So what are everyone's post-AGDQ plans?
I was never fond of those "new year goal setting" kind of things (because no one ever accomplishes even 5% of what they said they would do). But AGDQ2015 does serve as an inspiration. It gives a shine to the eyes of simple basement kids with a videogame in hands, the biggest evidence that they can do amazing things even though they've got a hobby far away from the current socially conditioned lifestyle (get an irreldiploma, get a job, etc). I only watched a few of the event and read twitter, I'm sure that for people who were there this feeling may be a thousand times stronger.
So, you know, with this AGDQ hype I'm sure lots of people had their epiphanies and motivation spikes to do some crazy shit this year. Let us get as close to it as possible, as fast as we can, not letting this hype end. Something to push ourselves forward, and, to look back to if we ever get out of our ways. Yes, this is super cheesy, and maybe a lot of us indeed will accomplish little to none of the things we've planned, but this thread is an attempt of not letting that happen (totally playing god here hue). Dream big and work hard.
What are your goals for this year? Goldeneye, non-goldeneye, whatever.
-
This year I will work out really hard. I will gain heaps of muscle mass and lean up with an epic body and 6 pack.
I will create youtube tutorial videos on my different skills and create another youtube channel which will deal with increasing confidence.
I will get back into form with guitar, piano, juggling and dancing. Atm I'm stretching a lot every day to get more flexible.
I will get into tricking/tumbling and achieve a long time goal of doing a backflip. If I get pretty flexible relatively quick I may start some form of martial arts again.
I may play some GE later and go for another untied or clean up some crappy OOA times.

The main one:
Go to AGDQ 2016
Preferably running a game there, but I don't care if I'm broke or if this/those game/s don't get in or if [insert anything besides me in a hospital bed for a serious disease]. Life is too fucking short for me not to participate on the biggest speedrunning week of the year. I'm fucking going.
On the big picture, there are 2 parts for it - getting money and *some* relevance:
- Play Poker every day (preferably average 3000+ hands a day, which is 5+ hours)
- Stream 4 or 5 days a week (or more)
On the poker thing I won't get in much detail, but I pretend to get good at SM64, using as less scrub strats as possible, to get a relatively decent time in 70 and 120 (currently clueless on numbers).
Then go to goldeneye and grind the relevant levels (like fac and silo agent), maybe going for Runway SA 22 and Depot 25 as world records, but I want to improve my OCB over anything else (=luck levels, strafing levels, long grind WRs/PRs).
Probably after that (although I don't have the GE goal quantified) I'm gonna work on a few games to offer to AGDQ (which, due to reasons, will be a relatively easy ride). And then, who knows, I might go full 120 star, or do the big point grind in goldeneye...
My "side" goals are:
- Health and fitness (working out consistently and minimizing junk food... nothing too time consuming, but still high intensity)
- (it also includes improving my mental health, becoming more focused, in the zone, using my emotions in my favor, etc... regular meditation is the gist of it)
- Get a girlfriend, or a few of those :kappa: (I've been owing to myself to get back in the game for way too much of a while now... let's see if I can align the full pimping weekends with my other shit)
I have many other great ideas for this year, but all in all they're connected, in one way or other, to becoming a sick poker player and videogame player (while not drowning into stinky slob status).
I'm sick of "motivation", it's mostly an excuse for people who can't stick to a goal to the bitter end. My main personal transformation for this year is to literally shut the fuck up and work harder. Use my motivation when I'm pumped, manufacture it when I "don't feel like" doing stuff. Annnnndddddd....... I think that summarizes it for now :p

-
Learn from previous mistakes
Keep doing new things
Improving myself and helping those around me more.
Those are some general guide lines will be following.
-
Elite:
- Fight like hell to hold onto top 10.
- Get a good WR like Bunker 1 0:21
- Continue to serve as a link to the past (no pun intended) and new generation of players
- Promote our brand on twitch as much as possible
Life:
- Hopefully by next year I'll be a bit more advanced at the company I'm with now. 8.5 years with them, still kind of a bottom feeder but I'm comfortable.
- Married by the start of 2016 using my savings to clear out Rachel's student debt. We'll both be debt free before we're 30.
- Maybe adopt a dog(!)
- Visit as many MLB ballparks as possible and within reason.
- Cut about 20 lbs when it warms up and finally give up name brand soda.
I mainly want a job that pays fairly well again, but not using my bachelor degree (business). I hated the fake corporate atmosphere, but i need to put in mega hours to pull in good paychecks where I'm at now. I used to be a big time bodybuilder in 2010, but I doubt I'll regain that form ever again due to just not having the passion for it. I still have good sized cannons though.
-
surprised about you and baseball jimbo tho I'm guessing due to cost it's just gonna end up being at most Mil/Min/Chix2 and maybe Det. (well you can always get in Was or Bal during VA... or colo during sgdq)
hit weathertenko in MK64 is something I'd like to do this year but we'll see. Pretty much like everyone else with the rest improve various aspects of life, ???, profit.
-
- Have an 'A' complete on Frigate
Sick pace already on 2015 goals m8 :pimp:

