Most unhoards have someone who's in it announce it, that way their reputation is on the line and people can be convinced to watch it. This? Lmao

Although since it's going to be on the elite gaming twitch that limits who is putting this together.

This will be the best unhoard of the DECADE so far no doubt, have faith.

High preds (pretty sure they're in this):

BK - "Burnt out" & "Goal for 2020 5.5x". yeaaaa...... I'm almost willing to bet money hes in this.
Dr. Light & Pauli - Cannot just be playing LTK for months on end
Yendis - No PRs in months, although school could have been too busy
JD - could be in it although taco bell and invest 1:02 grind sort of tells me otherwise.
Green & Gus - Were high preds for k4 but were not in it so they could be in this one. Gus has a 2 month hole in 2019. Green has been streaming lately just to throw us off
Calle W - Pretty sure he's got some stuff.
Brent McGarvey - Totally forgot, probably has 217

Medium preds (a chance, but unsure):
Ace - WILD pred but you never know..
dsx - Insane ruse, COULD be in this.
Ragequit - Moved into his new place and might have some spare time to play

Low preds (crapshoots):
Henrik - You never know
Mike Mint - There's a chance idk
Flicker - Has been posting but you NEVER know
Verbsky - Possibly

Ace's Top Ten Project 2020 Preds (ATTP2020P)

(note: this is the most DIVERSE hoard yet, featuring many different hoarders):

1. Pauliwood, Dr. Light, Fletchr, BK, etc. are all in there with a handful of WAR 25s, Cradle Agent 33s, S1 102, Def 5, AFO 52s, etc. type times.

2. Sammo has his own segment called "Sampap 2". It features more parody songs and ends with a Caverns 1:01. Also has Runway Agent 0:22. There is a scene with him talking to ArchieLuxury in a Rolex store, getting advice on what watch to buy.

3. Green has a segment called "Green Project 5". Times include Chicago 25/26, Crash Site PA 1:42, Villa 1:02, and the Defense SA/PA WRs.

4. Ace is there with a segment called "Frigace - Ace's Redemption" (shortened to FAR in the video). He has a Frigate Agent 0:22 old strat from ages ago, AND 0:21 with the new whiteted strat he got just recently. In addition, he has a Frigate SA 0:58. This was achieved just DAYS after Frosthops' 0:59 aired in k4. He also has an Aztec Agent 1:21 with the crouch strat. It features, not surprisingly, a TTYD song (X-Naut Fortress theme to be precise).

5. Luke Szklarz has unretired and makes it back to champ. He has S2 0:46/0:47, Dam 1:55, and B2 0:23. There is a HarryCoupe speedbully scene right after the 0:47 SA, where he R-leans himself into the River Thames.

6. We finally see the Pauliwood Rescue PA untied. POSSIBLY SA.

7. Pauliwood's times make him reach 7th place, with 52xx points.

8. mw leaves The Elite discord for a week right after the hoard ends. While he's gone, he gets MBR PA 1:01. Just after he returns, he gets Chicago PA 0:25, the first ever .93 decimal round down on Chicago. He is accused of splicing by Clemens, and Clemens acts like an idiot and posts a bunch of nonsense (Chicago PA 0:18, Defection SA 0:03, Crash Site SA 0:58) before a proof moderator restores his times and he is frozen from the rankings. He later apologizes.

9. berg shows a Runway Agent 0:22 with a 3:0:1 ratio as a proof-of-concept 0:21.

10. The closing run of the hoard is Train Agent 0:56 by Henrik.

"Based on the image" - The image is somewhat ambiguous and could mean the night of Friday (which would be 12:00AM Saturday) or the night of Saturday (12:00AM of Sunday)

For whatever reason, Harry is saying he knows that it will be the latter

Fair enough, I assume you are the person who will be hosting it on TheEliteGaming twitch and have some confirmation of the time because that is not what the image says. The image isn't ambiguous at all, "Saturday at midnight" means the night of Friday (11:59pm) into Saturday (12:01am).

"Saturday at midnight" means the night of Friday (11:59pm) into Saturday (12:01am).

You are technically correct, however, not everyone understands this. Thus, the ambiguity and confusion.

Further speculation has me even more convinced so i'll try to guess some times now, lets see how many people i get right and how many corresponding times i get right

Pauliwood - Attack Ship A 2:09/2:08, Attack Ship SA 2:35/2:34, Air Base PA 2:04/2:03, WAR A 0:25, Defection A 0:05, Chicago SA 0:25, Rescue PA 2:36, Maian SOS SA 1:50, Deep Sea PA 3:09, Infiltration PA 1:40

Dr. Light - WAR A 0:25, Defection A 0:05, Defense Agent 0:45, Attack Ship A 2:09/2:08, WAR PA 0:52, WAR SA 0:45/0:44, Bunker 2 SA 0:45 New Strat, Maian SOS PA 2:04

BK - Extraction A 0:48, Extraction SA 1:20/1:19, AFO A 0:52, Investigation A 1:03, Defense A 0:45, Defection SA 0:18, Defense SA 1:17, Air Base Agent 1:13

Yendis - Archives SA/00 0:54, Facility A 0:43, Facility 00A 0:53, Caverns A 1:01, Dam 00A 1:57, Control SA 4:06, Bunker 2 SA 0:45 New Strat

Surely one of these is wrong, and surely im missing a few, but i only wrote the ones im the most sure about.
Someone has an untied on S2 00, i feel like it should have been grabbed by now.
At least 1 level in PD will get exposed
So many more people to suspect honestly, but we'll see tonight.

Chuya TAKIZAWA returns with Attack Ship Agent 2:05, in pristine captured 720p quality with full in game sound.  For this, the closing scene of the unhoard shows Chuya receiving the Order of Rising Sun from Emperor Naruhito.  Attack Ship Agent 2:05 goes on to be untied for 10 more years, resulting in a 20+ untied WR reign on the stage.

