There have now been 10 major Unhoard video projects in the Elite. What are your favorites? Since they are all very good I allowed each person to choose up to 3.
-
Kapap 2 - Had one of the most memorable and personal-able rosters in any hoard. Big fan of the song choices. Green and swiss are my favs
Kapap 3 - Very well edited and once again had the cast doing what they do best. The credits song makes me emotional immediately, makes you feel sad that it's over. Love Jono & Green in this
PD - Perhaps my fav soundtracks, lacked skits and im not big on house tours. Biased PD boi here voting for the game i love. Flicker stole the show imo
HM: Century Club - All the mates were there and i wish i had a 4th vote
-
I need four votes so i can vote for my four unhoards.

Sampap -
I'd only joined The Elite in the month prior, and was busy filling out my times page. As a total noob I loved Sammo's goal of being PTR champ. Inspired, I think I'd even achieved a few PTRs of my own by then (Runway 23, B1 18 and Depot 27 come to mind).
I'd had some awareness of hoards before, had seen Goose cherry pick the 'good parts' from Kapap3, but this was the first time I'd been there live for the reveal on Twitch and that was a big part of the experience.
As for the runs they were exactly what I hooked for. I kind of expected him to troll with every 1 point time in the ranks, but the songs THE SONGS! I can't understate how much I laughed out loud at the songs. The whole presentation was just so perfectly Sammo (the off centre black graphics, the angry man persona, the no bullshit sense of humour...)
I didn't expect an 80 point run on Cavs SA to be the closer, that was a real surprise.
Gets points for being my first to witness live, but still my favourite.
Kapap3 -
When I was dropping Luke home from Ausmeet I confessed I'd never seen the Kapaps in full, and we had a great chat about them for the 20 min drive. I spent the next three nights devouring the Kapaps in sequence (thanks DSX for continuing to host them BTW).
Each was great, but Kapap 3 was just so impressive as a piece of work. The production was incredible (how long did those dominoes take to set up, how do you even play N64 on the beach), and the quality of the runs was outstanding.
I'm not sure any hoard ever will be able to match the outstanding pairing of Hurt to a record that stands untied now for 2 years.
They definitely left on a high

Still have a recency bias helping this one along, but how could this not me top 3?
Great runs, surprising reveals, a new champ. What stands out for me was the presentation though. The skits were hilarious, even a WR and strat untied (S1 102, S2 54) were 'too boring' to be presented as is and were given complete work overs to be more interesting.
The stand out was the Wodahs arc, from rock bottom, to training with Irie to sweet redemption.
Honourable mention to Century Club, for genuinely making me feel like I got to know the mates that appeared in that a little better

Kapap3 - The finale of what is indisputably the greatest trilogy in (hoarding) history. Amazing music, amazing runs, amazing skits, just amazing everything.
SAMPAP - Really redefined what a hoard could be. Had fun with itself and that's what gives it its charm. Still waiting for a playlist of all the songs :smirk:
[k4] - Really upped the production value of hoards to 11. Breathtakingly beautiful quality (of runs, of music, and of skits). The finale of SOS SA 1:50 honestly gave me goosebumps. This is the hoard that marks the new era.

Didn't realize I could vote for 3 and can't change what I voted so gonna do it in comments.
1. [K4]: Went above and beyond in terms of production quality along with fantastic times and runs I didn't expect. I'll write a bigger post about K4 in the reflections thread when my schedule is open.
2. Kapap 3: This gains a lot of points for finishing off the trilogy. It's almost like return of the kings where everything comes together and you leave the movie satisfied. Few trilogies gets better towards the end, but this one certainly did in my eyes. Aztec 1:35 was also the perfect run to end on.
3. PD: Even with the problems and delays, PD was a very enjoyable watch elevated by key runs such as Flickerform's Deep Sea PA and Pauliwood's Investigation PA run. I think if I was more familiar with Perfect Dark when I watched it live I would've enjoyed it more, but the excitement of listening to the voice chat live kept my interest throughout the entire video.
Even though these are my favorite hoards (That I wasn't a part of myself), I think I've enjoyed every hoard so far, and I would only encourage other people to get involved with more projects like this, big or small, as I think it's a big part of what separates this community from other speedrunning games. Not every unhoard needs to have an untied or insane WRs. When me, BK, Happens and JD started Century Club we barely had any decent times. My best time was probably Facility 45 which is barely worth points these days.
All in all, 2019 was a great year and hopefully the excitement will continue into 2020.

Kapap
Its the first, what can I say? It broke ground, and was easily the most memorable to me for that reason. Of course, it was built upon and expanded into so much more, but without this one, we would have nothing. When Kapap was first approaching we didn't even know what it was. We didn't expect it at all. It's extremely hard to get that authentic novelty ever again.
