Cue the dramatic music! (http://www.thengamer.com/misc/Europe%20-%20The%20Final%20Countdown.mp3)
If you've spent much time in chat over the past two months, you might already be aware of the Elite's next big meetup. This upcoming Thursday (Feb. 26), I'll be embarking on a trip to Calgary, Alberta where I will spend an entire week (and my entire life savings) with the Elite's own Ricky "Infil12" Pusch! We already have some great events planned, and there will be plenty of spontaneous fun throughout the week to be sure. Here's just some of the things you can expect from this epic meeting:
- Plenty of video game playing (PD, Smash Bros, and much more)
- Plenty of outdoor ice hockey!
- Some NL Hold 'em cash games
- We will be going to the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Calgary Flames hockey game at the Saddledome on March 1st!
- And the Main Event: The first ever international hockey Grand National Championship between DK and Infil (more details later!)
We'll post updates on events and other happenings in this topic throughout the week. This could turn out to be one of the great Elite meetings of all time, so stay tuned!

Can't wait to hear that final GNC event listing!

Go Calgary Flames Go! I will be putting money on at least 2 different people yelling "BOO TAMPA" directly at DK.
-
have a great meeting!
-
Rest assured, our experts will be setting lines for the number of obscenities directed at me and the number of objects thrown at me during the Flames game.
-
Have a great meeting you guys!

Go Flames (https://forums.the-elite.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ezboard.com%2Fintl%2Faenglish%2Fimages%2Femoticons%2Fsmile.gif&hash=1adea417e08e9042f9ce1a5426616bf29f2ca20e)

If by "bigger" you mean "a bigger sausage party" then yes.
-
Walked into that one...
-
seems like every topic ryan goes in he has to say something dumb... even in the one i made too.
-
Funny thing is that none of these meetings involve Stinsowned.
Now there's a turn up for the books!

First day was fun! Unfortunately, we couldn't get any skating in, because it had snowed the day before and none of the rinks were in good condition. We spent the evening playing PD and Brawl, and watching some hockey on TV. Tomorrow we're hitting up a NL hold'em cash game and the Wild game in the evening. Saturday we look to hit up a rink in the afternoon (maybe also the evening).
-
Did you watch the Toronto Maple Leafs epically own the New York Lolanders to give a crazy shot at the playoffs? Or did you watch the Sens/Sharks on RDS? (which would be a lol experience for DK.) You need to make sure he sees Sportscentre tomorrow morning since Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole are hosting.
edit: I just realized the game you had in range was Edmonton vs Columbus. Pretty exciting stuff. I can't wait to hear how the Wild/Flames game goes!
-
Oh, you're going to the Flames game against the Wild? Go Wild!
-
Too late drag.
Wild/Flames game was awesome. We played a bunch of hockey today and had some great ice this evening. I also accomplished a rare feat by breaking a puck in half with a wrist shot.
-
Yeah, we saved the puck (both halves) and we'll get a picture of DK with it. He'll take it home as a pretty awesome souvenir.
DK's playing quite well, despite not having had ice hockey practice in some time. All that roller hockey practice is paying off! The GNC should be quite even and entertaining.
The Lightning game is tomorrow!
-
My buddy, who's a *huge* Wild fan, said the game sucked!
-
Your buddy is also a *huge* idiot, Jim. We've been over this.
-
His buddy is the huge idiot? Or is it Jimbo that is the *huge* idiot?

fail?

I just bet my entire life savings of $1.75 on centsports on the Calgary Flames defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning to win $0.66. Infil, you better bring your best cheering voice and good karma!
edit: I also bet $1.53 on freesports bet on the Flames, at -325. This means I have well over $3 riding on this game! Don't let me down infil!
-
Goose = pwned
-
You lucky bastards. That was some game eh? Wish I could have been there too!
-
The game was really ridic, had a little bit of everything. We sure picked a game to see.
The hockey GNC topic will be posted later, but we have to ensure we can actually perform it before we put up a pred topic. Stay tuned on that.
-
We were in a ridic mood tonight, so here are some ridic pictures as a result.
DK broke a puck with a solid wrist shot off the post in one of our hockey sessions. We found the pieces and saved it. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7039/brokenpuck.jpg (http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7039/brokenpuck.jpg)
When I picked up DK from the airport, I brought along a pig smiley printed on a piece of paper, instead of holding up a sign with his name on it. http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5061/pigpicture.jpg (http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5061/pigpicture.jpg)
We're probably going to start up a stache? album. Perhaps the funniest picture we took. http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/6233/stacheqm.jpg (http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/6233/stacheqm.jpg)
And a little shocked lobster to end it off. http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/1460/shockedlobster.jpg (http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/1460/shockedlobster.jpg)

