With the resignation of Tyler from the position GE proof mod we will now need to elect someone new to replace him.
Before making any decisions we would like to ensure everyone has an opportunity to officially apply for the role if they are interested. Please post here if you would like to be considered.
Alternatively feel free to post any ideas/questions/concerns regarding the role, or simpy show your support of a candidate.
Duties of proof moderator include but is not limited to:
-Collate all 60+ point times from the previous month into a monthly proof call topic.
-Locating/checking videos for all relevant times.
-Backrolling times that have not met requirements as per the proof policy.
CURRENT APPLICANTS:
Jonathan Hotinski (DSX)
Alec McDonald (Trouble)
Austin Perroux (Austinthegamer)

I'd be interested in becoming a proof moderator
-
Would the proof moderator be in some way held responsible if he accepted a video that is later demonstrated to be a fake?
Or, asking the same thing a different way, is it part of the proof moderator's job to analyze videos to be more sure they are real?
-
Well the moderator must obviously watch each and every video submitted to ensure it meets quality requirements as per the proof policy. However it should not be a requirement to 'study' each video really. Just watching it and if nothing jumps out as obviously fake/questionable it would be accepted by the mod.
Historically, faked videos have been found later from further analysis by players and the mod has never been held responsible/accountable for letting the video get through. The proof moderator should basically ensure 1. there is a video, 2. it matches the time claimed, 3. meets quality requirements, 4. does not appear fake.
Anything questionable should be presented to top players to analyze further. But can you imagine the time taken to analyze every single video?
-
Furthermore, the new proof moderator who does a consistently good job will almost certainly be included in all council topics as well as council participation, am I wrong?
-
I would be interested in applying to be a proof moderator.
-
I would presume so but that is currently being discussed by the council and there has been no concrete decision made on the structure of the council moving forward.
-
The Proof Moderator should ALWAYS have access to remove or add times directly to and from the rankings. Adding an additional layer of having to email Thingy or someone else to remove a time is definitely not healthy for the community.
The Proof Moderator should also AT LEAST be an observing member of the Council.
I hope most would agree with me on both points?

The proof moderator inherently has the power to backroll times etc. As one of the duties I listed on the OP was 'Backrolling times that have not met requirements as per the proof policy'.
The main void that is left by Tyler leaving is the lack of someone doing the monthly proof calls and gathering all of the times that need proof. This is a fair bit of work. I don't think being a member of the council is a given, however it's probably a good idea to give them that access in exchange for their services. As mentioned previously this is being discussed.