Thanks to everyone for watching. So much have lead up to this point, and I even put my K4 thoughts on hold because they were very much entangled with my thoughts on P2020 at the time. Thanks to everyone in the Project, and thanks to the ones who have gone through this before us, the K4 Crew, Kapaps, PD, Sammo, the ones in Century Club who wasnt a part of P2020 and part 11.

And especially thanks to Ricky and Harry for putting on the preshow and airing the video.

We'll eventually do a commentary together, but for now I want to write a recap on this from my perspective.

Some of you in the Discord might remember me saying I wanted to hoard Bunker 2 SA 0:42. I wanted to get another time, and hoard with one other guy to post a surprise mini-unhoard video. That obviously failed because hoarding is very difficult...

...unless you're hoarding with a bunch of other mates. :nesquik: Yendis approached me a few days before k4 aired, indirectly asking if I wanted to be in a project he was working on. I was keen but wasn't sure how much time I could dedicate mostly because of grandiose expectations from a player like myself in a hoard, and needing to apply to grad school again. I knew I could get the Controls within a reasonable amount of time but had no idea what else to go for, especially since I was burnt out from all the records I got earlier in the year (42, 51, 129, 218s, etc). I remember just throwing out a bunch of times like 401/402, Dam 1:54, B2 0:41 & Silo 0:59. I told Yendis I would only join the Discord group when I got my first record.

The Times:

Control 4:01 - I streamed 4:01 attempts for a good while & duped 4:02 around 10 times before playing offline. I got 2 more 402s before I nailed this run. Watching it back I'm a bit surprised it was still 4:01 because I had no boostage in the crate area and an average Nat angle. Everything else was fast though, and I'm sure it was a super high decimal. Took a solid 2 weeks of grinding.

Control 4:02 - Logically the next record to go for. The pace felt easier after SA 4:01, but I was getting trolled almost every good run - crates, trying to do an insane warp after crates, the protect, etc. The protect is cooked with barely any health and you need to be super focused so I'm not surprised I didn't get this on a weekday after work. You might notice a new glass strat - this was my 2nd ever run using it and I got it to work 2/2 runs. I had some dumb fails, like accidentally killing Nat on 402 pace, a C fail 402, 403.00s, etc. Overall 401/402 feel fairly equal but I like this run a lot more because it didn't have any cringe R-aiming my SA 401 did in various places. Think it took 15 hours.

P2 1:52 - I had no idea what to play for after 4:02. I thought Frigate 0:22 wouldn't take long because of my B fail from a year and a half earlier, but I severely underrated this time. I amassed like 600 fails after 2 weeks of grinding and only had some BS borderline 22/23 A complete. Then my power supply stopped working & I couldn't play for another 1.5 weeks. I played it again for like 5 days after I received my new one, and got around 200 more fails. In total I had about 120 total fails where 1 hostage escaped and just couldn't believe my luck relative to Karl's. After spending 60 hours across a month I knew I had to move on / return to it later because we were had already decided the Feb 1 date ages ago and there were only a couple of months left. I didn't want to have a segment with only 4 times or so, so I quit playing this. It was an awful grind, and I couldn't whine about it in the-elite Discord. :kappa:

Nothing else in GE interested me, so I decided to try some PD. I booted up P2 thinking I'd be rusty but surprisingly played well in my first session. I had a couple of 109 doors in the blue corridors (my fastest ever) and the same session I got 1:52. A 3 hour session. The run was textbook 1:52, just a decent run overall. My fastest x-ray door TT is 1.7s quicker, and a great ending could be a second quicker. I'd say 1:50 would be a VERY good time here. I didn't want to keep going because my goal was to just get as many times as I could in the month or so I had left (I wanted to spend a decent amount of time editing & sending my segment to BK well in advance). I wasn't consistent with the late GPS pause, and I honestly didn't care about it because there's time to gain everywhere else. This would be my breakthrough time - pretty much everything else was in the coming 2-3 weeks.

P2 0:38 (not in video) - I played for this the same night I got 1:52. It's far from fun compared to SA/PA but I figured I could give it a shot since I've been a bit patient lately (Statue 218s, who'd have expected that?). I had to relearn a lot of things (warp, completely forgot about the 2nd scientist speech skips) but it was fun to grind after that. I got 0:40 in about an hour, and then 0:38 another hour later. I thought my 0:38 had a chance at 0:37 and knowing that it was close made me want to grind for the untied sweep. I played it some more the next day & duped 0:38 twice. Instead of grinding for it I decided to play the level every now & then.

Villa 1:22 - I knew this would be a great time to have in the hoard. I watched the entirety of Clemens' 1:22 for the first time & immediately knew that if I got 1:22, it'd be a slower run to the basement with an insane ending. I still had some dishwasher muscle memory from years ago when I got 1:24 and played pretty well my first session. The next session I duped 1:24 twice and had a couple of borderline paces (similar to my 1:22) to the basement where I choked a guard or two, mostly because of low ammo. I genuinely couldn't believe this time only took only two sessions. Later looking through Discord convos where people commented on 1:22 > 1:37 made me even more hype to show this time. Despite the jab at Clemens & how short it took I think it's still tier 1. Apart from the clip stuck it's a very good run, with a basement as about as good as you can hope for with those insane nerves.

WAR! 0:44 (not in video) - I originally planned to go for this time with the "normal" strat but watching Sam's 0:44 with no boosts at the start made me realize this strat had to be better. I didn't understand what exactly was going on so I had to dig through some thread & old Discord convos. I was actually shocked at how much faster the paces were. It took a handful of runs to the very end because I was pretty bad with the 2nd king shot and the door would always barely be open. The best part about this strat is the insane door consistency in the beginning, especially the first door which is almost always open. I wasn't satisfied with 0:44 but wanted to get back to it after PA.

WAR! 0:51 - I skipped 0:52. This came quicker than the 0:44 because of no troll 2nd king shot, and the Wouter shot (fast shot) on the 3rd king isn't as bad if you set your angle/aim before the shot, which is pretty easy. I had a 0:52 where I got slapped to death after the shot, and a handful of 0:51s missing the 3rd king shot. Only took one session & I feel like the record will drop to 0:50 soon. I really think this is a tier 5 time.

