This thread will serve as a place to suggest ideas that would make great Youtube videos or features, and for me to organize my thoughts into a more cohesive manner which will aid in their creation.

This format is actually pretty easy to crank out. You don't even have to nail the true "top 5," as you can just make another video later. Just need to write 2-10 sentences for a little story on each item on your list, narrate, and put video or pictures overtop.
I could see Youtube comments getting super salty like "wow you know way too much about this game" but tbh a series like these + doing lore would be an incredible lucrative Youtube venture. I could see these all getting from 20k-300k or more views depending on quality, interest, getting picked up by other media outlets, etc.
A very simple even sub series could be something like;
Top 5 Ace WRs
Top 5 Marc WRs
Top 5 Boss WRs, etc
Could easily expand this to other games as well, and maybe get picked up or a licensing deal with the original Top5s legend himself.
Keep the ideas coming.

"TOP 5 retirement fails" would be something very Elite-ish, same goes for "TOP 5 most obscure happenings"

TOP 5 most Revolutionary Untied WRs (susprised this hasn't been said before, talking about the biggest cuts in time, times that were long thought to be not possible etc)
TOP 5 Nerd Rages
TOP 5 gamebreaking glitches
I believe you have to make these videos for people OUTSIDE of the community. Keep it very simple

I think you need to make them for people IN the community actually, to keep the content interesting and non-watered down. "top 5 best WRs!" is just too cuck and troll. You need more interesting content.
But you need to make them easy enough to understand by people outside of the community.
I think the Top 5 Degen Instances will be a perfect example of this.

People from outside the community will be more drawn in if they are Elite-centric even to the point of niche- as long as you offer them enough clues to follow along the stories. There is such a rich history to delve into and a lot of it is relatable for anyone in their own gaming community or non-gaming community.
Top 5 Best WRs is arguably too broad and bland.. the more specialised / unique suggestions here would make for better videos. Stuff like Top 5 most stunning instances of degeneracy, Top 5 Strat discoveries or Top 5 most cuck guards in GE would be awesome starting points I m o.

People loved the Frigate SA lore because it took them on a journey they'd never been on before, filled with a lot of drama and humour, but also a clear goal - to get the fastest time on Frigate Secret Agent. If the Top 5s can tap into that, they can't not be a success.

Top 5 revolutionary strategies would be pretty cool to people from outside the community (whom I think those videos should be more targeted to, imo) but it would be relevant to all of us, really. Speaking for myself, I'd like to watch some deep info on Aztec glass strat or runway no tank strat, and I'm pretty sure others would like that too.
PD has even more crazy shit like that, like Defection glitch all around, Invest laser skip, Deep Sea PAL, Rescue guard opening door strat, etc.
And yes the Frigate one was awesome tbh. Need more of those absolutely.

It might take a while for me to make this one because I have Depot Lore, then a vid with Cheese to make, but ideally within the next 2-3 weeks I can start working on this one.
The video will actually also give a lot of insight on all the levels; how hard the records are, why they were meaningful to Lockwood/any player, things that can wrong or right, etc. So it'll be both a level explanation + Lockwood reaction vid. I'm really keen for this one.

Goose, why not use the very video you've linked? It's a top tier SERIES of Lockwood reactions. Instead of talking about a PR per se, you can talk about the pressure of a good RTA run in a marathon setting. Then unleash the horde of Lockwood reactions there lol

I think 112 should be in the vid at #1. The people want it. Its the best overall choice as far as views, marketing, etc.

anyways, here are the pros and cons of including Lockwood's Streets 112 in the Top 5 video:
PROS: huge buildup, people get to relive the excitement, confirmation bias "omg I bet 112 will be #1 lol I'm so smart!"
CONS: everyone who will be watching my video has already seen it, copyright issues with the Sunshine OST
I plan on addressing the Streets 112 early, like the opening intro will be something like;
"Ryan Lockwood is a long time Goldeneye speedrunner and just great all round gamer, accomplishing x y z, but is most well known for his reaction to achieving Streets 112. We've all seen the video... if you HAVEN'T, you should pause right now and click here (on this annotation.) But Lockwood has had many many more reactions that were great too. Here are the TOP 5 RYAN LOCKWOOD REACTIONS that aren't Streets 112."

for selfish reasons I like Ryan's suggestion because it means adding 1 more Lockwood reaction to the video.. but I think the more "complete" video would just have 1:12 as number 1 and get on with it. everyone and their stepmom have seen the 112 vid multiple times, granted, but this assumption is actually the only thing I would be careful with especially in the future when new runners / gamers might watch the vid without ever having seen the 112.
by having 112 as #1 it would also help strengthen the idea of the list as being an order from most tame to most epic, and while watching people will be hype about getting to the 112 and seeing what you have to say about it.
I think there's a bit you could actually say about 112 and the reaction to it / why it is / was so special that would make including if worthwhile for a lot of people. Most people probably don't know much about the circumstances of the run etc. cheers

