Title: [Serious] Anyone interested in becoming a millionaire?
Post by: DYM on February 24, 2017, 09:29:31 am
All you need to do is make something that's better than this garbage speedrunners have had to deal with for the past 5 years:

This is a joke. I could have lost a Frigate SA 0:59 to this random error message. Imagine the irritation I'd have felt.

Easy solutions:

1. Get a larger hard drive
2. Restart recordings and delete old ones in half hour increments.

Ez $$$$$$$$$

Did you not want it to tell you when you ran out of storage?
I'm sure Amarec has its shortcomings but this example is a feature

Dude, are you actually thick? If it was my hard-drive having no space I would have just deleted a few previous recordings and re-recorded, something I've been doing for 2-3 years. But this is new problem where AmaRec, known to be a shit software, randomly hangs while I stream. The amount of stupidity in this thread confounds me.

I would, if half of the Elite didn't have a problem with "goose commentating" going on in the background. :nesquik:

Just took a look at the OBS Studio roadmap site and this was added recently:

"Add the Ability for OBS to Natively Record Individual Sources"

Might not be a priority for the OBS team, but it's on the way probably. If you don't care about natively recording with H.264 (although they could probably add support for other codecs in the future), this should make Amarec unnecessary for many. OBS Studio has more or less the same options as Amarec, and some are even better. Amarec is a piece of shit. The latest issue I've had with it is that it mixes up audio sources. I've had to set it to use my webcam's microphone to get sound from my USB mixer...

Yesterday I finally figured out how to keep desktop audio, webcam, Amarec video source and microphone in sync indefinitely. Video game audio would always drag behind, but I think I've found a fix. The sources are now synced down to the frame basically, which is pretty cool, but I still hate Amarec. Unfortunately, it's the only software except OBS that allows my capture card for some reason. If OBS would support usage of lossless codecs when recording sources, I would ditch Amarec instantly. OBS already supports fractional fps values, so recording at the correct framerate (N64 seems to run at roughly 59.8261Hz) won't be an issue. Composite or s-video has to be recorded at 29.97 though. OBS has better pretty much the same deinterlacing options as amarec (+yadif, which is pretty nice to have), and it will support custom filters in the future most likely. They're also working on supporting ASIO audio devices, which is really nice too.

We must replace and repeal AmaRec! Very disastrous!
