give a huge thanks and lols to the mets for backing out because he cost too much despite the fact gomez is on a very cheap contract relative to his performance

(yes the mets owners are dead broke from bernie madoff)  The Mets had to ask the A's to kick in salary earlier this week.  (note for jimbo--the A's are notorious for penny pinching because they are a very small market.  The Mets are one of the largest--there is no salary cap in baseball)

Also are you sure austin is an astros fan and not a rangers fan?  Austin's much closer to the Rangers in Dallas than Houston.

Brewers got Houston's #1 prospect and I think 8 and 10 as well (varies depending on whichever list you find) .  Pretty good deal for the brewers for 1.5 years of gomez's contract.

The guy we traded Davies has never been in the majors I think and wasn't even in discussion to move up so gl with that
