Any predictions guys?

Ilari obviously the better player (both IL and Single Segment Any %)

I am for sure the underdog in this match up.

Easy win for Ilari or will he get trolled?

Ilari first to start Cradle, but hits Trev in the head causing him to run to the bottom.   :P

unfortunately I wont be around for it. good luck guys!

Most insane randomness that I've seen during practise is like:

- Guard blew up Val on statue with Nade, still preventable if you saw him but would lose time to look out for him and I've never seen this before or since then :P

- Silo, scientists failing from console explosions despite killing the nade pulling guards, maybe preventable with being faster and this I've only seen once too I think.

Most stuff seem preventable imo but watching out of every possible way that the run could fail might lose a bit of time, race could be decided on someone failing an obj I guess, would be insane with dual sub 23 runs.

Those are my thoughts now like 6 days before race, I will be in Jönköping on thursday already though it seems and gonna meet up with a couple old friends from my last time in school few years ago.

I will actually bet on Illu.

No point in sending via mail or paypal though.  We will just pay next time we see each other IRL.

I will take $20 on Illu.  Which should be good for... $9.22 or something?

Yea it's kinda ridicilous but sometimes when you skip both cinemas like we do on RTA runs there's a guard near Val and that one run he just happened to throw a nade.

Nice run Illu, decent race time!

From what I saw, the event was disappointing. Runners were silent, no hype at all, no emotions, no meaningful commentary. Couldn't understand a single word of the OoT commentary and hundred chatters typed FIX MIC QUALITY PLS to no avail. They have yet failed at highlighting runs and the linked schedule is completely wrong.

If someone wants to watch the run, it's here @ 12:45:40

Dreamhack arena setup + better sound quality + interesting runners (Goose GE, Super Metroid Race commentated by Golden, SM64 race between Sig and Puncay, Cosmo commentating his runs, etc) would be a beautiful spectacle to behold.  Probably into the deep 100 000+ viewers if promoted correctly.  The venue was amazing, but unfortunately that's all that was amazing.

Europeans are just so fucking tepid that it's impossible for them to put on an entertaining show.  It's amazing that an entire continent can be so humdrum.  It'd be a real shame if the event was so boring that Dreamhack organizers don't have speedrunning in there at all next year, but that's very possible with the way things went.

So who puts on the rest of Dreamhack?

I'm glad to know dreamhack represents an entire continent <3

Ok I guess I'll clarify

European speedrunners are the most tepid people around.  None of them are interesting (except Alex Tolio who is an outlier as *the most* interesting speedrunner.)

Perhaps this is a direct cause of social programs being so good in Europe that you have to be a COMPLETE degenerate beyond all repair to start speedrunning.  In USA it's easy for your life to go to hell, can't afford a computer or anything so you dig out your old N64 and start speedrunning.  But in Europe where the government gives you free money all the time, it takes a special kind of mega-dengerate life failure to begin speedrunning old video games.  This perhaps explains why European speedrunners are such boring losers (with Marc Rutzou being the #1 worst.)

Worst Most Boring European Speedrunners

1. Marc Rutzou
2. Goronguy
3. Admiral SMIT
4. Illu (circa 2012-2014)
5. Cpkaka

Actually come to think of it there are a *few* decent, fairly interesting European speedrunners like Demon9, crazyyinsanee, Ennopp, but they are so few and far between that when they go to ESA or Dreamhack Speedun event their bright personalities are temporarily extinguished by the boring, atheistic, nihilistic lifestyles and personalities of all the others.

Didn't Ace use to watch Goronguy and he had a lot of followers for bing funny or something? Marc is no way #1 lol, he might actually be the LEAST boring. I think it's probably got something to do with the lifestyle differences when growing up, like watch Eise's tour vid and see how chill his life was in that country house with his sisters boyfriend watching LILO and stitch smoking a joint, compared to in the US and Canada where everyone is watching Hyped up hockey games, being blasted with McDonalds advertising while watching the latest transformers for the 6th time.

Believe it or not but I had almost exactly the same post typed out before I decided to erase it and go with a short troll post, thought it was too serious etc. but as far as I can tell, you are 90% correct about your theory.

Edit: Luke brings up one good point, which is that there are so many North American losers in the world that they basically decide what is hype, funny or popular on the internet and what is not, leaving the Europeans to follow and copy but they are different people. Also, English is not their native language which is kind of a big thing.

Marc's stream is a 90/100 when he does ILs and 100% with commentary. His stream might in fact be the only good European stream.

It's true

I gave him a bad ranking in the rankings topic solely because of his recent trolling.

Marc had potential to be the Speedrun KING of Europe, with as many or more viewers as me all the time.  Plus he has immense free time thanks to the Government of Denmark Handicapped Peoples Social Assistance Program, so he could have built a really incredible stream.  The lost potential of an InkosiDeVinyl partnered Twitch stream can only be compared to the lost volumes in the destruction of the Library of Alexandria.

Yea I went vegan 2012 and been trying to get back since then, I might never have gone vegan if I had been busy having to make a living, though I must say the government in sweden isn't really as crazy with wellfare anymore as it was and there's a few homeless people now which we never saw before. I was busy trying to focus with all the noise around and there was some light reflections on the tvs, I'm happy with just winning this race though and much of what I've been doing lately has been a step in the right direction for me personally and that's all this monkey does atm.

Ludendis corner would definitely needed something more, at least something that said retro game speedrunning or so with large text to possibly draw more people there. It's still good that they went to dreamhack and I'm thankful I could participate in the race as I was not sure I would be running anything anywhere at the start of this year.

Such a cool race, but Ludendi's stream very boring :(
A good example on how NOT to put up a good and entertaining speedrunn show.
