my horses are florida, boston, and la (edit and I've seen zero hockey games this year, this is to get me interested in the playoffs)
-
Note: I know nothing about hockey, just wanted to participate!
Rangers in 5, Capitals in 7, Panthers in 6, Penguins in 6
Canucks in 4, Sharks in 6, Blackhawks in 7, Red Wings in 5
In all seriousness, since when did St Louis field a good hockey team?!

2011-12
-
Jimbo's preds are the last ones that count
also LOLUONGO
-
I'm not sure which makes me happier, Vancouver losing their home opener or Pitt blowing a 3-0 lead.
-
How about the third option: Havlat scoring in OT?
-
Heatley for Havlat has been gold (minus his 39 games out with injury, hurt himself hopping over the bench). Havlat has been the best Shark since he came back from injury, basically saved the season.
Not sold on Setoguchi for Burns yet, though.
-
Phoenix has a 1-0 lead thanks to the referees. Chicago lost through many faults of their own but ultimately if was the officials that gave the Coyotes the game.
-
XFD Canucks!
That is all.
-
Absolutely amazing one in Glendale. I am so happy right now.
-
Pitt down 0-3, love it. Hoping for a sweep!
Also, Lakers game being turned around for a Kings game - LAL ended at 3:30, Kings game at 7:30. crazy. I'd like to see a video of that. Lakers go to OT, crew probably starting to shit their pants.
-
I really don't want to see the Penguins swept because as of right now it is by far the most entertaining series to watch. I'm fine with the Penguins losing, but I want to see the series go at least another 3 games.
-
Heading to the Sharks game tonight! My first playoff game in any sport, I'm stoked.
-
Have fun!
-
Was very fun and loud, minus the loss! Blues looked really good...
-
lol rags. how have they not eliminated Ottawa yet?
lol 10 GA flyers. Guess they aren't so good with 3-0 the other way.
Eastern conference is a joke, at this rate the ECF will be bruins/PANTHERS.
Now, to go watch Vancouver's last game of the season (and the resulting riots)
-
yes... the bruins are destined for greatness the way they keep... barely beating... the crapitals.
-
I'm waiting for a Kings / Panthers SCF. You heard it here first!
-
^
Yotes/Panthers, TBQH
-
Yotes/Panthers - worst ratings possible?
Also damn these Blues...
-
Chicago stays alive. Sorry about your loss, Phil.
-
way late but... I had picked
Vancouver 5
Blues 6
Phoenix 7
Wings 6
-
Rangers 5
Bruins 6
Devil 7
Pens 6
seems I'm doing terrible too :D I don't think any of these are still possible but the in 7.
Also Blues vs Bruins for the SCF
-
Vancouver, SJ, Det, Chi, Pitt, NYR, Boston, NJ all on the verge of elimination. I know SJ and Det were underdogs, but you wouldn't have thought so to start the season, and NJ isn't "great" but the opp is Florida so lol. All 8 playoff series could end up surprising in one way or another.
I'm looking forward to STL / LA if it happens.
Sharks were disappointing for the last 3 months and were 0-4 against the Blues in the season series. Game 1 gave me hope, but I was ready for a loss well before last night :) I just wonder if they're going to totally blow things up yet. As long as they keep Couture Pavelski and Havlat, I'll be fine with any moves they make.

It's Marleau they need to banish to some hellish abyss. Those guys probably arent going anywhere
LOL VANCOUVER IS COMPLETE
B's STILL ALIVE
Cryers drowned Shittsburgh in their tears!
Awesome games today. Ten straight hours on the couch was not good for my legs though.
-
I'm still questioning why I picked Vancouver to win their series this year, I never pick them in these prediction threads... ah well. Yotes advance on a perfecto for me, so round 2 in the west is set at:
Kings ( 8 ) vs Blues ( 2 )
Preds ( 4 ) vs Yotes ( 3 )
I'm liking both the lower seeds right now, but there's no need to commit to a pick until Friday (NYR/OTT game 7 is Thursday). Whatever the case, it's nice to have variety in the west after the first round for a change!
ED: Fuckin' smilies.

Canucks in 5
Sharks in 6
Blackhawks in 6
Red Wings in 6
Canucks in 4, Sharks in 6, Blackhawks in 7, Red Wings in 5
LOL

Of course Marleau will leave after this season - it always happens when I buy a jersey that the player has to leave.
I like Marleau just as an all time shark, but not for his contribution the last few years in the playoffs. Doesn't have the grit needed.
-
I got Jimbo'd as well (0-4 for west lol) I have no interest in any series except the philly series for the rest of the playoffs lol
-
I'm just going to have to root for total chaos from this point onward. Though the quality could be salvageable if we end up with NY/Philly/LA/Nash which I bet the NHL would love

