I much preferred the two PR threads being separate. When you saw someone post in the PR topic, you'd get excited kind of like seeing a new post in the WR topic. Now, when you see a post in the PR topic, you won't know if it's a PR or a discussion post. It really ruins the entire experience of browsing the forums.
For instance, if I saw Illu or Boss or Wouter or Jimmy had posted in the PR thread, I'd know they PRed. Now I see them post, I won't know if it's a PR or just some random discussion. This is very bad for the forums and ruins excitement IMO.
Discuss in here. Third and Scott Abbey made that decision between themselves without asking the council or any GE player or GE forum reader. Seems pretty unfair. Anyways, vote and discuss.

fan of separate myself for basically the reasons goose stated. (I do understand why people just want to comment on pr's in that thread tho) and the whole you can easily see who recently pr'd on the site ranking page so nbd.

The idea is that a panel of people will come together to discuss changes within the elite and vote on them when necessary.
This obviously did not take place here.
And Thiradell just confessed to me in IM that this was Scott's idea... lol because he doesn't even check the GE forum.
edit - I just figured out that the only reason they did this was because I kept reporting posts that weren't PRs in the PR topic. This obviously caused work for the mods (Scott and Third) to delete these posts. Scott didn't want to do it anymore so he came up with the idea to merge the threads back (thus spamming up the PR thread which he himself doesn't read with non PR posts.)

This isn't something for the Elite Council to decide anyway, it's just a forum issue. There's a reason people keep posting in the other thread...because that's where the posts belong anyway. It was hard to piece anyflippinthing together. Posts responding to a post in another thread is a horrible idea and impossible to follow. Third is a moderator on this board, people in chat discussed the idea with him and he was on board. Do you only accept original ideas the moderators think up themselves?
This came about as a response from the moderators to repeatedly getting posts from the PR topic reported for being in the wrong place. Here's how it went down:
Me: Third, got another one of those reports, want to take care of it?
Third: who had the idea to make a PR discussion topic anyway, I hate having to click back and forth
Me: I strongly agree with your above line
Ngamer: We should discuss this, does anyone REALLY race home from work to read all the new PRs that were earned that day?
Me: they are all posted on the rankings site anyway [link]
Me: Wonder if this is a council thing?
Third: Don't think so
Me: I agree, it's a forums-only issue, are you a GE mod?
Third: yes
We went over reasons to merge the topic, came to a conclusion, and did it. If you really care about the new PRs you can monitor the RSS feed and other pages on the rankings site. If you need something beyond that, feel free to put together an add-on for the boards to display PRs from the rankings feed or something.
