I want Pioneerof The Nile
-
I want Musket Man!
-
Dayle wants revenge!
She also wants to pick I Want Revenge
-
Whoa, at first glance I misread #20 as "Flying Pirate" and was totally marking out. Surely would have been the best Derby winner ever. But since the name change I'm going to have to instead go with
Hold Me Back
-
I guess I'll take the winner, Friesan Fire. I wanted to take Pioneer of the Nile just because I like the story about how he scared Papa Clem and I Want Revenge out of the region he was racing in. Doubt he wins the Derby though.
Friesan Fire's a mudder. His mudder was a mudder; his fadder was a mudder. He loves the slop!
-
i'll take Summer Bird... close to my name
-
Atomic Rain
-
Just noticed Friesan Fire has been taken by QB, so I better pick Desert Party.
The horses have good names this year.
-
Flying dude.
-
Ah, the annual contest of who posts to pick the favorites first.
-
HOLD ME BACK FROM MAKING A PRED ON THIS TRULY EXCITING SPORTS EVENT
-
Durk has been suspended until the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby in order to help him met his goal.
-
If it's not taken i'll have Mr Hot Stuff.
-
I Want Revenge scratched from Kentucky Derby!
-
West side burnie!
-
Dayle wants to change to Nowhere to Hide!
-
who cares about Survivor:Kentucky?
-
Picks are locked!
-
OMG, what an upset!
-
Congrats to nobody for correctly picking Mine That Bird at 50-1! Come 2nd with Pioneerof The Nile and Third 3rd with Musket Man!
-
That was one of the most insane endings of a horse race I've ever seen. Mine That Bird ran faster than I've ever seen a horse run from that last corner on. He just kicked it into a new gear. Excellent, exciting finish. Great derby.

Rachel Alexandra dominated in the Kentucky Oaks yesterday too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNkBuJtds58
Of course, the best is still Secretariat in the 1973 Belmont: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoFquax2F-k

YEAH Musket Man! 3rd place I'll take it.

I Want Revenge is more seriously injured than previously thought; he'll be sidelined for several months before being re-evaluated. Some think he may not race ever again, which is a shame, since he had such potential.
Desert Party came in 14th and ended up with a bone chip in his ankle that is being removed in the near future.
It will be interesting to see who ends up running in the Preakness. It's a pretty mixed reaction in the horse community as to whether there is a legitimate shot at the Triple Crown this year, half are saying Mine That Bird had a total fluke of a victory, and under better track conditions he wouldn't have even placed. Others think he's a real contender. It's been 31 years since the last Triple Crown, so I'm definitely not holding my breath. Then again, I rooted against Big Brown last year in the Belmont because I hated his connections.
