I've been posting here since October 2003, and though I'm obviously not active in GE like I was a few years ago (despite one or two several month spurts of playing since I've been at college), I still follow the boards pretty regularly. I have a couple of other accounts which may bring my total count to around 2000--with a good 300+ of these posts are PRs and probably another few hundred are PR dupes, fails, or vids. It feels good sitting here right now, realizing that though I've posted some 6000 less times that folks like Wouter over the same time period, if each post takes on average a minute to write, that's 100 more hours of life I've freed up for such noble purposes as jacking off and playing cello. And surely most posts, though they perhaps take a minute to write, a preceded by about five minutes of board surfing and reading other people's posts. So now that's 600 hours I've saved by these crude calculations. In a normal 9-5 job, it takes 3.5 months to work 600 hours...

*returns to one or perhaps both of aforementioned pursuits*

Post by: RWG on January 21, 2009, 06:24:00 am: It was not the future. It was not from 2099, it was from 1999. That's why I told you to stop bumping old topics. Jeeze Wouter. No one in history has ever come from the future and visited us, which only makes us assume that time travel backwards is impossible.

Think about it. If it were possible then it would have to have been done. Because at any time in the future they could go back to any time in the past. No one has ever had anyone come from the future in the past 6000 years of recorded history... with an infinite time scheme, if time travel in reverse were possible it would almost be certain that someone who has lived would have been visited by someone from the future. What this means is that either:

a) it is impossible to travel in time in reverse
b) it is possible, it's just that maybe time is now at like 1500000000 years, and our 6000 year time scheme has not been visited by some random chance, which is very very unlikely
c) yuku fucked up.

So basically, if you claim to have posted in 2099 and then come back to the current date, this is clearly not possible. It IS possible however that you posted in 1999 and are posting now.

This brings up an interesting question. Aren't we always traveling into the future?

i "agree" with Goose. while the theory is fun to think about, it will never happen with humans! though i heard that in England somewhere scientists were trying to capture "light" (?) and send it either to the past or to future, i can't remember, but i'm sure you could find the story on the internet...