P2 0:37 - After a couple of 0:38 dupes I figured out the open yellow corridor door on the way to GPS strat (I know someone probably thought of this ages ago). I was pacing 0:37 without it, but I felt like this trick would make the grind more tolerable. It turned out to be a bad strat because I was getting slow objective 2 completes and I got 0:37 the day after I ditched using it. That felt like an amazing discovery because at one point I genuinely thought I wouldn't be able to ever get 0:37 scientists. I did have a 0:36 pace run with the open door trick as well, but again, who knows if objective 2 would ever complete that fast.

My average speech skip TT was around flat 23, but I did have a few mid 22s. Clutching the GPS is pretty hard on pace and I choked a bunch of runs there. I think I lost one 0:37 to the warp.

It took around 20 hours (my most grinded time) and I had 5 38s in total. I was super keen on this one because having 2 untied sweeps felt like a cooked achievement for the unhoard, and the Agent record is one I should have had ages ago. Just feared xrayless for no reason.

Funny thing - a day or so earlier I had this cooked run (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XouzOd0vi-M) - the boosts on WAR from earlier really destroyed my already shit stick, and it just snapped off! (https://i.imgur.com/Etf9iSe.png) I was in disbelief (even though that's happened before) and was irritated for a bit because my other controllers all had terrible sticks and I wasn't sure if I could even go for records anymore. I eventually got used to one of them, which is  the same one you see at the end of my Extraction 1:16.

WAR! 0:43 - This felt like a matter of time because I was getting 39.x doors very frequently (once every 10m or so?). I had a lot of runs to the end where the door was barely open or I missed the shot by a yoctopixel. If I knew I was on 0:42 pace I probably would have gone for a more risky shot. 0:42 is still out there, and should happen eventually. I felt bad for Sam because he would have gotten this long ago if he did boosts in the beginning. Seems to save a little over a second with good boosts and a good first Skedar kill.

Extraction 1:16 - After I got 0:37/0:43 I felt happy with my PD times. But a day later I felt like I had no diversity in the levels (2 Controls, 2 P2 runs, 2 WAR..), so I wanted to play another level. I decided to give this level a shot, and this was my first time grinding it since 2007 when I untied 1:20. I got 1:18 (1:17.9x round up) on my very first session with a missed shotgun shot on the last BG and that got me keen. I was pacing 1:16 very often and knew it was just a matter of time before I nailed the BG room. I had a 1:15 fail as well, but I think my 1:16 is a very good run. Probably 1:15 with the open door after last BG since it was a very low decimal.

I was finally content with what I had. It was late December and it would still be around 10 days before my GC stick would arrive, so I decided to work on editing.

Runway 0:22 - This one has an interesting story. From the time I got 401/402 we all knew Runway 0:22 with the YMCA song would be a great opener / anonymous run for my segment. I bought a GC stick controller from Pauli in late October, and had him ship it to a domestic US address because I had some family coming over in November. That controller, which had a healthy Pauli autograph & Leosco drawing, was sadly lost in the mail.

Then Yendis generously sent one along with a few goodies to my address over here. Surprise surprise, that one never arrived either. I was hoping it would at least arrive late, but nope. Luckily another a relative was coming over in late December, so I shipped a stick to their US address and had them bring it. I was keen to try out a GC stick because I have only previously used a superpad. I do feel like a superpad stick is easier to handle.

I was rusty at first, despised lookup boosts and thought this would be a headache of a grind. Then I decided to use the lookdown strat and the level was suddenly 500x better. It took a while to get good OCJ, and I eventually failed a 4:0 lookdown 22 with a legit battery attempt. I think I had 12 22 fails in total, not many 23s. I was 100% sure this run was 0:22 because I had a healthy guard boost too. I was ecstatic getting this one because I was ultra keen on making this video to the YMCA song. I was surprised I still wasn't on the LB with this one, which gave me the idea to make the little Discord skit I showed right after showing the endscreen.

Villa 1:11 - I couldn't play for about a month RIGHT after the 0:22, but I didn't really care because I just wanted to start editing and felt satisfied with what I had. I had the opportunity to play again in the last week of Jan and had a bunch of editing already done, so I decided to give Villa 1:11 some attempts. Again, I felt rusty and felt like my clip consistency was bad compared to my attempts last year when I got 1:01/1:12. I had 2 or 3 other 1:11 runs to the basement where I got trolled by the 3rd last basement guard not moving out of his hiding spot. Luckily this one didn't take long and I was so happy I could toss in another run to my segment. My original plan was to show this during some Control protect.

The order of runs:

The mates and I knew it would be cooler and suspenseful to not have the same levels in a row. I decided on 0:37 & 1:16 last because they were my favourite times, and P2 1:52 first because it felt like the "weakest" record and a good opening level to get people keen. I wanted to show one Control run early on as well. I initially thought of putting some run over a Control protect, but later ditched the idea. An untied over an untied might have been too much.

The editing:

I had SO much fun doing this, and editing was easier than expected despite some troll problems I ran into with Vegas. I knew I had to throw in a PM64 or TTYD song, and decided WAR! 0:51 would be a decent run to use one to since the level is pretty short. Then I had the ingenious idea of adding some battle effects to the run. It was just adding the graphics (I got the HUD from some YouTube video) at the right moments on separate layers and some motion tracking effects.

For the end of chapter meme on my 4:02: you can actually open the ROM in a text editor, edit the raw text, and then save the file. The only constraint I had was having the same # of characters as the original text, so there was some sentence cookery involved. For the curtains effect I just recorded the game, masked out the irrelevant stuff & put my own text on. I'm very happy with how it turned out. P.S. Vegas is garbage for masking.

