Some people break the unbreakable. Some grind smarter than grinders. Some goes harder than hard.
No one came with something more impressive yet.
-
I'm pretty sure Train Agent 1:00 NTSC was more impressive.

Chris Ravioli - WAR! PA - 0:54

If you include PD, Lucid's Defense 1:37 is in this boat. I'd say Bunker 44 and Train 1:00 is in this league, but I wasn't as impressed as when I saw a 4 secs cut on Aztec. My first thoughts were, where the fuck did he cut these 4 secs? knowing the actual strat at the time. Then I saw the vid and I came. Clemens is an artist.

:nesquik:
Thanks, but lets not forget how amazing b2 58, train 101 etc were back in the day. Then aces unwhoard of insane pd times like g5 sa 42 etc were ridic at the time.
-
Since topic says elite history, i assume PD is included:
Chicago A 0:14
Attack Ship 2:06 (4 sec Agent untied...WTF)
For GE i'd agree with Train A 1:00/Bunker 2 SA 0:44. Train 1:01/Jungle SA 53 were pretty damn insane when they were gotten as well (Jungle obviously still is). Mark's Dam SA/00A and Train A/SA are incredibly impressive as well.
Alot of times like Karl's WAR 25 were super-hype when gotten as well, but it's difficult to remember just how cool the record was, now that 25 is kinda common. Illu's Jungle SA 0:54 was crazy as well, but was overshadowed by Ace's 53.
-
Can't say something about these Clem, I joined after he got them. 126 is the definition of untied
Chicago 14 was ridic too, yeah.
2:06 is amazing but doesn't change the 2:10 strat at all + the music in the vid ruined everything
-
doesn't change the 2:10 strat at all
That's part of what makes it so crazy though :p

I think 0:44 is slightly overrated. Clemens and I were failing legit 0:44s in 2008 and my 0:46 was probably a botched 0:44 anyway. Train SA 1:23 also falls in this league. Obviously both of them are very impressive, top 5 world records, but neither are the most impressive WRs in GE history. Defection 0:05 and Aztec 1:26 are are really good times, but only due to a new strat or timesaver. It would kinda be like Luke hoarding the Caverns SA strat and posting a 1:15 out of the blue. Good run with the new strat but nothing special and obviously Luke could have done this a few years ago since streaming etc. wasn't around. Train 1:00 is extremely impressive because under the same strat Clemens managed to clutch an insane run, lower what was considered to be one of the most epic WRs of 2007 (even though it was overrated a little), lower his own PR by 3 seconds, destroy a untied sweep and surprise everyone. I do think Marc or I could maybe tie it if we grinded but that doesn't take any value from it.
Chicago 0:14 is similiar to Train 1:00, although slightly less impressive since people did use garbage strats to get 0:15 back in the day (pause, no lookdown). I don't know about 2:06. It's more messed up than impressive to me. He just managed to fluke a low 19 ending on a 1:47 Elvis, and people have gotten a 1:47 Elvis numerous times so whatever.

100 is definitely my best speedrun time ever achieved imo. I think i could dupe 44 within 100 hours honestly but 100 I feel confident was once in a lifetime. 3 second pb out of nowhere, ended aces sweep that lasted 3 or 4 years and shocked the entire elite community.
Jungle sa 54 by illu was also an amazing wr at the time, it was considered the best wr in video games by quite a few people and had ridiculously good rng. Then ace got a :kappa: 53 which was also ridiculously insane
-
why not grabbing the controller and shocking the entire community again, Dave :kappa:
we miss you <3

Going back in my own personal memory... these are in no particular order I guess:
* Bunker 1 Agent 0:17 after a billion hours and a very cluttered WR table. This stood untied for nearly 3 years, and it was without pause strat at the time. Watch his vid again and see where he pauses by the black guards, SO insane.
* Runway Agent 0:22, falls in the same category as above but was a 2004 record. Seeing the 4 consecutive boosts on the Runway was really cool, and I believe I was the first to hear about this record on AIM back in March 2004! That's why this one is special to me
* Depot Agent 0:25, once again a record that cleaned up the WR page a bit. This record happened at the start of the 2010 Michigan meet for me and right as I was starting to speedrun the game again.
* Aztec 00 Agent 1:56, you guys are all too young to remember Wouter's 7 second untied after his big unhoard back in 2003, :kappa: Watch this run and check out his ending once, might be the most nerveracking 30 seconds in GE history.