Luke's post, and Karl's PMs with me earlier have me leaning towards including the 1:12.
The thing is, I'd want to really delve into the 1:12 if I do include it. Talk about the community effort (Clark realizing the viral potential, Flicker mining the broadcast to consolidate the reaction, me selecting the music and transcribing the text, then Trent putting it together and uploading it;,) while also talking about why Lockwood said certain things (clarifying who he was talking to, talking about what he meant by "the double," etc.)
So that leads me to the problem of my #1s in this video and the Top 5 Degen being so long and intricate that they might as well have their own video.
I really don't know how I feel about splitting up the "top 5" into two videos, one counting down from 5-2, then another video showcasing #1. It's doable, but I really don't know how it'd go over.

Oh, maybe it's because I didn't see your other edited vids like that, but I really liked what you did with each WR "intro" combined with the narration, it looked slick. Also loved the pace and the way the narration fit with the visual. As much as I like your Goldeneye Lore series, this one felt fresh and "pro" in term of editing, I like both style tho. Keep going man, I really enjoy your stuff lately and I feel like I'm not alone!

Yeah good job Goose, I agree that this last one "flow" was better in general, and lots of interesting info put into it (such as Ace's snaps, that kinda of out of the 'gaming scope' thing, more personal/human whatever). Really nice.

The video I'm currently working on has a section on Archives' "ghost door," or the one that is sometimes open before Mishkin. It's the 2nd door before his room. The only vids I have atm are my original Archives SA 55, and Koch's "ghost door" vid, but I know for a fact there are more out there. I just can't find them.
I've asked in Discord, but sometimes the forum is better for this stuff, so if anyone has or knows of any ghost door footage, please link!!

I truly didn't know about that. It'd have changed the whole storytelling of the #1 item too, since that happened 5 years before the Swiss clip.
I usually talk about which video I'm working on for a week or two in advance in Discord, and on the forum. So if you ever have a video or item you think I should include, don't hesitate to let me know!

The general response I got today was that a lot of people liked the Cradle "mystery" the most of them all! Crazy video. I did notice there is a 1 frame shake right as Trev takes the damage, so it almost certainly was a grenade, but still, the way a grenade got dropped on Trev without falling off the rails is truly shocking and unexplained.

Concerning these OOB, I think it's interesting that you state the fact that some people who have been playing the game for 20 years never experienced anything like this, and relatively new players do. I would actually think that the longer you play the game, the LESS chance you have of ever experiencing something out of the ordinary. This could be because you keep on doing the same thing over and over again, never doubting your own conviction that what you're doing is already the best way to do it. Doesn't it make total sense that people with a relatively fresh look at the game are the ones to break the "rules"? The depot warp surely could be a perfect example of that. New people will do things differently, which is why it is so important that new people keep on joining.
Like you said in the video, it is actually insane to think that no one has ever found a gamebreaking glitch while GE at the time was such a (technically) groundbreaking game AND has never received any patches or updates. Crazy stuff! Also, enjoyed the vid <3

I don't recall Clemens ever getting 128 on webcam, he got it on stream didn't he?

Clemens got a PD untied WR in January 2013 that was on webcam. I believe it was on Extraction. This was after the 2012 proof policy, barring webcam, but was kept on the rankings anyways, because there was no real PD mod at the time.

only thing with the dubious / questionable videos thing is be careful not to beat 155/116 to death, could get boring
I'd be more keen to see a top 5 eliters who mysteriously disappeared, there's loads of choice here and you could have fun telling the stories of these eliters - GE/PD probably, gives good fresh content and outlook

Top 5 (6) players to have untied sweeps in the modern Goldeneye era
I kind of want to do this one next/after Lockwood vid. Discuss the value of untieds, demonstrate how hard they are (Wodahs, Luke only have 1 & 2 career untieds,) then talk about the 6 players in Goldeneye to have gotten untieds in the "modern" era (2004 onwards.)

then end with Clemens' modern era Aztec, maybe the most remarkable feat in GE history
Perhaps I'd make this after the 3 part Aztec lore in June/July so some people have heard the stories of Illu & Clem on Aztec, but want to hear more about sweeps.
I'd mark this one down as a *for sure will make* sometime this year.

Yeah I think I need to start doing PD episodes...maybe I'll give it to the end of the year, but there are some really good stories there too.