The combat simulator effect was fun to make. It took a while to get that background graphic because I couldn't find one without the menu. I went into Project 64 and messed around with some graphics settings to minimize the amount of stuff on the menu & then enlarged the video to get rid of any extra stuff, which worked out nicely. The "scrolling" in the levels was just some basic JavaScript and using OBS to record the browser. I took inspiration from k4 to make this one.

PizzaAce was fun to make. At first I just planned to show the clips on their own and possibly recording myself having a convo with the cashier (in Urdu). But that seemed a bit awkward and one day when booting up Paper Mario I felt the intro would be PERFECT to use for something like this. I knew I could concoct a story in the same style as the original game (the "this wasn't part the story" twist). The MOAM footage is by Dusky - on his YT. I loved baiting the PizzaMods to get some material to use for the skit.  :kappa: That pizza was pretty good, but way too heavy. I wanted to toss the entire thing out after having like 2 slices, no disrespect to PizzaNet. :nesquik: This skit was done in the 2nd last week. I found a tool to edit the intro dialogue text pretty easily but I had to mask some stuff at times because you'd see shit like a shadow of Bowser flying through the foreground.

We had the intro planned for months but only started working on it in the last 2 weeks or so. It was Dr. Light's idea (including the Dam SA tutorial thing). I was thinking of ways to execute it, and eventually thought it would be more exciting and less work to have the backstory of the contract already done, and just have Yendis print it, sign it and then have a convo with me. We didn't actually have any conversation - they were separate clips with us talking to ourselves and some audio effects added on. The robocall voice was done by Dr. Light's mom. :nesquik: My side of the "convo" is loud because my laptop's fan is obnoxious and Vegas has terrible noise removal filters. I'm happy with how well the business card turned out, and I'll probably print a few to keep (and possibly hand out when I attend MOAM 2025 :nesquik:). Yendis did a fantastic job with making the clips I asked him to do. :smirk:

The music: I went with more upbeat, indie rock/pop songs. I didn't spend much time selecting music, apart from on the Control runs. Found a number of great bands on Spotify.

My laptop isn't really built for rendering - ~30 minutes of 1080p took about 3 hours and I was concerned my laptop would die halfway through a render.

It was fun hoarding with the mates. I have a WAY bigger appreciation of and respect for hoards because of the amount of work and coordination involved, especially by the editors, regardless of the quality of records. I took a lot of inspiration from k4, the kapaps, PD, Part 11, and would often watch (parts of) them from time to time.

Yendis - Cheers for the HEALTHY invite mate. I wouldn't have had the motivation to grind for anything after 401/402. Would probably still be grinding for Frigate 0:22 old strat and whining all day about Discord Live turncoats or some other BS instead of secretly grinding for untieds and learning editing skills.

Calle - Absolute cooker who was pissing out 147s run after run. Was unreal watching his consistency in Discord Live. Dude had some insane goals and achieved most of them. Got me to grind 0:22 with the lookdown strat, saving me a week or two of torture. 1:46 was insanely clutch in the last few days. I got emotional watching that one during the premiere.

Joey - Underground guy in the-elite Discord but very active in the project Discord and cool to talk to. Has insanely good taste in music/movies and would always link epic songs. The 1:21 is by far my favourite run in the entire production.

DrLight - Came up with great ideas for my intro. Surprised us with some insane times (AS 2:09/3:09, hell even 2:36 which he posted, WAR 0:43, the Runway LTK run which I feel is underrated, solid MBR times).

BK - Huge mate with a bunch of insane times and cooked dedication. Props for being the main editor, making the whole video and fixing stuff everywhere, and adding fixes/edits to my segment. You did a fantastic job. Dude was flying across the continent and still caking records here and there, and if I remembe correctly, unhoarded a bunch of good times in the middle of this hoard.

Wouter - Amazing :dadjokes: in the Discord. So glad you were able to get a run in the video, man.

Kyto - Huge mate. He seemed keen on getting some times but would always stream with mop instead. :kappa:

JD - Really funny dude. Mate was close to getting Investigation 1:02.

Birdie was in the Discord and from the little I know he seemed very keen to be part of this. Hope all is going well & keen to see you soon, mate. :)

A HUGE thanks to Ricky & Harry for hosting it, and most importantly all of the MATES & turncoats in the-elite Discord for tuning in to watch something we put hundreds of hours into. I screwed up massively at one point but Dusky was a mate and handled that fuck-up extremely well. :kappa: :kappa: :kappa:

The preds were great too, and shoutouts to Ricky for some remarkable preds - he was the only one who suspected both me & Calle and correctly predicted a bunch of times.

Suggested tier changes for my records:

P2 1:52: Tier 2 - even though I got it quickly it's a good run and high OCJ type.
Villa 1:11 - Tier 2, maybe Tier 3. It does feel pretty good though. Another high OCJ type level.
Control 4:01 - Tier 1
Control 4:02 - Tier 1
WAR! 0:43 - Tier 5 I guess? Light says Tier 6. I guess it does feel more or less the same as CI 0:45 so maybe.
WAR! 0:51 - see above
Villa 1:22  - still Tier 1
P2 0:37 - Tier 2
Extraction 1:16 - Tier 2

PROJECT 2020 REFLECTION POST

Well, Project 2020 has come and gone, and I would first of all like to thank everyone involved with me on this amazing project.

Thank you Yendis for being to first to reach out and suggest we do "Century Club 2"

Thank you Calle for being a FUCKING legend and getting insane times and being a great mate

Thank you JD for being just overall an awesome dude to hoard with

Thank you Dr. Light for motivating me to pick up my game and try to keep up with you on the ranks

Thank you Joey for having the most cooked run/song in this entire project

Thank you Ace for editing your own section  :kappa: (and also for bringing this project to the next level)

Thank you Kyto for being there from the beginning as well to give motivation and grats

Thank you Wouter for agreeing to hoard with us, and finally finishing the cradle 34 sweep

THE TIMES

Villa A 1:05 - This time was a bit of a surprise (even to me) when I got it. I had been playing for a villa clip since mid June, and got a 1:08 on my first day playing. I then played for another month with no completions, until I finally broke through on July 2nd with a 1:07, and the 1:05 within an hour of eachother.