Graham Morris's Cav 00A 1:48 - a 12 sec untied at the time - must've been pretty sick when set. It did not last long however. And it kinda falls under the same category as Aztec 1:26.
Wouter's Jungle 00A 58 - 4 sec cut, remained untied for years. I remember this in particular from Derek's GE WR pages.
2:06 is insane but maybe not that impressive if you compare it to the other UWRs already mentioned.
Illu's 54 comes to mind - it's a little sad it's overshadowed by Ace's 53. Then of course we have Train 101/100 two of the most hyped WRs ever. Boss's Cav 1:38 was insane too (4 sec untied, non-JAP).
-

Except no one here believed Lucid was real, so it was pretty lame. I'm the only one who had faith.
Silo SA 1:10 was insane when set, and done in February 2007; a month where Ace and I got 14 untieds total.
I also remember being shocked by Illu's Dam 117 and Jungle 54 in ways no other untieds shocked me. Boss' Runway SA 22 was pretty wild. Bunker 2 44 was pretty irrel to me. Marc never "shocked" me either.
-
Dan Cervone - Air Base 1:14
ps: After thinking about it for a while I've decided that Illu getting Defection 0:05 was the most shocking / impressive untied for me. A good argument could be made that this is the most degenerate time EVER achieved in both games. I remember meeting up with Hugo in Amsterdam and being totally shocked when he told me about it, (I was also out of contact with the-elite and wasn't really up to date with what ppl were grinding at the time), so yeah this was a big one and took a while to sink in.

2002: Dam Agent 0:53 (after only 4 54 completes, might be my biggest fluke ever)
2003: Bunker 1 Agent 0:17 (PAL, no pause trick, early pause, lasted years, nuff said), Jungle 00 Agent 0:58 (4s untied, still a decent time by today's standards)
2004: Runway Agent 0:22 (4 boosts in a row with guard boost on agent is wtf), Silo Secret Agent 1:12 (still holding up in the modern era, so far ahead of its time, 3s untied), Bunker 2 Agent 0:24 (possibly my luckiest run ever given the strat that was used)
2005: Frigate Agent 0:23 (props for grinding it out, PAL 1.1 too)
2006: Dam Secret Agent 1:17 (still the best made vid ever)
2007: Facility Agent 0:45 (really nice run and good decimal with outdated strat), Train Agent 1:01 (I think only Henrik even had under 1:05 when this was done..), Jungle Secret Agent 0:54 (pretty wild time, 2s untied)
2008: Statue 00 Agent 2:18 (probably my biggest grind for any untied, stood for many years), Jungle Secret Agent 0:53 (even PAL players are impressed so just rolling with that), Aztec Secret Agent 1:36/00 Agent 1:40 (both were pretty memorable at the time)
2009: Runway 00 Agent 0:35 (legend of Cliff Hampton), Silo Secret Agent 1:09 (as much as goose hypes this time to this day, it was impressive for back then), Aztec Agent 1:30 (out of nowhere the Stryker gets his first untied)
2010: Bunker 2 Secret Agent 0:44 (always will be a fave of mine), Train Agent 1:00 (one of the most impressive NTSC time ever achieved), Aztec Agent 1:26 (4s untied on agent has to have a mention)
2011-current: almost any untied in the modern era gets plenty of hype. I would be listing so many of them honestly.

Hate to be that guy, but Graham's record was actually an 11 second untied. I remember him getting 1:59 old strat before getting 1:48.

The second best player (Wouter) had 2:00 at the time, so 1:48 was a 12s untied. Just like Marc's Train 1:23 was 2s untied until recently even though he didn't skip 1:24. You are talking about the time cut.
-
Yeah, a 11 sec cut but a 12 sec untied. Still pretty sick when you think about it; I mean this wasn't in 1999 but in late 2003. 1:48 was achieved after times such as Dam 53 and B1 17.
