to do on this run. Rest looked OK.

Sick run.

Even with that back but a perfect warp, wouldn't that have still been pace? Being 4:0 to the drone hall

echoing what i said in discord, there are a few spots where you get stuck for multiple seconds. getting a "clean" run with minimal stuck is your first priority - then to save time it'll be more about knowing exactly when to shoot/ move/ look.

yea it was def a low 56.

i'd say take a bit wider line on the first single door after the spiral stairs... since it lets you get around the door quicker. any bits of the level you are very consistent with, look down more.

also try to push your final single door entering the safe room, look how ace does it:

https://clips.twitch.tv/MotionlessDifferentSageFloof

see how he turns INTO the first of the last two single doors? in your run, you focus on clearing the first door before even attempting to open the second door. the limiting factor for how fast you can open the second door is pretty much only your look angle, not your position. thats why ace focuses on turning bond towards the 2nd door asap.

the last grenade in the volley looked like it exploded after you already entered the plane. you can see it in the cinema. the second grenade would have most likely hit you had you not been drone boosted obviously.

0:12 - "Good luck with the floor, James"

0:18 - "Shouldnt take more than a minute" changes to "I'm coming, James!"

Your locks were too slow, you need to be beyond this line before Trev says that 2nd line, otherwise Natalya follows you outside. Also, you killed her as she ran out of the train while firing ZMG towards the guards.

The ramp stuck was pretty bad and likely cost you the run. However, I think your strafing after the ramp can be tighter. On your run, you rub against the wall to the left of the key. You don't need to go that far left, you should just go straight to the key and bounce (https://youtu.be/RGU-Q2YppoM?t=10 - my run does it alright here). You can also take a better line between exiting the door and the following corner. Plane entry could have been better as well, I think.

These tips are fairly minor but for a simple level, it can go a long way. Also, since it looks like you're using 1.2, you'll need a perfect run to get 22 on a 6:0 run (way more common than a 7:0 run). Good luck.