I think you have plenty of GE topics to go off of for the rest of the year, the "and now.......Perfect Dark" lore could be a whole different substructure of people, so unveiling it xmas or new year's would be cooked.

Yeah I was thinking the Baron door warp probably saves more than .3, but I didn't know how much so I just made something up. It wouldn't have been hard for me to compare videos in the video editor but sometimes you have to take liberties.
The Archives open door stuff I could have talked about, (Ace even reminded me before I finished the vid) but it's kinda inconsistent and not fully understood. Plus it's fun to leave some "discoveries" to the viewers who might start watching some speedruns and see some of it firsthand.

You sometimes mention when somebody outside of the top tier has a great run, but I'm sure in GE's history there must be a lot of instances where somebody almost irrelevant (at the time) makes a great impact. From watching some of your lore videos it sounds like Bryan Bosshardt's Aztec strategy and Squrpion's non-TAS door clip would be good contenders for this, although I think the latter may be a bit overused already.
Keep up the great work with these, your videos are certainly making an impact.

I was considering this. I even had tabs open to do a Lore: ADDENDUM on Marc's Silo 107, and had thought about doing this for the Frigate 59/58. But with Frigate I didn't know what a hit SpeedLore would become, and with Silo I just couldn't bear to do a video about Marc getting 107.
I could definitely make one right now about Karl getting Crash Site 114, and talk about the next LSU (Chuya's 206.) The content just feels too "easy" compared to the work I put into other videos, which makes it feel like cheap/like cheating your way through Youtube. But it's probably the correct formula for success.
Perhaps next year I will make a video for every new untied in the elite. They are noteworthy enough at this point to deserve them.

Maybe Clemens tying my Aztec Agent 1:30 which was my first untied? (I don't know if simply tying something counts as speedbullying)
The story is that Aztec was the first level i ever speedrunned seriously back when i was a noob. It took me months to go from 1:37 to 1:30. Especially from 1:34 to 1:32 (skipped 133) took so long. Like 100 hours or more. Then Clemens fucks me in the ass by tying my precious 1:30 1-2 days later, a time i was so proud about, to show who was the GE alpha male at the time.

How realistic is Statue 00A 2:17? Would it be on there? Bunker 2 SA 0:43 with new strats? It feels weird to put Surface 2 00 Agent 1:23 there... maybe a similar "spin off" idea would be "levels that could see untieds if people just started using strategies that have been known about for ages...."

I like to think of it slightly differently. Instead of just overdue times (times we generally think should have already been achieved), think of it as two separate (and sometimes overlapping) categories.
Category 1: Close calls/almost untieds
Category 2: Unoptimized (Levels that are unoptimized relative to the rest of the game and the untied in question has not been pursued heavily)
Category 1 (Close calls) are any time that has almost happened but is just out of reach. They can be and often are times that are FUCKED hard such as train 56 or silo 59, but they still almost happened many times. It doesn't make them "overdue" in the traditional theoretical sense, since these times are already leagues above the typical standard of skill needed for an average untied today. Crazy people grind way beyond diminishing returns to will an insane time into being. Sometimes achieving them as much as 5 years earlier than they should have. Think of marc's dam 116/155 or clemens b2 44 as these. These kind of times were way ahead of their time, so its almost the opposite of overdue at least in the historical sense.
Recent close call examples:
-Caverns 1:12
-Bunker 2 0:53
-Frigate 0:22
-Silo 0:59
-Facility 0:51
-Train 0:56
-Probably S2 123 by now
Category 2 (Unoptimized) is shit like runway 31-28, depot 46, s2 sa 47, 46 especially after the new trick, egypt 44. Those times never required world beating performances but were just beating unoptimized WRs that were due for improving. They were overdue in the literal sense since they "should have happened" way earlier. Few to no people even tried for them, but once someone did the time was achieved very fast.
Improving unoptimized level examples:
-Egypt 44 sweep? Not sure how much harder it will be on SA/00 but it's definitely harder.
-Surface 1 00a 1:47? I mean SA happened two years ago and it is more troll on 00 but not so much that it should takes many years for 00 127.
-Jungle 00a 0:53? Same reasoning as S1 00a
-Maybe Frigate 00a 104? People have had 6 years to get a sub 105 hostage complete but idk its still a stretch considering the rarity of completion.
-Statue 217 doesnt seem easy enough to put here although I could be mistaken about it.
-Silo 00A 120? Again not sure on this. Its massively underplayed so its hard to say.
Obviously untieds of unoptimized records can also be close calls as well.
So yeah maybe consider making a top 5 close calls video or something. I think it's more compelling of a story to tell what has almost happened than times that mostly nobody plays for but should have by now.
