Title: *** The Elite GE/PD Fantasy League 2018 *** (Rules updated as of June 8th)

Well it's that time of year again and Grav has spearheaded a new set of rules that bring the fantasy league in line with real sports.

1. There is now a regular season and a postseason.

- The regular season will last 17 weeks (119 days) starting after tomorrow's draft
- The postseason (playoffs) will last 4 weeks. Quarterfinals (1 week), Semis (1 week), Finals (2 Weeks).
- Regular season rankings will determine the postseason seeding.

2. No more unlimited replacing of players on your team.

- You may drop 4 players total maximum on your team
- There is a trading/dropping deadline on Sunday, August 19th
- Your roster will be locked in place from August 19th until the END of the playoffs.
- Trading/dropping players is allowed at anytime before trade deadline.

3. Proven times only.

- The end of the season and the end of each playoff round counts only times that have been proven.
- Times modified by a bonus multiplier will only be multiplied if the time is proven BEFORE the bonus period ends.

4. Untieds are no longer their own tier.

- All untieds will be a 2x multiplier on the tier of the time it is as determined by the community.

5. Daily Doubles and Weekly Incentives for the regular season.

- There are 119 days, so all but one level will have a day where you get double points for playing it.
- Every week, there will be a 50% extra bonus for an announced weekly incentive.
- There is no limit on how many people can get a daily double bonus.
- No bonuses for the playoff rounds. No items, Fox only, final destination!!!
- Multipliers can be stacked (untied 2x bonus, daily double 2x bonus, weekly incentive 1.5x bonus).
- Stacking multipliers will NOT be compounded.
- Postseason will have a special multiplier system that will be weighted both by your final rank and your point margin

6. Forum badge.

- The winners of fantasy league will get a forum badge for their victory.

The league will consist of the usual numbers, 8 teams of 5 players (6 including captain).

We understand that these are big changes and we encourage everyone to discuss concerns or provide feedback. We're just trying something new and we'll see how it goes. Just keep an open mind because these new rules look like fun, and the daily and weekly incentives will keep it interesting for the lengthy time period.

Hoarding is discouraged but anyone can decide to do it so it's not really an unfair advantage.

I’m declaring for the draft  :cool:

(Am willing to play PD as well as GE)

What can I offer the team points wise? I have plenty of easy GE points left to gain as I have played very few levels, Depot, Facility, Archives SA/00, and several common beginner times such as S1 1:04 and Streets 1:14 remain untouched, and since I plan on getting at least one second better on each of those levels, the total point gain is pretty good. I also plan on playin for some easy PD points, with a fully unlocked cart and some basics down, shown in at least my Chicago 16.

Teammate wise, I can offer positive energy and support, giving advice what I can to any newer players like myself or even older players playing levels I have experience on

Personally, I’m a fast learner, excited and driven to improve, and I don’t give up easy

Here's my pitch for picking me up:

- I have large potential for time attainment
- I learn from mistakes and can swiftly correct them when the effort is put in
- Benefits well from coaching/is coachable by anyone
- Still doesn't have S2 A 47, Cradle sweep, Archives 54/55s, S1 A 102, or points at all on Frig SA/00A, Cavs SA/00A, or Aztec

- You know I'm a great choice, especially on night shift rotations when I have no time but to grind GE (or PD  :nesquik: )

It wasn't stated in the rules so I will let everyone know about this really quick.

- Multipliers can be stacked (untied 2x bonus, daily double 2x bonus, weekly incentive 1.5x bonus)
- Stacking multipliers will NOT be compounded

To get what this means, consider the two scenarios:

Compounding multipliers:
Tier 1 Untied with DD/WI = 200 points x 2 x 2 x 1.5 = 1200 points

Non compounding multipliers:
Tier 1 Untied with DD/WI = 200 points + 200 points + 200 points + 100 points = 700 points

It gets a bit too exploitable when they stack lol. So 700 points will be the most you can possibly get with a single time if the stars align for you :nesquik:

Keep in mind also that points will be in much greater supply with all these multipliers so 700 is worth a lot less than 700 in prior years too.

An observation:

During last year's league, Defection SA 19 was considered tier 4.

This year, Defection SA 18 is considered tier 6.

And yet nothing new has been discovered besides my new ending strategy, which only I have successfully done (or even attempted for the most part) and which none of the 18s on the rankings utilize.