Very cool on both of those Jimbo. Trust me, it's nice :)
-
life
- work harder at my job
- read books that will educate me (& maybe write/journal)
- put more effort into getting a girlfriend
- drink less
- become a better, more likable person in general, I was pretty careless in 2014 and that has gotten me an unstable (mostly low) self-esteem. I know I'm capable of being much stronger than I am now.
- hang out in mumble
- set goals
speedrunning
- whatever feels right
- never again change my rankings color :p
Cheers to 2015!
-
Seems like a few guys here want to put effort into getting a girlfriend. If you guys are actually serious I am here to help. I will offer to do some FREE skype coaching (30 minute sessions) to help you move towards your goal.

My Elite related goal is to get a WR, once my exams are over and I have more time to play. I will definitely celebrate it by doing the Goldeneye Dam jump, the location is only 3 hours from my house.
In life, just finish my study shit, keep my relationship strong (already 7 years deep), work out and eat more and get more bookings. Getting my own place was a goal, but I just reached that yesterday lol.

Oh, so "Basler" means that you are actually from the Basel area? Zürich here! That calls for an elite swiss meet :D
On topic: Stay alive. Stay true.
-
Ah nice, dude. Yeah for sure, I live in Basel. We should definitely meet up on a weekend, I'm in Zürich semi regularly anyways because I have friends studying at ETH.
I thought you were Austrian when I watched your Cradle tutorial lol.

swiss meet hype!

True, but I've been living here for 3-4 months since I started working at ETH ...

insane goals here I see, not sure how I'll be able to keep up, not a bad idea to aim high though I guess
-
- Maintain a good GPA in university. Last semester I managed to get 3.74 which I am extremely proud of given the effort I put in. About as much as Train 1:23, except for 4 months. It is getting increasingly tough and demanding, but at the same time fun. I have learnt so much the past year and I hope I can continue learning useful things related to my career this year as well.
- Have a quality stream in the summer of 2015. In summer the previous year I was lazy and wasted an opportunity but I hope to change things this year. I might do a few donation streams for AGDQ2016. It's a ridiculous amount ($1500 for ticket, $200ish for visa, probably $500 more for the hotel, etc).
- Possibly apply for a US visa this year. If I do get it and managed to get enough money for AGDQ next year, I'll definitely go. This will prompt Clemens to go, generating hype for an amazing 100% race one year from now. Everyone knows they want to see it.
- Possibly make a few decent mobile apps. I wanted to learn a lot more during my vacations earlier but it's extremely time-demanding and needs a lot of concentration. I need to learn this over months. Might not happen this year as well.
- Buy more Nike shoes. Air Max 2015 is amazing. :nesquik:
- Improve my 100% time and get Train Agent 0:58. I'm hoping both of these happen but even one would be good. 100% would be fun to do over summer. If I get into great shape I might for Silo 0:59 as well, but only if it's available as an untied then (probably not).
- Spam the word mate more frequently.
The main ones here are just maintaining a decent GPA and probably trying to go to AGDQ2016. AGDQ2015 seemed amazing from what I've seen/heard and 2016 would be even better. It would just suck not going, knowing I have been in this community for 10 years and still haven't met anyone because of shitty geographical factors.
-
- Visit a country I've never been to
- Meet another eliter
- Attend the upcoming Swedish meet
- Watch more films
- Read more books
- Get in better shape; already pretty decent, but I'm nowhere as good as I was couple of years ago
- Maybe dust off the N64 and get some PRs
-
my biggest fear is Goldeneye and Perfect Dark getting rejected at AGDQ 2016 making Ace's plan to attend fruitless
this is why I suggest NO ONE offer GE for SGDQ. I'll pay off Uyama if I have to.
-
I don't think anyone really plans to attend sgdq besides maybe me, and I don't plan on doing any runs this sgdq if I go
-
GE will 100% be accepted At 2016
200% if the #1 player runs / races
-
I plan on submitting a minesweeper beginner run.
Need ppl to commentate on couch