Extraction SA 1:20 - I really wanted 1:18/1:17 for this project, but just couldn't do the ending quickly enough for it. This run is easy 1:18 pace if I didn't get a cass stuck (luck) and if the rocket wasn't behind the "X" (luck). Overall decent run though.

Pelagic II A 0:41 - Played far too long for this one. Horrible level I'm glad to be done with.

Rescue A 1:25 - Another time I spent waaaaaay too long on. Pace is super easy, but I would choke every single 38.X disguise I got. Ended up with like 6 1:26s off of high 39 disguises. 1:24 eventually.

Investigation SA 1:59 - Only played this for the PAL untied (plus I thought my ntsc console was broken at the time). Missed like 4 b presses, but I'm done here.

Maian SOS A 1:37 - One of my best times, took like 30 hours (longest grind for my section). Really troll level, but I'm glad I was the first new player to get a fast cycle run since 2016.

Defection SA 0:18 - Was originally gonna stop at 0:19 because I thought you needed the "fast start" (5 style) to get 0:18. As soon as I found that it wasn't needed, I got 0:18 two days after my 0:19. Decent time overall.

AFO A 0:52 - Just kinda decided to play this because I wanted a world record. Wasn't too bad of a grind, just took time and patience.

Extraction A 0:48 - Finally! This time was becoming the second "BKTAR", so I'm glad I was able to get it relatively early into the hoard so I could shut up about it  :rollin: . Really proud of this run, and it's the one that told me that I was capable of any time I set my mind to.

Crash Site A 1:14 - Now I couldn't tell you why, but Crash Site has always been one of my favorite levels. Since I joined the elite, I've just had it in my mind that I needed 1:14, so I decided to make it happen. This was the second longest grind in my section (~25 hours), but I wouldn't call this time "difficult". If you can get 1:15, you can get 1:14.

Infiltration A 1:10 - Decided to go for this time because I was 99% sure Ricky/Dusky had it in [k4], so I was shocked when I discovered that I was the first to get this world record since 2016. Amazing run overall, probably my best time I've achieved (despite caking it, only about 15 hours).

EDITING

I offered to take the task of editing Project 2020 right away, partially because I wanted redemption from the abysmal quality of Century Club's final render, and partially because I wanted a fun challenge. I had a great time editing videos for everyone who couldn't make them on their own, and I loved being able to get "sneak peeks" into the final video before everyone else  :p . Although this was a massive undertaking for someone with my (lack of) editing skills, I enjoyed every moment of it  :grinning: .

ADDITIONAL THANKS

I also want to give my most sincere thanks to everyone who has ever made a hoard video in the past, without those videos to "blaze the trail" we wouldn't know where to go with this project.
Thank you all so much <3

Great job to everyone involved. Was not expecting joey at all. Wouter was a nice surprise, and im surprised Pauliwood is not in it at all.

Watching Ace play is always a treat and you feel so bad at the game after watching him just shit records out lol.

Outstanding work guys. That was a nice mix of runs, editing gimmicks from other games, and good discord meme messages. If we're using run quality as the standard, that's truly the best unhoard feature film that this community has ever released by far. Ace's section was phenomenal and was just cranking out so many untieds. Strange to think that this was the first time that he was directly involved in one of these things.

My favorite runs were s1 SA 146 and 00 147. Glad that journey has finally been finished. Must have been hellish to grind for so long. There also were a lot of good song choices. "You Look Fly Today" for War! really was a standout.

If it hasn't been done so already, a whole song list compilation would be appreciated. This vid also has the honor of being the one to bring total time to 1:10:59. Pretty cool.

time wise, you all took out a rare barrier, a PD barrier, and a GE barrier in the same hoard.
Title: Re: Project 2020

I'll do a recap on my times for Project 2020. It was great to be a part of this project with these insane times. Being in this project with all these people really pushed me and I hope to keep this motivation for the future and get even better times.

I was asked to be in this project by Yendis near the start of league and was pretty unsure on if I would want to because of how much I was playing. Yendis asked me again the day in the middlle of league and I said "put me in brother". I was added to the discord and the next day BK got 1:05. I focused on league still for the next month.

I'll be talking about each of my times in the order that they were achieved starting from the beginning of August when league ended.

MBR 56/56/104 - I took a week break after league to try and just give my hands a little break because I played every single day of summer league. These were my first times for the hoard that i got about 2-3 weeks after league by lowering my 58/58/107 little by little over time playing a little bit here and there. After this i realized I was still very burnt out from league and just played very little and picked up LTK/DLTK to finished 42/42 for PD. Also I got 104 on my first run of the day while in a call with Dusky and just said cass didnt complete

Defection Agent 5 - While still very burnt out I would load up defection trying for 5 sometimes in between completing DLTK levels and fixing up easy pbs that i left alone during league. I got a 6.05 and finally started pushing at it for a couple days and got it in another session the next day in the beginning of september. This was my first PD wr and cool to get it.

Here is a very long burn out period finally set in that was hitting me since league ended. After taking no real break from playing intensely for 3-4 months, I finally put real times on the backburner for a long time and just did ltk/dltk. From after my CI A 46, you can see in my pr history I just only went for very easy prs until early mid november. So about 2 months of nothing being accomplished from me except for ltk times. During these months, Ace joined with untieds, Calle has gotten multiple wrs and an untied, BK getting insane times and I thought its finally time for me to get back into things since my times i had werent looking so hot anymore

Attack Ship Agent 209 - So with me finally getting back into the swing of things and having attack ship on my brain from playing SA and PA and getting reasonable points there. I finally got to agent and started grinding that down to 2:11 very easily and thought I should go for 2:10 since it was a nice barrier for people and it would be a pretty decent time for the unhoard(everyone loves watching AS runs in unhoards). After 2 days of getting 2:11 and 7 more hours of play, I fluke a 2:09 with a 20 ending and freak out. Skipping 2:10 is just insane with how many people just leave there time there. This really kickstarted my motivation to play until the next day when it accidently got leaked into lobby to some people and that actually really killed my motivation again to not play again for a while and I even considered just dropping out of this unhoard. I was really salty at this point and I went on another break again for a couple weeks.

