Title: Post new GE bucket lists here!
Post by: Troublesome Moral Code on May 15, 2014, 11:23:29 am
I've been thinking a lot about this, and I figured why not document it somewhere while I still have the idea? This way, we can remind ourselves what we wanna do and see what others have in mind as well. Feel free to post your devious plans and discussions.

-Frigate
The only thing that I want to do first is get Frigate out of the way, PR sweep on all three difficulties. I've been playing 00A for about a week and a half and can fail at least 1:10 consistently so I'll be happy with that. Even 1:09.
For SA, I don't really know. I have 1:07 so I would be happy with anything lower. I haven't touched SA for years so I don't know what I could potentially get. 1:04? I'll play for 1:04.
Agent, I will get 23.
Obviously this is going to take a massive amount of time, but the time is right and allows for me to retain my sanity since I don't have too much time during the day to play all at once.

-Undoubted Achievement
Once Frigate is out of the way I'll then go through all of my PRs and re-do or beat them all so I have a video. Undoubted has been a goal for a while, but I think I'll actually go through with it soon. Silo was the one I dreaded the most but it's actually not a terrible level for me it turns out.

-The other 23
-Dam SA 1:18
-Dam 00A Sub 2
-Top 10 on relevant rankings
-80+ points for all levels
-Aztec leaderboard

I like this topic. I need way more WRs basically, that's the key to catching Illu and making a run at Goose.

Dam 00A 1:58
Bunker 1 00A 1:04 or something; 1:08 (untied when set  :nesquik: is my oldest PR)
Silo 00A NTSC no armor run, hopefully 1:27
Frig 00A 1:10 or under - the WR strat completion rate is obscenely bad
S2 SA 0:51 or better - just nail the throw once, never play it again
Control Agent 3:57 - I am a good Control player, but 3:57 looks so insane
Caverns 00A 1:34 or something
Egypt 46x3

That plus all the WRs I'm missing like S1 1:02, Depot 25, S2 48, Streets 1:55s, etc.

Unlikely, but I'd love to take a stab at Bunker 1 SA 0:21 if Ace never plays for 0:20 - DCJBRI would be sick.

Final rank would be near 7th.

123/123 proven - I have 29/63 PD times proven and 43/60 GE times proven atm, don't count Duel PA 0:10 as a PR, since it's not.

123/123 times worth points - I have 62/63 times worth points in PD and 46/60 times worth points in GE.

At least 18 GE DLTKs - Leaving Train and Silo to the end.

Proving my Duel PA 9 and getting LTK/DLTK 9 - Not GE, but I have it as a goal. I might try for it when I buy a new controller.

A few random PRs in normal mode for both games - In GE some are: Facility 49/58/58, S1 1:05/1:53/1:53, Frigate 0:25/1:10/1:23, S2 A 0:50, Statue 2:24s, Archives 00A 58, etc. I plan to PR in almost every GE stage, to be honest.

Improve Dam
Improve Bunker 1 SA
Silos
B2
Statues
Jungle
Controls
Aztecs

maybe a WR or two

couple more DLTKs

Dedicated Achievement on ranks

Dont care much about the other levels and I've already been in the top 10 and all. Top 5 is unobtainable pretty much. Might give my worst levels a shot though (e.g. Fac 00A, S2 00A) as well as Train but I suck more now. We'll see.

You better get started, most of the good ones get married pretty quickly.  There's a void in talent between 25 and 35  and looks are just all downhill at that point.

same with work, best way to get a high salary is to start now really

ideally it should go something like

-stop playing video games so much
-stop checking this site and the boards
-don't go into AIM chat for any reason ever
-find a decent girl  settle down
-move on with life

but that will only happen for the fortunate ones of us so...

Success in life and visitin these boards arent mutually exclusive. I have a great gf who wants to marry me and have kids. I play games and visit these boards. I have a decent job. I wrote a book and am about to start an online business.

There is nothing successful about too much attachment to the physical world, especially the balanced savage animal realm. Leaves live so they can die and die so that they can live, they have integrity because they live when it is time to live and die when it is time to die. They know those times because of their relationship to everything else.

Mankind do not live when it is time to live because they do not live in relation to everything else, but according to the dictates of their own egos, steadily march towards death-time because they want their own seperate integrity, defended by the creation of linear time.

- meet lockwood + goose, probably clemens and alex as well
- sub 1 100% maybe
- runway 35 to please karl
- bunker 20 to troll jimbo
- possibly facility 51

- retire from speedrunning when the first and any other one of the above have been done

This separate integrity feels assured by the steady ticking of linear time, like a heartbeat its existence is affirmed every second. It ticks until the very end, our heartbeat stops and we are no longer conscious of the ticking. The clock we have created never stops ticking, even if we can no longer hear it. It only mattered to us while we were alive, when it gave us order and what we perceive as integrity. However, the beat of the heart does not conform to the ticking of the clock, it has its own time and the clock does not know it; it is a secret. Only time will tell it.

Success in life and visitin these boards arent mutually exclusive.

Of course not, but the lifestyle often associated with heavy gaming- and online-involvement is obstructive to mainstream career goals. From what I observe, I think Goose's dedication to elite / GE / SM64 / OoT / Golf / chats / twitch / tumblr / instagram / twitter / reddit / celebs / pop / movies / news / sports and whatnot is very harmful to being productive otherwise.

My dedication to the last 10 things is fine, "normal people" are dedicated to all that stuff.  That stuff is everyone's "wind down 2-3 hours/day after work" stuff.  And in fact, success on social media plays a huge role in having successful businesses or other enterprises, so that is clearly not the problem.  The problem is the gaming.

The way to be successful in life is to grind something that you really enjoy as hard as I've been grinding twitch and streaming.  The lucky ones are those who enjoy grinding investment banking or commercial real estate or nuclear engineering that much.  Unfortunately, gaming is my passion, and the money isn't all there yet.  It's tough to know whether I should keep going in hopes more money does come into this industry, or find a new passion, like corporate law or neurosurgery to grind for the next 15-20 years until I'm wealthy and more attractive to women.
