So apparently Marc has decided to change his name on the GE rankings to "Dark Inkosi." In my opinion, this should not be allowed. No one else has an alias on the rankings. If Marc doesn't want his full name public, then he should change it to "Marc R" like Durk did, or he should make an alias that's a real name like 50 Cent did with Curtis Jackson.
Having ONE alias that isn't a real name on the GE rankings is absolutely unacceptable. I am appalled beyond believe and I will fight to the death for my side on this matter.
-
oh ffs get over it
-
It isn't a big deal to be honest. People should be able to use whatever name they want on the rankings.

oh ffs get over it
who the fuck r u

GoldenEye has ALWAYS taken pride on having real names on the rankings. I'm fine with "alter egos" like Curtis Jackson or Robbie Williams, as well as abbreviations like Adam D, but I am NOT fine with Dark Inkosi. Where do we draw the line? Will we see Xx_DarK_LighT_xX_007 on the GE rankings? That's not acceptable.
This is about precedent. If we allow this, where will it stop?
If you want to use stupid aliases... play PD. GE is respected among other speedrun communities for its integrity, and real names or at least real sounding names goes a long way for that.
-
unacceptable imo, I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to this stuff, screw dark inkosi it looks terrible
-
Yeah this shouldn't even be an issue, it's real name and nothing else.
-
Yep, I'd say Marc needs to pick an alter-ego style name as opposed to an alias.
-
Dark Inkosi is dumb and Marc Rutzou is cool. :D

This would be a good feature for your own rankings Goose

If Marc's name on the GE ranks will remain as Dark Inkosi, I would like mine to be changed to "Xx_DarK_LighT_xX_007".
100% serious. :nesquik:
-
I would like my name to be White Inkosi please.
-
I would like my name to be Holy Penis please.
-
Yeah this shouldn't even be an issue, it's real name and nothing else.
You're trying to get me banned to gain 1 point on Frigate, right?
-
See, OHMSS, even though you're not using your real name, Gregor Dregenhart doesn't look like a fake name. More importantly, it's not a fucking ALIAS. In fact, no one would know your name isn't Gregor Dregenhart if you didn't tell them. So "names" which are reasonable and could be real are FINE in the case where you don't want your name publicly avilable on the internet.
Whatever, it seems like everyone agrees and we just need someone to give Marc a different name like "Mark Truthson" for instance, with MR as the initials still.
Otherwise I am going to start congratulating Ace's brother Danyal I. on his new Dam untieds :nesquik:
-
Yes, real names please, aliases makes the rankings look not anywhere near serious.
-
Agree with principle - real names / something that looks like a real name / first name with initial is just far superior over this nickname thing.
But seriously - couldn't have done this...not in public? Decorum please. :nesquik:
-
Doing it in public is a lot more fun. I guess I'm just a bit of an exhibitionist :nesquik:
It looks like AxZ changed the name to Marc R, so I guess that's that.
-
To AxZ!

we have the power to dictate our own rules. However it is of note that every major sporting organisation uses actual names of players. However all major E-sports organisations use nicknames.
-
I favor real names if for nothing else than historical reasons. I think the Goldeneye rankings were the first place I ever posted my real name on the Internet, and that was because I badly wanted to join and they only allowed real names :)
In this case, there's really no reason to change that I can think of.