After this, I started playing again 2 weeks later when I realized I was being stupid but couldnt decide on what to play. We were pretty set on a February 1st release so I had to start playing again and our insane times were stacking up. I started lowering my Attack Ship PA because of Lake Demon's new untied and landed on 3:13 and decided that would be a good place to stop and hoard that as well as an Attack Ship SA 2:36 that I just hoarded but posted in January because it wasnt good enough and I caked that 2:36 in just a couple hours.

Attack Ship PA 309/Runway LTK 41 - So on the same day I finished my last exam for my fall semester in December, I came home super keen to play some runway ltk that I just started playing a little the day before to test the waters and realized an untied here with the grenades is very possible. I came home and got 41 in about 2 hours of work but it left a salty taste in my mouth because I was usually pacing 40 but had a slow run and got 41 and I left it here and plugged in my PD cart to maybe see how hard lowering my 3:13 would be for AS PA. About 3 hours into this session while talking to Sammy Rodgers, I had a really insane run where I would of had like a 23 end 3:11 but MISSED the last skedar somehow and was heartbroken and told sammy "yeah, I just missed the skedar". I decided that I was going to push for this time. Tying Boss' legendary NTSC run would be insane for me. 1 hour later I would get my 3:09 with my one and only 19 end and lied my ass off to sammy just saying "i missed the skedar again". I have never been so happy to choke a run in my life. Now I was finally back into playing with no school and all the motivation of everyone in the unhoard.

Runway 00 34 - The next day I decided that since I was warmed up with r-taps from runway ltk that I was finally going to get redemption for my shitty 35 that I got back all the way in January. Got a 35 dupe the first day because of a couple extra backs at the end but then got 34 in 45 minutes the next day.

War 25 - I put this off for so long because it was just so boring but I finally decided that I would go for this while trying to figure out what to dedicate myself to next. Across the next 2 days I played war agent for 6 hours and got it. 45 minutes before this run though I had a 23.90 which rounded up and that kinda made me salty and its funny that my 25 is a 23.90 also.

War DLTK 1:18 - Now something that I did not mention was this grind that started before my Attack Ship 3:09, I would play this off and on since beginning of december using the same strat icy does but commiting to killing the 2nd king. I really wanted this time because in the 1st hour of the grind I had a 1:21/1:22 pace die at the very end because I didnt press B on the door or press B on it while it was closing(idk which) and a skedar came in and killed me while shooting at the last king. So after another 20ish hours, I was finally able to nail this run with my fastest start ever and luckiest end.

Runway LTK 39 - While still feeling a little salty about my 41 and still being warmed up with r-taps, I came back to ltk a couple days later and realized how awful my 41 was and that I really should be pacing 39. Loaded up my GE cart and caked a 39 in less than an hour for a 3 second ltk untied. Just went faster and only broke strafe once for the hut guards. Was fortunate to be able to get that so quick since i only had an hour to play that day.

B1 SA 22 - The next week I played some more random ltks and other easy pbs and posted them after getting some times I was proud of for the unhoard. Finally I went to B1 SA to finally get my first GE leaderboards(B1 leaderboards was my goal when I first started playing GE) after trying back in March and failing near twenty 22s missing the last cam. I got this 22 at the end of a 6 hour session(maybe 4 of actually playing but my recording said 6 hours) and was so happy to finally get it. I 100% thought it was not it because of no boosts at the end hallway but got an insane warp.

Times from AS 309 to B1 SA 22 are only december

War SA 44 - So I had a 46 from december as well because of watching Ace's 43 and thought wow 46 is cake. I got that in an hour with no self boosts. I came back to War SA with only the goal of getting 44 and it not being in the video. I decided I was going to use self boosts since Ace caked 43 in only a couple days with it, and I got 45 within 5 minutes of turning on my console again on a completely shit run. After this I played for and got War PA 53 in the same day but with no self boosts in a couple more hours of play and skipping 54. The next day I went back to War SA to try for 44 and got it in about 3 hours and was really happy. At this point I felt I was done with the hoard and started doing song choices and relaxing.

War SA 43 - 3 days later, It started eating away at me that I could possibly get 43 and started up the grind again for War SA. I had about thirty 39.x last door opens which definately give me a shot at 43 if both of the last doors cooperate. I played for about 3 days and got it in about 10 hours of play on a 40 flat last door. Now I didnt want anymore times in this unhoard so I played other stuff

War PA 52 - My last grind that I did not want to be in the unhoard no matter what due to oversaturation of war runs. I was playing for 52 but would do yolo shot for 51 on occasional runs. This took about 7 hours to lower my 53 and my end decimal is a .03 on a very safe final shot with minor stucks here and there. Will definately be returning to this in the near future hopefully for 500 points on war. Didn't go in the video but I posted this after the release but the grind was somewhat substantial

Attack Ship SA 2:36/Infil A 1:11/P2 A 41 - All these times were hoarded until after release or until later months. None of the grinds were hard. 2:36 skipped all the way from 2:40 in a a couple hours of trying in deceber and didnt want to put it in since my other two AS times are much better. Infil 1:11 took one session and was just mostly for point gain and if I didnt manage to get enough times for the unhoard. P2 41 was a skip from 43 and took only one session. We already had two P2 agent runs and it wasnt a stellar time.

The only time in this unhoard that I did grind for and was unable to achieve was CI A 45, Sadly I did put in a good 10-13 hours for this time and was unable to get close and only able to get 1 dupe and it was worse than my original. This is something that I still really want to get but the level is just awful. One day though

I think that about covers my times and stories that concern me for the unhoard. Everyone in this project was amazingly helpful with certain levels and motivation. It was a pleasure working with all them. They really pushed me to do the best I could and I am happy with what times I got.
Title: Re: Project 2020
Post by: Yendis on February 03, 2020, 10:50:21 am
So I'll do a recap of Project 2020 from my perspective.

