Title: Just discovered the elite, now I have questions

Hi, I've just discovered the elite and I,ve seen the videos of GoldenEye.I'm a player of that game since 1999. After viewing the videos, I have some questions:
- Why when I try to do that "Smart Card" trick in Aztec, the guards doesn't open the Glass window ?
- How do you make Trevelyan die so fast in Cradle ? When I try, Alec just run and run.
- What is Cruise Control ?

I know, maybe they are newb questions, but I've never followed the GoldenEye community, or developpement.

Ignore Tyler.

The Aztec trick takes some luck. You stand near the glass, which is the last place the guards see you, so they run there and hopefully open the door as they look for you.

On Agent, shoot him in the back in the first hut. Then make sure both guards are firing simultaneously and hit him in the head for a double headshot and instant death.

Cruise control is a 1.1 thing. It involves resetting the control stick's neutral position so it moves forward without having to press anything. You can then take corners without slowing down. 1.2 is just as good though, if not better.

Don't worry about Tyler, he's always like that ;)

Cruise Control is used by 1.1 control style players, its mainly holding your joystick back and then resetting it to default. Then it'll think you're continually going foward.

The Glass trick is pretty tricky on Aztec, its mostly patience and luck.

Sorry dude, don't worry about Tyler, he's just being an @#%$. Anyway........

For your first question. The aztec trick shown in the vid doesn't work everytime. Sometimes the guard opens it sometimes he doesn't. The purpose of the trick is that you want the guard to be convinced that your still in front of the glass door, even though your behind that wall.

For your second question. If you get two headshots on Alec while he is exiting the shed you weaken his overall health. After this all you have to do is shoot him in the head while he is going down the ramp. This method takes practice.

The last question about Cruise Control. Cruise control can be activated by holding R, L, and start button and then holding down the analog stick. This method makes you go just as fast as  a player who uses 1.2 control style. You want to use cruise control because 1.1 users have a disatvantage because we don't turn as fast as 1.2 style.

I try to have good times as you have, and for cruise control, it's ok now, but it's useless for me because I use 1.2.
My best score for now are Runway A 0:25 and Archives 00 1:13, but I know they are far from you, so I keep practicing.
Also, the only cheats I'm unable to do is Caverns, I do know why but everything go wrong when I play this level.
Also, I'm canadian me too :p

Since I'm the guy who popularized cradle 35, I know a lot about killing trev.  Basically, you want to go into the first hut and shoot him in the head, or sometimes in the body is ok.  Then, still strafing and all, you want to blow up the computer as soon as possible.  After that, leave the hut and head down the ramp.  If you were fast enough, he shouldn't be shooting at you, and you have a chance to hit him again in the head.  This does take practice, and even I can only kill him about every 10-15 minutes or so, which is way better than most others. :p     When you start out, don't be surprised if you kill him like, every 3 hours or so.  Its tough.



EDIT - The WR for killing him at the bottom of the platform is held untied by me at 0:44. :p

Thanks White Goose, now I have a time of 0:58 in Cradle but not because he died at the end of the ramp, but he automatically go to the little place under the level. With practice, I will kill him faster.

I have a probleme in Depot now:
Nobody comes out when I shoot the "Train car". I've tried even with the D5K and nobody comes out. Any ideas?

There's a certain area in which you have to shoot in order to make a successful (what we call) trainshot... Someone should record a tutorial on how to do this. ;)

Don't worry InsuRn, I also had a lot of trouble with the trainshot at first. One tip I can give you is to try turning as late as possible.  I think I was turning and shooting at the train too early at first and they would never come out. Once I started to turn right before I passed the wall, it would work much more frequently.

Ok, thanks, I've been able to do it after the wall but I lose a little speed when I do it so, I've improved my time by 2 seconds only. Like my mother said: Keep practicing ! :D

yeah, trainshot took me a lot of getting used to and i still get it very rarely... :rolleyes
