I figured I'd make this topic to get this all out there. There are a bunch of controllers that are useful for GE speedrunning and are not (yet) considered cheating.
Firstly is the SuperPad, used by Boss and Ace for a few 2.X untieds.
Is this the proper SuperPad? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nintendo-64-Super-Pad-64-Green-Controller-/261430209305?hash=item3cde746b19
I might as well buy one soon.
There is also this "SuperPad" but I don't think it's the one Ace and Boss used for 2.X. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Super-Pad-64-Plus-controller-for-Nintendo-64-/171256855104?pt=US_Video_Game_Controllers&hash=item27dfb43a40
There is this Slovenian fellow, Zoki64, who makes custom controllers. Alex mentioned a Slovenian guy made the "hacking bitch" controller I used at AGDQ, so I imagine it's the same guy; http://zoki64.deviantart.com/
The control stick on the "hacking bitch" controller was gamecube style, with an adjusted circuit board, so it worked perfectly.
There is also this creation which I believe he made; https://i.imgur.com/wzvoGQd.jpg
I might try to contact this guy to get the 2.X controller + a controller with adjusted gamecube stick.
I also bought this for SM64, but it works well as the 2nd controller on 2.X http://www.lukiegames.com/n64-replacement-thumbstick.html
Actually playing with it 1.2 is impossible but it works well for holding a cruise position as you do in 2.X.
Happy questionably ethic playing everyone!

hi Walt!

I'm fairly sure if you have the technical expertise to design a controller to your personal comfort that doesn't "hack" or override what a standard N64 controller can do, then you're free to use whatever you wish!
Fishing controller to turn faster or something.

Jakob Schäfer made the "hacked" board for the GC-style stick (I've got four of them). He's got the layout and code for making your own if you want to. I posted a link to the last run of boards he made and sold a while ago. I can probably dig it up again if anyone cares (no one seemed to at the time).
Edit: Here's where he's been selling/interacting with people about them:http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5023.0 (http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5023.0)

Zoki made my custom ge and mp2 controllers yeah

This might be a controller/code from Zoki but I have a friend that dabbles with custom gaming stuff and he has some source code to put into a controller to make it a lot more responsive. Something about X/Y sensitivity manipulation. He's setting it up in a controller for me and I was going to test it and it might cause an advantage in speedrunning. I wasn't going to mention it until I tested it and post my findings but this topic made me think about it. Competition is getting so tough that people are trying to do anything to give them an advantage.

In terms of GC-style controllers (ones that use potentiomiters to measure input) there is the Lognet controllers which were made by the hori company I think.
I heard that the sticks are probably one of the best and they stick out a bit more as you can http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae327/bluedogrulez/5ea4d5d1.jpg (http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae327/bluedogrulez/5ea4d5d1.jpg)
The only problem is you need to use an OEM N64 controller circuit board and transplant that into the lognet shell, (other things can be done like just removing the control stick but there are some digitization issues?)
Never the less I would like to get my hands on one of those and play around with it.

Yes, the Logitech controller (made for hotel rooms) had a nice feel to the stick but the output was through a flat network cable (possible RJ-11, I don't remember). Removing the stick and interfacing it with the N64 controller worked but required a lot of dremel work on the shell. There were some old logitech controllers on Ebay a while back, running about $25 each.

Ran across some n64 controllers I never seen before.
Feel the love for the, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-64-Reality-Quest-Controller-Power-Glove-Equivalent/281282600767?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D21142%26meid%3D5732938071933777754%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9373%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D271418849924&rt=nc (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-64-Reality-Quest-Controller-Power-Glove-Equivalent/281282600767?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D21142%26meid%3D5732938071933777754%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9373%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D271418849924&rt=nc)

Looks pretty cool.
