Title: How good is your controller?

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being unplayable, and 10 being BRAND spanking new, what do you rank your main N64 controller right now?

Most know last December I bought a sealed N64 controller of eBay for $13 (made by Nintendo, best thing I ever bought besides my capture card). Ranks 9.5 to this day; using 1.2 control style helps, as do not playing any hard games (Mario Parties) with my good controller. You may not quite understand how important a good controller is until you get one...For example, I guarantee with your old controller, you cannot take the first Facility stairs full strafe and still get the keycard, you have to let off somewhat to make that corner. My controller can make those stairs EASILY :D

I'd rate mine a 6 going down quickly as I'm still using 1.1 and will stick to that till death.

My controllers are not bad, Neither good.

It kinda depends on how much i've used it recently. I can switch between 2 controllers(I've got 4 but only 2 can be used) so when one is getting worn out i use the other one a couple of months, Then the old one has gotten better again so i just keep doing that.

And of course i've got an extra thumbstick in case one would fall of again :b

I have kind of used all my good controllers now. I borrowed my brothers new controller when i started playing last summer, and since i began to play again, its getting floppy.

I'd say 6 maybe, 6.5. Im gonna get som new joysticks. :)

bought a second hand controller last november, barely used. i will never use anything but 1.1. i'd rate it a 5.5.

My 5 controllers are easily 1/10  -  DONT play hardcore 1080 Snowboarding!

At the moment im using a friends controller (hes not too happy about it) and it rates 8/10 :D  so im happy!

8ish. Managed to get a good quality one second-hand. As a side note, i'm out of action for a while as I broke my RF adaptor :rollin .

9 at least, still feels fresh after starting to use this when I went for 1:03 S1. 1.2 really saves controllers too, the one I used 1.1 with is like worth only 6 or so, it's playable but not great to go for fast times with, not with 1.1 at least. Probably the reason I had so much trouble with 2:06 on Dam 00A and stuff.

one is an 8, one is a brand new "10" stick, going to order more. 8)

I also noticed that the Hotel chains in America that have Nintendo games (through LodgeNet) to order have a specialized 64 controller. Turns out that stick is made like that of the new console controllers, so it can't wear it out (supposedly). Maybe Madcats makes a control stick like that...

People come to my house and ask "Why is your controller like this"  I say, "yours isn't like this because you suck at video games."

I have 7 N64 controls

3- Broken
3- about a 4
1- my current one I found at my cottage this august.  It was probably a 9, now a 6 maybe.:b

5 x 1 , all overplayed

the one i bought this summer was like 9.5 (used) now i'd say it's 8.5, pretty good.

My old gray controller: 0 :b  the control stick flew off when I was playing af1 agent with 1.1. Impossible to play. :lol

Current one (yellow): 5, started using it since mid 2003 I think, and I was 1.1 till mid 2004, so it's kinda worn out. The damage stopped after I changed to 1.2.  :b

I also have another gray controller, only played with it once in my life, but the control stick is so @#%$ sensitive I can't even make a turn properly (even Duel is hard if you miss the shot :\ ). I'll give it a 10 for obvious reasons.

My current controller Id rate 7. Although I have one sitting in my backpack that I bought at a swap meet for 3 dollars, and Id rate that a 9+, this controller is gonna be used for mkrt64 I think and thats only because I somehow wear out controllers fast when it comes to karting.

I'd rate my current (blue) controller at 6.5 or 7. I have two others grey controllers that I used at the beginning, in order to preserve the blue, so that if ever one day I would have to play for fast time, I wouldn't use a completely useless controller, synonym of bad times.
I had this good controller at  the beginning, but it didn't prevent me from having bad times :(
However, I'm wondering wether today the grey ones aren't better than the blue...:rolleyes

My original 1999 controller is about a 7.5, my 2001 atomic purple beauty is about a 7 (sticky stick, hmmn)- but i just bought a new one on eBay!!! go me!  its a replica one, but has been made identical to the originals ;)

It hasnt arrived yet, but will surely be a 10

Ive got 2 grey ones, which id say are pretty worn, i can hear the ball-bearings (or whatever it is) moving about, needs a bit of wd40 i think :p  (then i realise liquids and electronics don`t mix). Ive got 2 purple ones which id rate maybe 7. And two unofficial ones which i got free when i bought some games. Its got like those crappy switches on, which i thought i might make use of, but they`re rock to switch over, so don`t bother with em. The stick is really smooth, bad d-pad so 6 for them.

Got four controller's: two grey, one black and one blue.

Black one is the worst probably a 1.5... The Z button does only work about 10% of the time and the stick is almost lose too :p  Of the two grey ones the first is worth 5 and the second, which I'm currently using, is worth 7! The blue controller is perfect 10, it's like brand new only used it once ;)
