Everyone's upset at Jimbo for locking us into a late July date for this year's meet without proper discussion, so here's the topic for you to voice your opinion. Which week would you prefer? Which week can you not possibly make? Options are:
July 26th - 31st
August 16th - 21st
August 23rd - 28th
(The first and second weeks in August are OUT due to the Weathertons being on other vacations.)

Personally I could make it to any of the three, but preference-wise I'd go with
16th > July > 23rd

Jesus Christ people.
Andrew Weatherton pretty much calls the shots on the dates, and he's insisting we do a Thurs-Tues meet this year. His explanation is that "2 short work-weeks is ideal", and not much else. (note: He and Katie just had a baby, this probably takes highest priority)
The host Weathertons listed that the first week of August is out, the 2nd week of August is out thanks to the family visiting friends and family in Boston. This leaves us with late July vs late August
Late August screws over everyone with a school schedule, late July at least gives everyone a reasonable chance to come. Ngamer will throw a monster fit if it's any earlier than what it's at now (take that for what it's worth).
That's my 2 cents, is it really this hard to get time off of work?

Either August date... then July.
Still don't like the Thursday-Tuesday... 2 short work weeks to him may be ideal but there are a lot of people coming, it may not be ideal for others. Like myself and Lovins, sure there are more.

Either of the two earlier dates are fine for me, but August 23-28 is not.

Aug 16, Aug 23, July. July might be harder to get off for me since I'll already be forced to take the 2nd week off in July.

Two of those periods cover "month end." Yikes. Only August 16th to 21st really work for me, given the choices.
Anyway no matter how it turns out, thank you for going with the democratic approach with a vote. It's the right way to do things, even if at my own expense.

For me I'd probably put August 16-21 then July. Just because it's easier to take weeks off later in the summer for me. I don't mind missing the 1st day of school too, should survive. But I should be able to get around it being in July since my coworkers are great :)
As for 2 short weeks I don't mind as I'll take a week off for one and will trade work shifts so I do not get a short week for the other or might take 2 weeks off.
If Andrew and Katie prefer it to be in July and it to be 2 short weeks it would be hard to go against this as they are hosting this but I can see it being bad for people who would be forced to take more days off (since here if I take a day off I take Mon through Sun so if it ends on the next Tues I'd have to take 2 weeks off to cover those 5 days)

Hm, Im gonna have to go with August 16th. Im more than likely going to be trying to take a few weeks off work in may sometime, so if I can have at least 3 months inbetween it might be ideal. And this way Wonn gets to go, and honestly, i think the people who are starting school can afford to miss one or two days.

Alright, pretty clear that we can throw the late August date RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW. Between late July and mid August, looks like we're leaning toward the July week (some people PREFER August 16th but sounds like they'd all be able to make it in July if need be, whereas we'd be cutting off at least 4 or 5 people by doing August 16th just by this preliminary count).
So I'd suggest at this point we focus in on late July, and our next step is that Jimbo has a talk with Andrew to ask...
* any particular reason for wanting Thur-Tues, or does he just like the lower ticket prices?
* if there's no important reason, and we pushed the start date back to Saturday the 28th OR Sunday the 29th OR Monday the 30th...

- everyone could take one week vacation instead of two
- we'd all be flying out Thursday OR Friday OR Saturday, should give us time to get settled back in and be ready for work on Monday

Yeah thats the best idea, starting it on Saturday instead. I never really understood why that wasnt being pushed for earlier. hope that works out :)

I would support something like this for sure. Lots of benefits for us but it's all up to the hosts!

The reason for Thur- Tue per Mrs. W
"Hey Mrs. Weatherton! A couple of us were wondering on the dates for this years VA meet and why its ending on a tuesday instead of the sunday? Its a little hard involve a week vacation with 2 different weeks. So i'm assuming some people (like myself) will only be able to stay till Sunday and have a Thursday-Sun meet. Is it just easier for you guys or just trying to change it up?"

Voting period is OVER, Andrew has just confirmed that we'll be able to push it back a little. Confirmed final dates are
Saturday, July 28th - Thursday, August 2nd