It really goes all the way back to the end of Century Club, where we realized the potential to make something the community as a whole finds fun. Ever since that date we always joked about doing another one, sometimes serious and sometimes not. I recall one time I joined voice chat drunk on a Saturday night in May, asking everyone in voice at the time if they wanted to hoard. This was definitely not serious, but the day after Kyto sent me a PM asking if I was serious about it, this ended up being the reason I contacted Kyto in July about doing this project.

When it became serious was in early July during league, where BK suddenly achieved Villa Agent 105 after gradually lowering his time using the basement clip. I was at this point stuck in a different city working for an offshore oil company and my N64 at this time was having problems related to a bad RGB mod. Eventually having sorted out everything including finding new people to live with which was very stressful, we made the Project 2020 (working title at the time) discord and invited Dr Light and Birdie. I also asked Pauliwood, but he declined because he was too busy.

Because of the problems I had with my RGB mod, I talked quite a bit with Calle throughout summer. This eventually made me ask him if he wanted to join the hoard. He said at some point that he tried hoarding for a "Callepap" himself at some point, so he was happy to join our unhoard. After talking to Wouter throughout 2019 at various points I asked him if he wanted to join in and try to get a few PRs. I'll admit I never expected him to put a lot of time into the hoard, but me and the others always hoped that we could display the historic WJ initials at some point. So throughout the year we tried to encourage him to play for anything really. Wouter ended up becoming very good company in the discord and out of everyone I think he watched the most discord live streams.

The hoarding roster was at this point supposed to be: BK, Me, Dr Light, Birdie, Kyto, Calle and maybe Wouter.

As time went by we were talking about potential skits we could make, and the one we theorized that would have been very funny was a Birdie revenge skit on Sammy from his boppage in Kapap 3. There's a scene from the Kill Bill movie where the bride sits on the plane writing down her "Death List" Scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnoT6_LNUjA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnoT6_LNUjA). Where I thought shopping in Birdie for the bride and seeing Birdie write down the names of people who have bopped him in the past would be very funny. Birdie eventually disappeared and this didn't become a thing. We tried contacting Birdie at different points because he was maybe the most excited about the unhoard, and I had a long voice conversation where he expressed interest in achieving S2 A 46 and the Cradle sweep. Hope you come back and watch what we started Birdie!

At this point we achieved a few PBs here and there. Dr Light and BK were both playing quite a bit of Defense achieving some 90 pointers, none of these made it into the video. Dr Light also achieved the MBR times which did make it in, the editing for these videos were done early on and took inspiration by BKs MBR runs from Century Club. Dr Light also got the first world record of the hoard with Defection 5. Around this time school etc started to pick up for me and Dr Light so we didn't achieve very much, while BK got several times including Extraction 48 concluding his extraction journey he started in Century Club where his final time was 49.

A month or so passed with PRs here and there. Around this time (mid october) I achieved Facility 00 0:53, a 95 pointer, system WR and to this date some will say my career best time. This time was very exciting to achieve, I don't consider myself a top player or anything, so seeing my name above brilliant players while securing my leaderboard placement felt really good. Although, it was maybe a little bittersweet as the run could have very easily been 52 and my first notable world record. This is my only good doak good trev I've ever had on a good SA or 00 run.

Around a week and a half after Calle achieved our first UWR. This sparked some debate within the discord, because we were still months away from our release and players like Wodahs, Gus could had the potential to snipe the untied. I really admire Calle for being able to stick through it and keep it hidden. And thankfully it wasn't achieved by anyone else within the time. This goes for any of the untieds we got, but considering how early this one was achieved, we were definitely worried about it.

This leads us to [k4] and the massive inspiration it was for all of us. We were worried at the time if maybe Infil 1:10 or S1 1:47 could be in the hoard as Ricky and Dusky are extremely good at strafe levels, and Wodahs being probably the best 2.X player in the world having achieved Depot 39, Archives 53s etc. None of our big hitter times were in the hoard so it didn't affect us that much. What certainly did affect us was the ridiculous production and effort that went into [k4], it elevated every expectation and made me at the time scared to follow up the movie. I loved so many parts about it, Dusky's silo agent edit with Half Life SFX which I briefly mentioned a few weeks prior in VC would be an awesome thing to see, actually was a thing. The amazing delivery of the intros, the skits, the music. In the VC version of the K4 video you can't hear me very much, I was too busy admiring the work that went into it, sometimes mentioning how I love the song choices. My main playlist nowadays contains so many songs which wouldn't be there if not for K4, including Bob Moses, Tame Impala, The Midnight and even Phil Collins made it back on my playlist.

Watching K4 honestly made me feel like a huge weight was put on my shoulders, a huge weight of trying to live up to the bar that K4 set. But in reality, K4 was the best kind of motivation we could've gotten. And me and BK took so much inspiration from K4 and expanded upon some of the ideas. One of the most noticeable ideas were the bumpers that K4 had, which we took and made into our own thing. The idea of coloring the tittle of the unhoard also goes all the way back to the Kapap series. We only achieved what we did because we were standing on the shoulders of giants.

Good ideas never comes from just one person.

Around the time after K4, Joey and Ace joined. Ace details how he got introduced in his post, so I wont say much more about that, but Joey got invited in a very strange and coincidental way. Joey achieved S2 A 46 the 21st of October but he had captured it on VHS unable to make a transferable file of it. This was because his capture equipment was broken somehow, and for some reason he had only talked to Irie and me about it. He did not know we were hoarding at the time, and it still amazes me to this day how he happened to talk to me before announcing it publicly. Knowing Joey's very unique skill for a player as new as him, I took a shot in the dark and invited him into the discord, not knowing too much about him as a person beforehand. Joey throughout the next months was one of the most active in the discord and a great companion posting tons of awesome music suggestions while playing for S2 SA 47(Thanks Harry for the SA tut). He eventually achieved it and started working S2 00 where he had some heartbreakers. He achieved a few 1:23s, and one run even had a missed warp. But finally he got the run you saw in the unhoard. A 2 second skip and untied. We were all extremely excited, but we still hadn't seen the run because they were all on VHS. This ended up resolving itself when Joey sent the VHS' to a video shop which captured them for him. Everyone was extremely excited when we finally got to see the runs in the discord, and we knew it would be a massive resource for the project. Grats again on surprising everyone Joey, you're a brilliant player.

