Also this guy http://rankings.the-elite.net/~Askaruk/goldeneye
Got a good Silo SA time but not much else.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post (found nowhere else), I've started to grind ILs and sent my email to the rankings page (to post my runway 23 vid), but it's been quite a while and I've got no response... I was wondering how does the policy work, if it takes too long to background check etc. Thx

You just have to be approved by Jimbo, Axel, or Thiradell. Sometimes they forget to check the queue often enough to approve new accounts. I sent Jim an IM so he should get it done for you soon.

I never think to check the pending users page, it's not a part of my normal web surfing "habits" but I did finally approve you. I gave you a nasty color green, I'm sorry. If you want it changed, just PM me the exact HTML color code you want and I can change it over.

Thank you guys! Never mind about the color, I actually liked the blue better than my choice :)
Proud to be the 210th tied best goldeneye player in the world Kappa

Urgent proof call request:
http://rankings.the-elite.net/~Ngamer/time/11554
This guy is compromising the integrity of the ranks!
-
I actually remember when Ngamer got that time, he posted a detailed breakdown in chat like "got a boost at the corner after the guard" and "it came after three straight 1:15s!" I couldn't deprive him of what will soon be his only time worth points

^ worst post of 2014.

Hello all, I figured this would be the best place to ask this: what is the best means of proving a time outside of streaming or recording it?
I just picked up this game recently (1 week ago) and have been pouring most of my time of late into ILs. I have some fairly decent times considering how long I've been playing, and I've decided to work for Bunker 1 17. Although this is the 3rd most common record, I know that this will only be the beginning of the times I will have to prove once I achieve it. I don't stream or record at all simply because my computer cannot handle it. That's all there is to it and I'm working on upgrading. In the meantime, I was wondering if this would be adequate proof: A video, showing a completed objective screen, which I would then advance to the screen showing the time achieved. After this, I would show my actual console with no cheating devices attached as well as the hookups to the tv.
This is really the only thing I can think of that would be near impossible to fake, as I'm assuming that a simple picture of your 'Best Time' on the end screen is unacceptable.
If this is not an acceptable method of proof, please let me know what is. If it's just video, then I guess I'm SOL, but I understand. Thanks.

Hi TaylorTot, so for WR's and high point scoring times in general proof is requried. I believe this is understood to be direct game capture and webcam footage for example would not do (maybe for lower point times which are not WR's). One solution I purpose is record on DVD or VHS if possible? If you don't have the equipment then I would have patience and play for another level until you can capture your IL attempts.
The reason why a best time page alone is not acceptable is that it can be gamesharked in such a way and can be made to look like a n64 is attached and on etc. Similar with playing emulator footage on a TV or something. Watching the player put the movements in to achieve the time really is the only proof that is allowed and captured quality is the standard for WR's.

Thanks wodah, I understand. If unsubstantial proof was accepted (especially) for new players, then it would besmirch the integrity of the entire community. For now, I guess I can try to record with a DVD player or some other old school method because I don't plan on halting my grind. Also, since this is the proofcall thread, I guess whoever is in charge can just delete/rollback like all of my times since I don't have acceptable proof of any of them lol
-
VCR or DVD and video it with an iphone camera, should be okay until you them get a computer upgrade and capture your WRs
-
Taylor, if you're just going for common WRs and decent, 70-80 point PRs, then pointing a webcam at your TV, Marc Rutzou style, is acceptable proof.
You're allowed to claim times and whatnot until they're proof called. Many people on the rankings have 0/60 proof (Andrew Kent ranked 52nd comes to mind.) Keep playing, just don't for any insane WRs yet ;) and try to record something, somehow. Definitely work on getting a VCR or DVD recorder. Even really bad computers can make videos off a DVD; though I've heard most modern DVD recorders don't rip the videos to a computer. It is a tough problem.
Either way, according to the proof policy, Bunker 1 17 on webcam quality should be acceptable.