I had tossed around the idea with theluge of playing only during fantasy league from now on. Choose me if you don't care about winning. I might play and get a ton of zero-point PRs! Close on dam 53/bunker 1 17, have PD and could possibly PR if I put in serious effort. Work is no longer a serious priority (killed my participation last year since I was temp-hire), so I have lots of time (but I'm learning guitar so interests have shifted in a major way).

And I also picked up a practically new! 10/10 controller!

I have the time, and the lack of distractions (no internet) at home means I can play, but I make no commitments and guarantee nothing.

I'm also not playing any other games. This would be 100% of my gaming focus.

actually i think ill just straight up ban myself from being drafted because i actually know when all the bonuses are already and it would be unfair for me to play knowing that.

i dont plan on playing the game hardly at all anyway im still keen for improving my RTA in blast corps and other shit. so yea, definitely dont draft me i wont even allow it to happen

i should state that bonuses can only apply to times PROVEN before the bonus period ends too, so that obviously you cannot exploit the bonus with the soon to be obsoleted PR post without video. you already can hoard so like there shouldnt be any leeway

With postseason discussion happening, I just wanted to archive two ideas I mentioned in the Discord:

perhaps some incentive available to the higher seeds a la the daily doubles/weekly incentive (during playoffs)

could do "regular season champs" and "post-season champs"

Same as Flechr, here was my idea to incentivize higher seeds and not keep people from necessarily hoarding to unleash in the playoffs: the top 4 seeds going into the playoffs would get bonus points to start the round, as a reward for placing higher in the regular season.

So for the first round, it would be something like:
1 seed: 200 bonus points
2 seed: 150
3 seed: 100
4 seed: 50

This would keep the end of the regular season moving along, as teams jockeyed for position heading into the playoffs.

You could then reseed in the following rounds and attribute bonus points to the highest remaining teams. A fear that was brought up in Discord was that since every team makes the playoffs, the regular season won't seem to matter as much towards the end, and teams will start hoarding to ensure they advance in the playoffs.

Obviously it's find in the NBA that 50% of the teams go fishing during the playoffs, but we still want to encourage activity in both games, and keeping all 8 teams around longer accomplishes that.

Just an idea, great league so far, really well put together Grav and Jono!

i think instead of a hard number of bonus points the top seeds should just get a round long multiplier based on the seed for the duration of the playoffs, but yeah birdie's idea sounds good to me

Yeah I thought about a multiplier as well, I think anything like that will work really well to balance the regular season with the playoffs.

how about the multiplier the teams get in the playoff is proportional to the amount of points they got in regular season, not just their standing? that way if the 1 seed gets a billion points they wont be penalized by having not many times left to play for in the playoffs... since the multiplier would be huge

i suppose that seems good, as long as they dont push to their complete limit and have nothing left for post-season, which is pretty easy to avoid.

also introducing the idea of a "trade deadline" which would mean after a certain date or number of players dropped/picked up your team's roster will be locked in for the playoffs

i support the trade deadline after thinking, i think the playoff rounds should just stay with the same people the whole way through and be the same as the team roster post deadline.

also for the postseason multipliers im thinking of this:

here are two examples using my idea. basically, you get a multiplier bonus just for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. but ALSO a bonus if the margin between 3rd and 4th or 1st and 2nd is massive. this way there is incentive to run up the score in regular season and also it helps reduce the necessity of sandbagging for playoffs. dont get too caught up with the actual values, just the concept. we can fine tune the values before the playoffs start via discussion

NEW RULES
-Drop rules changed to 4 drops total allowed instead of 1 per month
-Trade/drop deadline for the end of the third month (Sunday August 19th)
-Roster will remain the same from the trade deadline until the end of playoffs
-Playoff rounds will have a multiplier for each team based off final ranking and point spreads (exact numbers to be determined)

Cool idea!  Did you already coordinate with Jimbo to set that up for you or did you want help from me?

I usually do some badges for the prior year's Community Awards at the beginning of January, so if this is a yearly type thing I can add it in as a new category when I do that.

Or, if it is not really on a yearly basis, we could do it on a different schedule.

The badges are typically a 16x16 pixel PNG with transparent background.  If it is yearly I've been putting the year in the corner.  If you already have an idea what it should look like you can make your own or just provide a rough idea for me.  And a list of accounts who should get it.
