Title: When you run GoldenEye with music on, what volume do you normally use?
Post by: Irie on June 23, 2019, 06:45:57 pm
I've been running in game music at about 60-65% for the past few months. Imo music cues may be different if you compare 100% to 60%. Could be part of the reason why some runs look faster or slower than they should be on the ranks etc. Just look at my facility 44 for example. During my long facility agent grind I had volume at 100% or so, I knew what the cues were etc, knew the music i needed for a 44 fail or complete. Fast forward a couple months, I return to the level, cake a 44 and thought no chance in hell it was actually 44 pace at the tanks. Not claiming this to be totally real but it needs looking more into. Also not claiming it loses or gains time- just that it messes up the cues you look for which actually helped me on facility to not choke good pace because the music didn't sound insane and spike my nerves.

One of the best-known places that i've personally used in-game music is Cradle. The reason is paying attention to the audio cues for what kind of pace you get and whether or not you kill Trev early than intended.

Yeah cradle is one of the best levels for using music. This is because-
It's consistent, especially determining slow or fast Trev since it's so soon in the level.
The music is amazing.
You can know if you have a chance at nade drop after Trev kill by seeing if the music changes or not.
But Clem and I still found it much easier to clutch without music on. Nothing beats seeing A complete as the music drops on 33 pace though.

I always had it turned on 100% volume until my PAL cart when I bought it had it turned to 80% from the previous owner. Turns out I preferred that volume.