I can't believe those Gatorade bottles and Swiss Chalet receptacles in your GARBAGE can. All of that is recyclable.
-
Is that a mcdonalds fries container I see? I thought I taught you better with In N Out! NEVER GO BACK
-
After I saw the stache? pic, it was love.
-
i thought it was a real mustache (https://forums.the-elite.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ezboard.com%2Fintl%2Faenglish%2Fimages%2Femoticons%2Ffrown.gif&hash=9bb8520656650a7c2457ae0ae2ee8996e4109fd6) i was all excited

The mustache and shocked lobster pictures are epic.

Well, I took DK to the airport really early Thursday morning, and he's safely made it back home!
Unfortunately, we weren't able to do the GNC. The weather messed up the ice at sort of the worst time, so we had to scrap the idea. We got in several sessions of shinny hockey early in the week, though, and had a great time.
We attended two hockey games, both very entertaining. The 8-6 Tampa win on Sunday was insane. Stamkos with 1g1a, and Iginla getting goal 400 AND getting the Flames all-time points record.
Otherwise, we just went out to a few restaurants, made a SF4 video or two, and enjoyed a lot of PD, Smash (all three versions), and Wild Arms.
I thought it was a pretty relaxing trip, and I had a great time. The lack of the GNC is a bit disappointing, maybe, but it's not the end of the world. I hope DK had as much fun as I did!
-
We'll just hold off on a Hockey GNC until we have a big selection of hockey Eliters present! It's will be like the all-star skills competition, with significantly less gay.
-
Well, I have made it safely back home! Here are some final thoughts about the trip...
Overall this was an incredible week. I think we got to do everything we wanted to do except the hockey GNC, which was made impossible due to the weather conditions the past 3 days. But Infil and I both agreed that the little ice time we did have was well spent playing pickup games, and we wouldn't have given that up for the sake of doing a GNC. The two Flames games we attended were excellent, especially the Bolts game. I've always wanted to see an NHL game at a Canadian venue, and I was able to get the full experience by going as a fan of the home team for one game and a fan of the visiting team the next. The Bolts actually winning was an unexpected bonus for me (I don't think Infil was TOO upset about it either (https://forums.the-elite.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ezboard.com%2Fintl%2Faenglish%2Fimages%2Femoticons%2Fwink.gif&hash=4979046fbfc7ed25a03644bf608e503c4aa73f0f)).
We did a solid amount of gaming. I didn't fare too well in the PD and Smash Bros. multiplayer matches, but they were a ton of fun nonetheless. I really hadn't played any Melee/Brawl before now, so I wasn't expecting to match up well in those games. We did a little bit of PD Challenge 30, and despite sucking at first, we had some great matches (even up until a few hours just before I left). Infil showed me a lot of cool games like SF4, FF12, and Braid, and I brought a couple of my favorite games as well. In fact, we played about 10 hours of Wild Arms, getting halfway through the game.
Poker on Friday afternoon was quite fun since I hadn't played any live poker since high school. I may have lost my entire life savings, but at the very least I was up for a little while and caught the biggest hand of the day (quad Aces).
Infil's family was awesome and really helped make my trip as enjoyable as it was. His parents were both so nice, cooking great meals and helping us think of rinks and times we could skate. His brother, Dave, was hilarious and a great guy to play games with. We basically spent the entire week cracking each other up with Kindergarden Cop references and chat memes. I just hope I didn't go overboard on my chat references (I don't think I did). I hope I wasn't too quiet either, since I know that's how I tend to act.
This was definitely a trip I'll never forget, and I hope that we can meet again someday!

stache?

Nice stuff guys! Seems like the trip really paid off.
