First off let me say that it is an honour for me to be speaking to you lot as you are like celebs to me. I have folders full of all your speed runs (they blow me away) my favourite being Wouters 142 on caverns 00 omfg!
Ok enough of the brown tongue babbage time for the questions
1, Whats pal and ntsc?
2, I currently use 1.1 although my PR Dam 54 is 1.2, what is the best way to hold the joy pad for 1.2? as I use the C Buttons at the moment yet struggle pressing A & B
3, Any other 1.1 users get a sore thumb?
-
1. 2 different standards in voltage. NTSC uses 60 hertz and PAL uses 50 hertz. upload.wikimedia.org/wiki...-SECAM.png (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fd/NTSC-PAL-SECAM.png)
There's a map so you can see which area in the world uses which standard.
2. Hold it so you can press A and B with your right index finger. Can be hard at first, I'm still having trouble reaching the A-button.
3. Din far.
-
Welcome dude, enjoy your stay.
-
Thankyou Axel very helpfull just one more question
whats din far ?
-
You can't be told what Din far and Din mor is, you have to highlight it for yourself.
It means "your dad" and "your mom" in swedish.
-
????
-
hahaha
. You really don't want to know about din mors and din fars, trust me, it's pretty scaring.
And yes, sometimes my thumb is hurting from playing too long with 1.1
Welcome around here btw!

there seems to be quite a bit of newbies coming in around this time of year
but anywho good to have you. just dont pass me yet.

Greetings!

1. PAL is apparently a bit slower and the same times are harder to get. More noticeable on other games, but there is apparently still a small difference on GE.
2. Learn 1.2 on statue and streets to get used to it, if you aren't already. You can even put all three fingers on the C buttons and use your right thumb for the AB buttons. With 1.1, you will usually get a big indentation in your thumb after playing a while.

You need to train your thumb,
start with max 2 hours playing a day
then after a month you are allowed 3 hours max
after being around the elite for 6 months, u can probably game 8 hours straight, before your thumb gets burned as a mofo.
OR: Just dont rape the joystick too much with your thumb, keeps the joystick going,..... and your thumb as well.
PS: Welcome!! and only post your PR's if u really got them, don't be a biatch. Trust me, no truth = BANNED!! especially when faking your Train 00A time.
Now you got what it takes to play Goldeneye like a real man,
go forth and kill JANUS!
"Alec? You're Janus?"

I'm going off memory from your post, but here goes.
NTSC and PAL are the main classifications of your cartridge depending on what region of the world you live in. NTSC represents represents North and South America (I think) and PAL is Europe, Australia, etc. PAL is known to be smoother on Train and Jungle, yet be a severe hindrance on a few other levels. NTSC has faster opening doors (barely noticable) and slight other advantages, but it doesn't matter for the general n00bie unless you're contending for top 10.
din mor + din far = your mom, your dad
Also, dead serious, do NOT screw around with 1.1, switch to 1.2 immediately. Take it from me. The switch to 1.2 does not only benefit your times alone, but will save your controller from severe hardships of speed-running longterm and overall you will be happier using 1.2. If you want a video tutorial on how *most* of the elite uses 1.2, contact me on AIM at GoldenJimbo007 - I have a vid of me playing, you may find it useful.
Enjoy your stay around here, dude.

1.2 is for lamers who cant get good times otherwise
-
For sure.^ 1.1 times take alot more skill.
-
wtf that's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. It's like driving an manual when you have the choice of an automatic. Screw that.
-
Doesn't manual's go faster.
-
you'd be looked at weird and as if you have no skills when you drive an automatic here..
-
"Doesn't manual's go faster" - Brandon
Thats not true. Manual makes it possible for the human to make a bad move in shifting gears or whatever. It's true that with a manual tranmission you can downshift easily to get some torque when a quick acceleration is needed. That downshift usually lags with an automatic tranmission. That saying you're driving an everyday car. If it's a drag or racing car, a lot of them are semi-automatic, which minimizes the possible mistakes. So in itself, manual isn't "faster".

1.1 is for people who suck too much to learn 1.2

din mor is for people who suck din far too much

1.1 PAL is for diehards only!..... like,..... (part)Wouter,..... me,.... errr.... Matthijs?
