A couple of things to say...
First, I guess I feel a little bit bad about "disappearing" from this place (a reference to the April Fool's nickname I got-- "Into Thin Air"). I still usually check the boards daily, have seen most videos that people make, etc. Also, I still play GE every now and then (maybe like 2 hours a week), which leads me to part two...
Secondly, some whoarded times. I'm not gonna bother updating my times page since none of them are taped (I don't have a VCR), but I really did get them
- Train A 1:08 (got 1:10 and 1:09 too, wanted 1:07)
- Train SA 1:37 (crap, just to try out new strat)
- Facil A 0:47 (which I posted)
- Archives SA/00 0:55 (used pretty much the Karl strat, but doing the end the way I normally do it...)
I got the 55s during an intense 2 day period of play at the end of March, during spring break when I was at home. I also got a bunch of 17s, and 3 16 fails.
Thirdly, life. Life is good... I really like college (U of Chicago), thinking about majoring in some sort of literature/philosophy with a minor in math. I've had a girlfriend for 6 months, we're really close and are moving into an apartment together next year. She is "GE-friendly", so the N64 will probably live in the apartment as well.
Summer plans are pretty intense... spending a month in school in Mexico, a month in Tanzania, and a month at home. I intend on playing some GE that last month, like mid august-mid september.
Fourthly, my GE cartridge got stolen a few months ago.
Kinda annoying, lost everything except the whoarded times above and easy @#%$ like arch 17 and runway 23.
Fifthly... perhaps a the-elite first? I did Depot 26 in front of an "audience"... maybe 10-12 people watching. Perhaps the first "public" GE WR ever? Whatever.

Sixthly, come visit me. :P
-
Oh, I've speedran 'publicly' before. Just no WRs involved

The only WRs I've gotten in front of others were Matt and FB. Untieds anyway. Duel A 0:03 is way too easy to be classed as a world record.

pics.now!

hmm, I did a dam 54 when it was still the wr but it was only a single classmate watching. at his place though
does this mean you'll start posting more?
-
Hmm, i got 17 archievs in front of a few people. My 1 and only time i got it. Plus frigate 26 and frigate 116.
Thats about it.
Use aim more dan!!

whenever i got a time last year, i'd show a bunch of kids in my dorm. they'd always act impressed, but i'm sure they had no idea what was going on.

yeah its funny when you try to explain what to do in a level to a person that really has no idea whats going on.
-
Hey Dan, great to hear that things are going well; it's a refreshing change of pace from the numerous "my life is going straight to hell" topics floating around.
Also, do you know Ben Nigra? He's a friend of mine from high school who goes to U of Chicago.
-
I wish you the best of luck with school and your relationship
go dan

I've given up my attempts in explaining the inprobability of both mainframes blowing up and the hitting of a certain train in strafe despite of nerves goddamned near cracking up due to the prior obj. A completage. Or perhaps the precision/luck based (whatever you like) shooting of sir Trevelyan and the random (definately luck) appearance of a crappy flight recorder. Even the amount of hours, effort and consistency involved in completing a decent run on such levels doesn't seem to affect the average person to respond in a way that would make me feel somewhat better about the achievements.
All in all, there's no point whatsoever in discussing your "amazing" PRs/WRs with someone who has not tried speedrunning themselves. It just appears as interesting as the games you've written on your Casio CFX.
Hope you'll do well, Cervone, and it's nice to hear you enjoy college. Really long time now since the last time I spoke to you on AIM, but I hope you're still into nordic metal. :]
Keep it up!

Case will swim against you at U of C next year; be sure to attend

Mgay, I don't know the guy you mentioned personally, but after facebooking him I recognize seeing him around and stuff. Trent, sweet... we'll hang out when you visit the U of C team.
