Title: GOLDENEYE 007 TRUE TOP 20
Post by: Darth Vader on November 30, 2013, 11:05:56 pm
Based on potential.

1. Marc Rützou. Can get any time he aims for, ridicolous skills, most consistent player, best strafer, an eye for every tenth, the best EYE FOR A RUN. TRULY A LEGEND OF THE DECADE, WOW.

2. Rayan I.. Pretty insane. Can get almost any time he aims for.

3. David Clemens. Also insane at GE, can get almost any time he aims for.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4 and 5: Luke Szklarz and Bryan Bosshardt. Both really skillfull players. Luke can beat most of Boss' times, but Boss could easily improve his times if he wasn't so worn out from the game. Boss seems to have the advantage from tons of experience, but Luke's skill evolve very fast very much like mine. Hard to tell who is true top 4 and 5.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6 and 7: Dan Cervone and Luke Pettit. These guys are really fucking good. Luke Pettit is the more dedicated player having an untied and have at least one more coming probably, but we all know how relatively fast Cervone skilled out all his times and became one of the top players of his time. Hard to tell who is true top 6 and 7.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8: Ilari Pekkala. Potentially one of the very best, but vegan experimenting and ball shrinkage was his downfall. Will he strike again? Was the champ for a WEEK.

9: Karl Jobst. Very skilled player who is about to show his potential on all levels.

10. Jimmy Bauer. This guy is really good. Maybe even better than Ilari and Karl, but hard to tell for me.

11. David Monteith. GOOD player.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. Alex Andersson. Really skilled player, lots of potential, been ranked very high. Can get stuff like B2 00A 56, but doesn't give a flying fuck about his times in general.

13. Glen Stevens. Really smooth and skilled player, but hasn't given a single fuck for a long time.

14. Eise Smit. Really good, but is lazy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guilherme Alberto 15th. Ryan White 16th. Eddie Lovins 17th. Ryan Koch 18th. Shawn Johnson 19th. Axel Zakrisson 20th.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Worst ranked: Jimbo.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who has any idea about legend Wouter Jansen. Most dedicated player of all time, but does his skill suffice if he got serious with the game again? Wouter might be the greatest GE player of all time, even better than me. Wow.

Forgot to mention Lockwood and Philip and possibly a few more. They obviously belong somewhere on the top 20 list.

haha, I peaked at like 10th place for a day, or a few hours, I would struggle to get back into the top 20. You can single me out for sure. I might have had shots at old wrs, train 00 old strat, frigate 00, caverns 00, aztec 00, silo 00, but those times are way better now then I could even imagine getting back then.

Kirkness doesn't deserve shit. He is the reason that I'm not fully proven, and perhaps the reason I lost the will to compete for better times. That and alex living in the same town as him, and not giving a fuck to help me recover my runs from his house. Thanks friend.  >:( :'(

Berube was a decent guy, but not cut out for long run.

^ THAT ladies and gentlemen was a vintage Brandon Sanford post.

Someone please record it for historical purposes.

Elaborate please. I heard some "proof tape got destroyed at a party" stuff.

The purest speedrunners in the world having the greatest skills are only me, Siglemic, Shaeden, Ennopp and zoast. The rest go apeshit or whatever when they get a 'good' time and refuse to call a bad time bad.

Clemens thinks a lot of his times are not very good.  :kappa:

Ace has a point about purity, and Shaeden's latest OoT any% WR is a good example of this. But I can't help but feel a little sad that for one of the most popular / competitive games around an awesome new time couldn't even be recognised for even a second. I guess when he gets sub 19 we'll see some sort of reaction...?

Stivitybobo is probably my favorite runner. Super skillful, knows what a good / bad run is, but also celebrates the good times like an emotional human being.

LMFAO @ Kirkness reference from Sanford. Also yes, that is a HISTORICAL vintage post from Brandon Sanford. Amazing.

Kirkness' explanation for not providing a vid for Cradle A 34 (iirc) was that the tape got destroyed at a party. He was also supposed to make a lot or some of clemens' old vids and Clemens threatened him to put a BOMB in his mail in 2009 or so when Kirkness made a short board appearance. Mouser making dem eliters MAD.

I agree with you on who the best speed runners are but just because people like me and whoever else go crazy over a time doesn't mean anything. I would expect a person who has achieved as many times as you to not go crazy either and you have played like what 7k hours on GE? I completely understand why you wouldn't have a reaction. But at first when people like me put in hard work because our skill level isn't that high yet we feel more reward for the achievement. Personally I love the rush, I don't like to sit quiet, and I love the adrenaline pumping me up it's who I am. I am more of an extrovert when I play and have energy. Idk why but for some reason I feel the need to explain myself. Idk who you were targeting in that statement but sorry that we react. I really like you as a person and like talking to you so i kind of take it to heart. Everyone knows you are the best you don't need to let everyone know. And I also know and will admit what times are bad. That's why I usually go for WRs and ones that seem out of reach. I like to overcome things out of my skill level and set my goals high based on my skill level. I could honestly get top 10 if I wanted to but I hate leaving a level that has mediocre times I feel the need to grind them as hard as I can til they are acceptable and maxed based on my skill level. I normally wouldn't explain myself but I care what you think cause you are my friend.

I got much more of a rush out of getting Aztec Agent 1:36 back in the day than all my untieds combined. When i got Train 58 it was like okay that's cool for a few seconds and then didn't give much of a fuck. The rush disapears gradually the more experienced you are. (Pretty sure top players can relate) It is the point of your Career where you find out that you actually are among the best you get those adrenaline kicks, then it gradually just becomes standard shit from your perspective.

Yeah dunno what "pure speedrunner" means, I think you probably just like those people and their respective dedication to the games they play. There's plenty of other good speedrunners who are emotional, and while it is often the calm, focused people who get the best times, that's not always the case, and it doesn't mean the rest of us can't celebrate achieving something.

Yeah Shaeden's reaction to 19:11 was cringeworthy, shameful, disrespectful, and frankly embarrassing.  It was a big "fuck you" to everyone who has ever speedrun OoT.  No person in their right mind who wins a World Championship, Olympic Gold medal, etc, would react that way.  Shaeden's reaction was as if he didn't care about speedrunning OoT, but in reality, he does care, otherwise he wouldn't be doing it.  Suppressing his reaction is just sad.

At least Ennopp and Siglemic show pride in their WRs, and upload them accordingly as "World Records," and tell people they have the world record when asked.  Shaeden just calls it a PB.  What a joke.

It's my personality to always talk during my runs and complain/celebrate accordingly when things happen. I'm a pretty good speedrunner so I couldn't care less about this whole purity nonsense.

Also, I just watched that 19:11. No big thang, see ya pizza.

Like I said before he's probably just stoic. I don't think he's suppressing his reaction but who knows. He probably feels really happy on the inside but doesn't really show it.

To him the run probably wasn't that good, so I can understand why he would reset even if it was a WR.

Ace is definitely on par with the guys he mentioned.  The thing is, the elite is so fucking good that the top 3 GE are on that level (Siglemic or Shaeden level,) and like 4th through 7th are still on a very close level (Nero or Moltov level.)