New Jersey in 6

Caps 6 (defensive/goalie battle I. tilting that I didn't pick caps first round; I was a believer. knew the series would grind 7, thought the defending chUmps would represent on home ice.)
Flyers 5 (would say 6 if Hedberg gets a start, but they'll probably stick with Maaaaaaar-ty)
Blues 6 (defensive/goalie battle II. rooting for Flyers-West, although I'm cool with 'cock. Hitchcock, that is, and the Blues in general.)
Preds 6 (defensive/goalie battle III. welcome to 2-1 games)
Defense wins championships?? This round should have a ton of tightly played games, except in the case of the Philly series, as always.
Also, only 3 of 8 teams left who have won a cup in their history, with one of them going home after this round, guaranteed. Parity!
-
Can't say I'm pleased with the end result, but bruins/caps was a great series. Too bad Bergeron was shit in game 7, had to be him with the game on his stick early in OT. Not sure how I feel about him (likely) taking the Selke after that...
Anyway!
Caps in 6. (Bruins were better in rd 1 than the Rags (lol sens) no reason to see why Wash can't pull off another 'upset'. Really impressed with the Caps defense (never thought I'd be saying that) How did this team not win the SE, again?)
Devils in 5 (Gonna see some god mode from Kovalchuk, calling it now. Also, 55 goal series in round 1? Philly only won that because they were the better run 'n gun team. Devils actually play defense)
Kings in 6 (Both teams pretty similar on defense, LA 'on paper' has the better forwards, so I'm going with them, also giving me a lot of laughs at nucks fans earns my pick here)
Yotes in 7 (Went back and forth on this one for awhile, preds are a great team, best team on paper out of the final 8, but I think this is going to be a gritty, physical series which plays to Phoenix's advantage. Like every non Flyers series, defense is a wash between these two)

Flyers < Devils in 6
LA > St Louis in 7
Nashville > Phoenix in 5
I think st louis will likely win but still going with L.A.
-
32 TOTAL SOG in caps/rags G1. Definitely two and probably all three Ranger goals were very stoppable pucks. Hloltby, where was that first round stuff?
And what happened to Jimbo's participation? I, for one, will accept his picks late.
-
woops my pick was wrong, its supposed to be flyers > devils in 6. silly typo
-
Your correction/clarification just lost you some points!
-
shame it only went 3OT
-
Kings advance!
Devils and Yotes pretty much guaranteed to advance!
If the Caps win, lol everyone in this thread. (Except NG, who had his head on right when looking at the West)
-
Sharks fans really going to start hurting themselves if it's LA / Phx - one of them guaranteed to make the finals, when the Sharks have had the most success in the last 10 years in the division and never made it that far once :X
-
You can take the "if" out of that sentence, octo!
-
Also, crazy playoffs continue with NJD advancing. I'd brag about getting that pick right if I hadn't gotten basically every other pick wrong before it... I just thought Philly looked awful in Rd1, simply Pitt imploded that badly.
Kings/Rangers, if it happens, would be a pretty fun SCF. Ultimate east/west battle. Although Van/Bos was a bit better, as you got the east/west with the USA/CA as well.
-
Yep, Devils advance as expected, just need the Caps to not blow the next two games late for a perfect round!
-
Well this round has been absolutely disgraceful. I won't have an internet connection until sometime next week so I will get my next round picks in early.
Devils losing in 7

After a totally awesome 0/4 quarterfinals (go me!), I'll go wtih...

Never Stop Goosesteping
Rangers in 7
Kings in 4

Coyotes are out. Kind of figured the Kings would win, but I figured I'd take the non popular choice since I'm clearly way ahead of everyone as is. Devils are legit though.
-
whoo Kings in 5! I'm the best!!!
-
I will go with Kings in 5.
Give me Jonathan Quick for the Conn Smythe.
-
Kings sweep, Quick MVP
-
Kings in 6
-
Stanley Cup Finals are set! From the East it's the 6 seed, New Jersey Devils and from the West it's the 8 seed Los Angeles Kings! Remember to predict the winner, how many games, and the Conn Smythe (MVP) winner.
Kings in 6
Anze Kopitar MVP.
-
The FINALS match is set! It'll be
6. New Jersey Devils vs 8. Los Angeles Kings
Remember to also make a pick for the FINALS MVP, that's worth 1 bonus point.
Ngamer the Pickslayer
8. Los Angeles Kings > 6. New Jersey Devils in 7 games
The Most Valuable Hokeyman will be Jonnie Quickstick.

Gotta stick with the team I've been picking every round on this one. Kings look great and all, but I just don't see them topping Red Wings East in a 7 game series. Also worth noting that the Devils actually had to play some tough teams to get this far and are battle tested, Kings played three joke teams, and if they lose one early in the series in Jersey, it will mess them up bad since they haven't had to deal with being behind, well ever.
Devils in 6, Kovalchuk for MVP.
-
NJ Developers in 7, and I'm down with ZJP for MVP yeah you know me.
-
Devils in 6
-
Kings in 5
Kopitar
-
Devils in 5, old goalie
-
Goose That Gander
Devils in 7
Martin Brodeur MVP
-
guess I'll pick Quick for MVP along my prediction!
-
Kings win and Quick takes the MVP, resulting in an Ngamer NHL Postseason Championship!
(probably)
-
at least I got the stanley cup match right and MVP! so surely I got 100000 points there!
