Title: PAL and NTSC Rankings
Post by: 007-Emile on June 18, 2005, 08:44:00 am
so... yeah can't we do the same as the PD Rankings... beside the complete Ranking List,
we can link the PAL version and NTSC version above ??

Cuz actually, Im getting pretty tired of my PAL system, talked to Wouter a bit about it some time ago. Seems like almost all things are faster on NTSC and many times therefor much more easier to obtain.

Im not wining or anything... just asking if two different Rankings can be made and link those sites above the Complete Rankings.

apparently times are easier to get on train on pal. so your not totally screwed :D

imo you should invest the 30 or so dollars into a new ntsc system and ge:)

but a pal/ntsc ranks would be appropriate:)

Would be interesting to see, although it may turn out to be a pointless exercise.

I might invest in an NTSC N64 at some point, might make games like MK and F-Zero more fun.

Really, train has its advantages on PAL?
Didn't know that.

But like I said,.. I'm not wining because of my PALish system, Just wanna know how I stand on Pal Rankings, and how the Rankings just look like that way.

It's just a suggestion, I really have no idea if someone is able to fix this within an easy 15 minutes, or if many hours of work are needed.

There aren't many players good at train so how can you even conclude from that that PAL is advantaged? Both SA/00 are tied on NTSC. Agent is only 1 second behind. Why couldn't I just be ab better player on train? don't jump to conclusions just because Jim says Train and Jungle are advantaged on PAL. Appearantly on Jungle he doesn't have the skills to hit the last drone with his Grenade Launcher. I can do it every try on both systems. what now, less lag on PAL?

I have been talking stuff lately about Train having an advantage on PAL, I really just seem to get good times on Train more consistently on PAL.

When doing agent runs I rarely got lower than 1:25 (on like 5 times I got to Train) and when I tried on PAL I got 1:20 and 1:22 on a couple of speedruns. Dunno if it's overall a matter of more than a sec but I seem to get fast times more consistently on Train PAL.

Dunno really about the different difficulties but all my Train PRs are done on PAL. You tell what you think Wouter after trying Train again on NTSC and PAL.

Train is probably one of my best levels, but I still can't get the world records. :(

PAL probably doesn't have an advantage on any level. Maybe there is just no disadvantage on Train? Most likely though, Wouter is just very good at it.

I'd love to see some PAL/NTSC rankings.

PAL/NTSC arguments suck and I hate them, so without getting into my full opinion on the matter I will simply state two facts:

1. All current Goldeneye world records are possible on both PAL and NTSC. There are no exceptions. This is not the case with Perfect Dark, thus forming the logic for creating separate world record tables for PAL/NTSC.

2. Where I come from, PAL is most commonly recognized as the Police Athletic League.

Have to disagree with you there Cervone,
Bryan told everyone not to go for Runway SA 0.23 on PAL.... or playing 1.1

On that stage I could tell immediately it was possible,  sort of perfect run and 5 boosts were recuired.

NTSC needs 4... and a normal run
That's just one level that pisses me of a lot! I told you before I got several 7:0 runs, even 8:0 runs....
on NTSC I probably have that so called amazing 22.
Thats just the level I can play best.. and it really pisses me of.

Every PAL player knows he has his disadvantages in this game. Look what Wouter improved when he got his NTSC system... for those not been around Wouter's first rapes.... he improves Depot SA and 00A.... NTSC...
"@#%$ Wouter, that's a good time.. how the hell did you manage to improve them?"
- ,,I played NTSC"
"Does it really makes that difference?"
- ,,Yeah, door opening and all random stuff just goes faster"

This discussion has been going many years, and you're a tremendous good player, and always played NTSC... so you didnt witness the disadvantages yourself.

And like I said before,
Im not crying in my chair me not having the NTSC system.. I didnt stop playing as well (for that reason). The PD Rankings just have a PAL and NTSC list.. and a complete one.

Just saying this would be a nice idea for GE as well. Stop reacting like I'm voting for Bush, just an idea man, chill. Doesn't hurt anybody... and no-one will think of you as a less better player if this happens (if that's why you're reacting so... unflexible)

BUT!

That's just weird talk man, really. Get a PAL system and play for yourself... mostly Runway Agent, Depot etc etc. ask Wouter, he knows more about WR's than me.

Dan, read this one well:

"you're a tremendous good player, and always played NTSC... so you didnt witness the disadvantages yourself."

You don't know half how PAL is and because you've had the better system all the time, of course you don't notice any problems with getting any WRs.
I don't see you getting PAL, since logically, you don't need it.
But if you did, you'd find out how wrong you are.
If you'd play PAL and try for any WRs, many of them would be a lot harder to get. I can tell you with 100% confidence that if you were PAL since you started, you'd be still the same player, but with worse times. It's just ignorant to say things just because you can't face the facts for whatever reason. You have no right to debate when you can't even compare the 2 never having played both.

1) Just because currently all WRs are possible on both systems, does not mean there is no difference. It's very clear that many people could get streets 1:56s, but only NTSC can do it easily, since they only need cake ratios. This is only one example of many. Also, how can you say this is a fact? not all WRs have been done on both systems, and I'd like to see anyone getting all control WRs on PAL, for instance.

2) Police Athletic League, Athletic referring to the bigger patience needed to get more boosts just to get the same time which would be easier to get with less boosts on NTSC. More patience and consistency, thus more hand movements, thus athletic, I guess.

NTSC stands for No Thing So Crazy ;)

I never said there was no difference.... of course there is a difference! It's just that the current records aren't yet maxed enough to allow this difference to completely prevent PAL from achieving the record. For example, Bunker 2 Agent WR is 24, done on NTSC. Can PAL get 24... yep. Can NTSC get 23? Well, I say yes, it's technically possible. Can PAL get 23... probably not. etc.

etc? I was asking control. currently the best PAL times there are 4:04, 4:22, 4:24. sure seems normal doesn't it.

I never heard of systems having sex, let alone having a sexual preference.

That's weird. I've known for a long time that PAL is gay, NTSC is a bisexual female, and SECAM is a transvestite beastophiliac.

PAL is gay... it likes f*cking one in the ass, eat pancakes, walk out its porks...... and other gay stuff.
