Title: Silo DLTK
Post by: TreAKAHotdog on September 09, 2012, 01:41:18 pm
What if you could make the counter tick in reverse?

Silo #1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umxiGTh-GF4#)

What if you could live longer than 14 minutes?

Congrats on posting vague videos that offer the potential of important strategies, without revealing your "secrets" thus wasting everyone's time.  Congrats on being mature and being a positive influence in this community.  Congrats on being "cooler" than everyone else because you lived longer than 14 minutes and can reverse the timer.  I bet all the betches love you for this.

You are the cancer that killed the elite Trent.  I hope you're proud of yourself.

While I do think Goose was a bit harsh there, I agree that some more information wouldn't exactly hurt. Seeing Silo being beaten with DLTK settings would be epic to say the least. Good luck to everyone who dare to try.

Nice strat in that second video. I found another way to do it:

1. Start Silo.
2. Turn on invincibility with the button code (http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/197462-goldeneye-007/cheats).
3. Wait 14 minutes.
4. Turn off invincibility.

Statue got you down?  Don't you just wish Trev would walk close enough to you so you could slap him?

Do you suck at Train?  Can't get out in time before you are engulfed in flames?  Wish you could laser the locks at your own, comfortable pace?

People need to stop inquiring about these new "discoveries". Trent is giving vague descriptions with no intention of explaining...... TROLL

Even if some of it is BS, he's clearly always been the king of the boards. He's way too entertaining to not like his posts  ;D

I'm a lot more mature now Karl after having been cheated on by the love of my life.  It's forced me to grow up in many ways I wasn't expecting.  Not only that, but now the girl I was involved with this summer just told me she doesn't want to keep things going in the fall while she is away at school.  Man, relationships really show you how to grow up and mature as a person.  It is real life.  These are real people problems I'm dealing with now.

You may or may not have matured Goose, but your posts are still the most immature on the boards currently. You whine, whinge and complain. From my perspective, based on the way you are talking, you have not matured at all. Just because you fucked a couple of girls and got owned doesn't make you more mature than anyone else.

'Real people' problems? Everyone here is a real person. You keep bring up this notion of maturity so I assume it means a lot to you at the moment. Here is some advice.. if you want people to think you are mature, you can't just tell them and they will believe you. If you want us to think you're mature, act like it. Currently you're not doing that, and thus no one thinks you are any more mature than you were 5 years old. The only difference now is that you're crying about your break ups.

I've been thinking about a few possible strats for Silo.

1. Shooting during the cutscene with 2.4 could lure the guards in the cutscene to a better position, but it doesn't work because the camera is behind a wall or something. However, don't the PAL and JAP versions have different cutscenes from the NTSC version? Maybe shooting during those could be helpful.

2. For anyone who owns the JAP version, is there body armor in Silo in 007 mode? Maybe we could use it to run past some guards. The group before the third fuel room comes to mind; after running past them, we could blow them up like in Miika's TAS.

I've tested this on PAL before but it doesn't work on any of the cutscenes and I'm guessing it wouldn't work on the JAP version either.

Maybe someone with the JAP version can answer your other question about the body armour.

JAP has different intros just like PAL and I guess if anyone wants to beat Silo on DLTK JAP is the way to go since there's one BA in every fuel room or at least in 3 of them. Im too lazy to check out if there's one in the first fuel room.

Wow 3+ BA's? If you could use them to run past sets of guards without dying then it might make the level more doable.

There's 3 BAs on 007 mode just as it is 3 BAs on 00A. One in 2nd fuel room, one after the 3rd fuel room and one in the 4th fuel room. The latter two only have 4 bars instead of 8. Completing a level on DLTK is arguably easiest on JAP since you'll find BAs everywhere.

Nice, I didn't think there were three. The first one would probably be the most useful, but the second and third would at least make it safer to run toward Ourumov. Do you need to do anything to make a JAP cart work on an NTSC console?

No. Go Go 20/20 DLTK Manocheese :)

Alex Anderson had to modify the chip in the back to make a JAP cart work in my NTSC console, I don't think you can just pop it in and suddenly have a working cart...

I thought 2 of the 3 armors were half-armors? Half armors certainly aren't strong enough to survive a KF7 shot either I thought.

Can you pick up two, though? I.e. pick up a full armor, get hit, pick up two half armors, get hit.

The only thing you need to play Jap is to change the back of your Jap cartridge to an NTSC one. Otherwise everything's the same for the compatibility. You'll need a "special" screwdriver though, but you can easily find it on Ebay.

when you have half armors the next half armor you get wont make a full armor so i dont know if that would help.

Theres a multitude of ways to get a japanese cart working

Buy a japanese n64
Buy a universal game converter
Buy a security bit and change the backs with a sports title
Mutilate the back of the cartridge so it fits
Some sort of n64 modding

I highly recommend option 3 lol

Thanks for the info. The half armors will be useless, then, but the full armor will probably be useful. I think I'll look for a JAP cartridge and one of those gamebits.

And be sure to get the smaller gamebit, the large ones are for systems

Shouldnt you survive with a half BA and full health and one hit from a kf7? Pretty sure you do.
Title: Re: Silo DLTK
Post by: Wyst3r on September 17, 2012, 02:14:50 pm
Sure, but how much health is lost from the first shot when you have full health + full BA? Will you still survive the second shot with half BA + (full health - damage from first shot)`?

I wonder in what sections these BA's might be most useful? The corridor with 3 guards before 3rd room seems like an obvious choice. But i dunno about the 2nd half BA?

I just tested it and a KF7 shot does 10 bars of damage, which is less than I thought. If you got hit with full health and full armor (16 bars total), you would survive with 6 bars left. If you picked up a half armor after that, you would have 10 bars. I'm not sure if you could survive another shot. I don't think there's a way to test this on NTSC, since there's no level where the enemies have KF7s and there are both full and half armors available. Maybe someone with the Japanese version can test it. Even if it works, I wonder how useful it would be to survive another shot, given how far into the level the half armors are. It would make running toward Ourumov safer (assuming you could also survive a DD44 shot), or maybe we could use it to skip killing the three enemies near the first set of computers in the final room.

just tested it, and you do indeed die with a 2nd ba with 10 bars left from a kf7 shot.

Meh =/ I guess you could take some damage from a explotion and get another BA do add to like 11 bars in total and survive when killing guards or whatever, if that would work cus Im quite sure you cant pick another one right away.
