There was some discussion about this in theelitegaming chat today. We need to plan a race. Probably an Agent race to start. The biggest obstacle is finding a time that can work for as many people as possible. SOOOOOOOOO just post when you can do it and we'll see what we can work out!!
I usually can stream freely from midnight-5am EST. This is like 6am-11am for you Euros. I know that's shitty. If I wake up before 3pm ET, like, I could do it from 10am-1pm EST for sure. That's about 4pm-7pm Euro time.

Basically you go in the irc channel and write a bunch of commands. It counts down and we start racing. You can set your stream into the race viewer which makes it easy to follow everyone's progress without split screening. This will avoid the lag we saw last time when Wouter/Marc/Illu tried this.

I think you should do what the Zelda community does and pick a set time each week to do races. Find a reasonable time for people who are likely to do it at first. Make it a weekly thing (or maybe a monthly thing if you think weekly is too ambitious) and more people will join.

I would be in for PD PA races if more people are interested. I ran a 1:30:03 first try last weekend :smokin: Let me know in advance, because setting up the streaming stuff will take quite some time with my current housing situation.
Could someone maybe suggest a cheap capture card with zero noticeable lag? Playing on my computer would make things much less laborious for both streaming and recording PRs (i don't have a TV at my new place).

Well anytime from now and like 14hours ahead or so I could start a race.

Tested this out with Goose and we got it running just fine.
So we could do races with more players eventually.

I guess with the "add screen region" option on xplit I could also have these kinds of races shown on my twitch, provided that I have the other players races up on screen while I race. Which I have ofcourse because it's important to see what your opponents are doing.
The "add screen region seems to only copy onto the stream whatever is showing on your computer screen at the moment, whatever part of the computer screen you marked. That's why if only racing trough that I'd have to open 3 browsers if I was racing 3 people and squeeze in those onto my computer screen all at once.
But with speedruns live it's so great because it also guarantees that people get the start signal at the same time and it also records your time provided you only post .done in the chat right after you have pressed start after cradle to get to the end credits.

I'm down for this. A weekly thing would be cool. Preferably in the wekeend, saturday would be best i suppose. So basically Goose, the viewers can see our races at the same time, but we can't see the opponments we are playing against? That would ruin the fun imo. It would feel like still playing single when you have no idea what level the other racers are at. I'm available from like 10am to 2am at night on saturdays basically. Week days, 4pm to 11pm. I suppose it would be most arrangeable if the euroes race late night and Goose and whoever else play late afternoon. I might be wrong, but that seems the best way.

I agree with having it on the weekend too, I think most people would concur. However, regarding the player not being able to see the opponents' screens is nothing we should worry about. It's not like the player would check, it would waste time and it can ruin your rhythm in the game. The player would also not want to know that somebody is far ahead, it will screw up the player's motivation.

It can definitely help to check where the other players are at, so you could adjust your strategy accordingly. If someone is like far ahead I know I might need to take more risks to catch up, or if someone screws up a mission I would take it more easy to secure the win.
And yes we can see the other racers posisions, Marc knows this already but just telling others too. We only need to have the computer on and enter into the SRL to watch like the viewers.

Yeah but I don't think it would be a big advantage. It will also be hard to apply the slight advantages you own because of the pressure. If however you strongly think the advantages are huge then we should find out a way to prevent players from checking the opponents' screens.

No it's not a problem, it should definitely be allowed to check your opponents posisions, it makes it much more of a race. What if marathon runs were run where the opponents had to run on different roads so they can't see what pace their opponents are running :P
So yea it's a good thing you can see your opponents.

Yes lol, see where the other opponments are at, no discussion. All racers would agree on this. Wouldn't be much of a race if you can't see your opponments.

Me, Illu, Goose and Wouter just did 4 Agent races on speedrunlive! Results:
Illu - 2
Inkosi - 1
Goose - 0
Wouter - 0
Goose and Wouter only did 2 races though.
Illu won the final and 3rd. match with 5 seconds with me finnishing 2nd! I have to say i'm suprised how well illu can perform when it counts. He is certainly not easy to play against. I'll be ready next time and in it to win it!

Well, on the last race, Mark had the plane blow up on runway. That hurt him considerably.
Also on the last one, Wouter was the only player to hit the train shot. Ironically, he came in last. :-\
It was insane seeing Marc make so much time up on train when he was behind. He's light years ahead of everybody when it comes to the locks.
It came down to the wire on cradle. Illu finished ahead of Marc by only 5 seconds.
All in all, these races were really exciting to watch. It would be great if we could get more people involved.

Eh i hate to make silly excuses. Literally you could always make excuses on every speedrun, even if you get an almost perfect run and finnish 2nd. But yea i forgot to lay a nade in the hut to prevent plane to blow up, own fault.
Forgot to mention that Goose played NTSC (or JAP?) and rest of us played PAL.

I was ahead of Clemens going into Cradle the last time we played in Minnesota and choked, that's when I was in form though ... I want to play Illu :)

In the 2nd race Illu, Marc and I did, Illu was slightly ahead of me going into Cradle but I killed Trev at the bottom of the ramp 35 style to take 2nd ;)

I actually forefitted one race too because my console froze on caverns.. amazingly, too bad because that race was very even between me and Marc also, I was like 2-3sec behind.
So be sure to dust off your 64s well before a race :P
Oh and btw, I tried to say this before, but the plane does not blow up on runway if you forget to plant a nade in the hut, you can still prevent it ;)

Today I could race in 2-3hours.. or in like 6-8hours from now, 8 hours from now is the deadline today for me to start a race though.
Either that or around 16 hours from now.
Marc and I did say yesterday that we were gonna do a best of 3 rematch today though.
Also Marc is coming here on tuesday probably so then we're gonna probably stream some multi etc on the elite stream.

Yes! That would be IDEAL. Everyone streams on their own channel, and theelitegaming has all the streams going together.
I probably can't race today. *maybe* in 15-16 hours yeah.

I guess I'll catch you at noon here if you stream 15-16 hours from time you posted. Also Illu, would be awesome if you could stream right now! I'll probably wake up at 6 am just to catch any sort of stream.

Yea, though I will have to be logged onto the elite channel to be able to put a stream up there.
Hmm well there might be one problem I just figured, for sure if I was not participating I could go onto the elite channel and just add screen region. Problem is that I'm not sure if I can make my own stream show at the same time, I might only be able to show the other participants races there.
This could also mean my opponents couldn't see where I'm at and in that case I won't do it ofcourse.
Someone who is not participating could easily just log onto xsplit and put the streams on the-elite channel trough SRL, but I could still give this a shot, it might be easy if we are only two participants, not sure with multiple with also showing my own stream.

I am very interested in watching this. The speedrun with Coch and Jimbo was so close they were both falling down the hole in Cradle at the same time. I do think there should be a way to see the screens of others because it will definitely change the strategy in later levels. You know have no idea how risky to be because you don't know if you are ahead or behind. Why take high risk strats if you're ahead? Why take low risk if you are behind? If you can't see others screens you just don't know what start is optimal. We should plan some more times because I am interested in watching.
