i don't think you're being treated unfairly tbh. you achieve the best runs in this embarrassing quality (worse than your 2007 vids), even though goose had sent you your incentive for dam 116 which was more than enough for a cap card. rather than ordering a cap card asap so you can correct this issue, you claim it's a waste of good vimto money / you are too lazy to make the 3 clicks to order a cap card and disrespect all of us and our ranks by continuing to play as is. you then act like you shouldn't be held to the same proof requirement as everyone else, but you are held to the same requirements, and for that you feel you're being treated unfairly? i get that you ordered the damn capture card finally (months later) and that it just hasn't arrived yet, but your attitude about this is fucking toxic. you should not be entitled to submit these garbage videos just because you are the best player. if this was 2014 you would agree that the garbage crop/framerate should not be allowed on significant records i'm sure.

what happened to actually giving a shit and being the outlier among top players when it came to vid quality? you've become the worst offender and it seems you don't even realize. you used to pick on marc and clemens about how degenerate it is to put so much time into your runs and not care when the vids you produce look like garbage.

regarding the council, it seems fair to me that you were booted as you were trying to fight against the healthy progress we've all been longing for for years. if this were 2014, i think your opinion on these issues would be wildly different. these days all you "add" to the community is drama and shitposts, and the occasional race that you rarely participate in yourself. it's a damn shame. you know i consider you a friend but i have to say, your shitposting really makes this place a drag.

idk if it's stress from uni or something else, but i hope you find it in yourself to be who you were before all this crap started.

- taking issue with random shit at every fucking opportunity (you seem to FEED on drama), constantly making garbage threads, constantly spamming random topics

- deceit, dishonesty, etc.

- shitting up the ranks!!!

It's making the forums not a very fun place to browse and overall just detracts from the quality of the community. It's okay to disagree with other eliters (I disagree with grav on probably every issue known to mankind) but its not okay to call others idiots or anything else for their views. Dsx and swiss have both hit the other issues on point but this is one I felt like sharing. You're a good mate ace and we're just trying to keep the community healthy

Set up a fucking punching bag and tape my face to it if that's what it takes. When you see a post you don't like, maybe try addressing it in a calm and collected manner instead of making that an opportunity to passive aggressively shame them using the latest meme thread or a thread from 2005. If you cant be 100% certain that it is in good fun both for you and for the person you are posting about, don't do it. I wouldn't trust your ability to even gauge that right now considering you thought swiss was just joking with you before he made the OP post... so maybe you should take some serious time off from posting about other people in general.

Look, trying to steer the behavior of someone else is not a strong suit of mine or anyone else here really. I am going to do my part and just stop responding even if you shit on me because it's not worth my time. You are smart enough to understand what you are doing and old enough to take responsibility for your actions. Take some advice from my man jordan peterson and /sort yourself out/. It will benefit you more than anyone else.

Proof yes, acceptable proof for the times achieved = arguable / no. We make efforts to improve the proof policy in all ways. Most ways are because Ace has somehow found ways to still make things unacceptable. :thinking: :v

People are then free to use my videos without my permission for any purpose they like (as long as the Elite is alright with it, but I do not believe they (will) care enough in most cases), which I believe is morally wrong. Perhaps joint-ownership is something I could converge on. For example, a clause stating that once the videos are up on the rankings and proven to be legitimate, they must stay - but otherwise all rights to the videos belong to the player.

It's always been this way. Just because you realise that money can be made from it now isn't our fault or the policy's fault. Do something to make your own content worthwhile.

That would start with you understanding how proof and PROPER proof works. If youc an't grasp that or follow it then what's the point in even trying to argue for your "creative rights" of your times? None of this makes sense.

How is this a contradiction? What I'm suggesting is, the council has power to do whatever they want with a time once its instated (so for example, if it's found to be completely legitimate and later the individual goes rogue and removes the time, the moderators can put it back up and punish the individual accordingly) but if anyone would like to use the player's video for whatever purpose, they need to ask for permission. So it becomes "joint" property. It does not have to be exactly like that, but certain rights should belong to the players.

I have not once talked about monetization in my post, so I am not sure what you are jumping to here. All I am asking is that certain rights be given to individuals such as permission be required to use people's videos.

Uploading the footage of playing a videogame is technically a copyright infringement, as you are using intellectual property/trademarks/soundtracks/characters/etc from which the rights are not yours. afaik nobody ever received authorization from Rare/Nintendo to use their IP. So Technically, it is an infringement.

Remember Nintendo taking down all these Lets play / speedruns on youtube some time ago? They were in their full right to do so. Companies will usually turn a blind eye towards it because of excellent free promotion. Luckily Nintendo eventually changed their views on videos containing their IP, but that doesn't change anything about it being infringement.

So yes, you did "steal the car". And no, you have no rights over the things displayed in the video. You guys speak of "legal ownership" like fucking n00bs.

I really don't understand why you say that I'm being dumb. Probably just trolling. You upload gameplay to a game and it's technically infringement, other people can just use your video without your consent. The only thing that happens is they participate in the same infringement (again, which companies turn a blind eye towards, but that doesn't change shit about your rights).

When you take someone's gameplay from a big streamer for example, these people usually have a permission to use copyrighted material from the creators and therefore they do own rights on their video.

There is literally nothing you can do about someone doing stuff with your GE/PD vids. It's lulzy that The Elite claims to have rights over your runs, but they have as much rights over the gameplay as you have. Which is none unfortunately.

Somewhere around February or March 2016, Derek cancelled the old web hosting account before moving everything to the new server. We were hosting the homepage and various files from the old one, and the forums/rankings from the new one. So that stuff basically all just disappeared overnight. No one has taken the initiative to set up a new homepage. On request, I set http://the-elite.net to redirect to the rankings rather than a blank page.

Derek did have a backup of most of the files from the old homepage, but wanted a new WordPress install, which I had already installed for him on the new server on 11 December 2015. He explained that if I installed WordPress for him, he would restore the old content and style it. It's still there, but has not been styled or posted to. He recently sent some more messages asking about this or publishing on an alternative platform, but still hasn't logged in to that WordPress install on the-elite.net.

If someone does want to take the lead on setting up either a basic homepage or the blog (WordPress or otherwise), let me know and I can give you the tools/assistance/resources you need to do it. I doubt Derek would object.

At least for me and specially for mobile version.

I'd go for a separate blog page with a link in homepage (which is rankings feed now), and that would be updated with not so regular stuff, and maybe add a "hey, there's a new post in the blog, go check it out" somewhere (and why not twitter and whatever so more people could read it).

Completely agreed! Also, it seems like I was one of the few people who used it to navigate to rankings/forum etc.
