Title: ***Retirement From Goldeneye 007 Speedrunning***

Will add a proper post when I have a chance on the tram.

So I knew after starting full time work that GE would have to take a backseat soon enough. I've come to realise that balancing it (proper dedicated, focused time) while working and having to move house again just wasn't going to happen. Don't worry I am no way finished with the game, unless something massive happens and I can't ever play at all... But I do need a good break from the game, probably a few months MINIMUM, time will tell.
Until then I wish all the new players luck with making their mark, I'm talking you Alec, Justin, Twiii, Sammy Rodgers, Dbx, Gus Riolo, etc. Karl will probably pass me before I have the chance to play again, no salt here, just a sick player making rounding off his times page. I'll be curious to see of he's capable / will go for something like Fac 43 or if it remains a 3-way tie for a while.
Eric, Phil and Daniel, you guys are secretly my favorites to watch so pls keep streaming and going for awesome times. (Mirror pls)
Lockwood, I don't know how long you plan on playing Hitman but it would be good if you go back to GE soon feeling fresh and keep the momentum up in wiping out your N/A's. I want to see you up the ranks when I get to meet you in January (no promises yet, but there's a reasonable chance we will meet)
Ace, nothing to say just keep destroying the game I guess!

Im considering retiring as well
Streets 154 is just not happening for me. I have to accept that I'm washed up. There is nothing impressive about spending 100h on an untied. If you can get an untied in 15-30 hours, that's cool. I'm just completely fucking irrel and need to give up video games.

I should make a thread tallying the number of times each top player has retired. All of the top 10 would probably be in there, with Clemens being at the very top with around 5 threads. :nesquik:

(About amended post) Trust me man I know what you mean. I had to stop playing from August of last year for 10 months. All together I've only had going on 4 months of activity here. and I'm about to move into a nice place and real life responsibilities really take a toll on being successful around here. You've accomplished enough to hold a great spot in the rankings and pick back up where you left off when you get a chance. I'll probably be in a similar situation like I was for those 10 months again soon. This isn't really a retirement for either person but when real life calls this has to take a backseat - trying to be seriously competitive here anyway.

obviously when every personal record takes you 50-100 hours it will be impossible to combine that with a job and a life full of responsibilities. This is no reason to not play games in general anymore tho. I fully understand Luke's story and it's a wise decision I guess, but no reason to leave the community and watch streams / comment / post / mumble I guess.

People usually make retirement threads after they've had a streak of bad sessions or just don't feel like playing for a bit. However after making the retirement thread the motivation instantly comes back and they PR again. Notice how Goose also got Streets SA 1:54 shortly after he made that post. Clemens also got a bunch of PRs after all of his retirements, etc.
Having said that I recommend Wodahs quickly make a retirement thread if he wants to get Streets SA 1:56 soon.

YOU'LL BE BACK
On that note, my retirement should be admired for how much I actually retired in 2003. I came back and got 3 Statue times in like 2007 but that's been it.