Now to something less positive and my biggest regret of the unhoard. After Dr Light got his Attack Ship 2:09 I watched his music video and got really excited about the run. He used a song from an artist I really liked, and the run was one of the better ones at the time. I ended up accidentally posting in discord something like "Omg the dl as 209 video is so sick, i'm so excited". My excitement however turned to a massive disappointment when BK pinged me in the discord with the message "watch where you're posting". My heart dropped when I saw the post in the elite discord lobby. If it was my own time that I mentioned, I wouldn't have cared at all, but I mentioned the best time Dr Light had achieved. A few people saw it, Sharpeye, Pauli, xzc notably. Trying to fix it I quickly deleted the message. I don't blame him and it's old and irrel history at this point, but Sharpeye kept bringing it up in discord when all I even wanted was for this to go away. In the moment I PM'd Sharpeye "Can you stop being a cunt", and "You're being an asshole" or something of that nature. I thought I knew Sharpeye well enough to know his reaction as he's been around for a while and I've never had any issues with him in the past. I even considered him a good enough friend to suggest doing Diablo co-op speedruns with him for MOAMATHON. He however took offense to my messages, and kept mentioning it in lobby. PMing me stuff like "You dug your own grave son" while my heart-rate was sky rocketing. In the end to try and protect the secrecy I bowed down to Sharpeye apologizing and offering to come on voice and explain how I was in panic. He didn't accept my apology, and we haven't made up to this date. I didn't care so much about his opinion of me, but rather having to face Dr Light while Sharpeye was angry and sat on knowledge about his attack ship 2:09. Dr Light explains in his post how he reacted to all of it, and it was so hard sitting on my end of this. Not only had I disappointed a very good friend of mine, compromised the unhoard, angered someone who could escalate the matter ruining the project. Sharpeye ended up reporting me to the community guidelines so Spagooda got involved a bit and I had try and explain everything without exposing or escalating the matter. To sum up my feelings on it all, I straight up hated going through this period. While I haven't spoken with Sharpeye since, I'll give him credit he didn't do anything to compromise the hoard after.

Edit: Sharpeye sent me a message and it's all good now.

Moving on, Dr Light eventually rejoined the discord. While he was gone I felt horrible and actually pitched the idea for using Hacchu (The korean streamer) in his intro and the Dr Dre track. I'm amazed this made it all the way to the end, and BK did a great job including the SSBM clips from Dr Light. Around this time Ace finally stopped playing for Frigate and Cradle and went on the insane tear in Perfect Dark. At the time it reminded me of the time in early 2019 where he untied several levels. What a fantastic player and it really pushed us all to play and achieve great times. December the 5th stands out as a crazy date where Bunker 2 A 23 from Calle, Surface 2 00 1:21 and Villa PA 1:22 was all achieved within a very short timeframe. I brough my N64 home together with my monitor and played Silo during Christmas. I had a bunch of runs with potential for 123-124, but the level just wouldn't give me a break. My end time a 126 could've been 124 if I didn't miss the warp. But considering I didn't have many PRs, and it being a Joris tie, I put it in and me and Dr Light found Cascade one day on VC which ended up being the song choice. I very much appreciated how everyone liked this song.

The best day for the unhoard.

December we started working on the intro and started planning skits. At the time we didn't know quite how long the video would be, so we planned for skits that potentially could've filled upwards of 20 minutes. Dr Light was thinking about doing a Infil SA skit where he does house work during the intro, BK was thinking about making a :Bisquick: emoji in real life and a few other things. The Ace intro was also planned around this time I believe. It was the combination of ideas from different people and a joy to be a part of. In January I printed Ace's business card and filmed some of clips I thought would fit from a description given by Ace. I was really happy about the end result. I filmed everything myself except for the one clip where I dial Ace's 0137-ACECORP number, where my new roommate filmed using his phone. It was quite challenging getting good pictures because the lighting in my room were really bad. In the end after multiple takes we managed to get clips that were good enough. Ace's section is one of my favorite things I've ever watched online, and seeing peoples reaction to it was a blast.

The last week before the deadline we set I was talking to Ricky about me being slightly let down over my own times. He then emphasized that quality over quantity is the way to go. So I went back to Dam 00 where my PB were an unposted 1:58 I achieved sometime late 2019. I achieved my 1:57 with Joey watching through discord live and while I had plenty of runs with 1:56 potential, I have never been more satisfied with a PB. Getting this 1:57 was also the best choice for the unhoard, and the one I've gotten the most attention from. Goose congratulated me on it, Irie had a great reaction to it on his stream and the run shows serious 1:56 or 1:55 potential. The time loss from the bug area alone was easily over a second. Just to briefly mention my Control time, it was a skip from 4:10 and I think it's pretty good for the strats and bad guard luck I had in the opening. I'll come back and improve it though.

Who is the odd one out?

I briefly want to mention the part where Dusky was accidentally invited into our discord by Ace, and want to draw a parallel to my incident with Sharpeye. Ace felt extremely bad after what had happened and said he had to step out from work to get back in a good state of mind. This reminded me too much about what had happened to me, so I tried reassuring Ace that it didn't matter and the times will speak for themselves. Me, Dusky, and Dr Light spoke about the incident after and I'm happy we're all friends afterwards.

Thanks everyone who tuned in, and thanks to Harry and Ricky for hosting the video.

To the others in the unhoard

BK: We fucking did it, I don't think we could've done this better. The end product is everything we could have imagined back in summer of 2019. This goes for everyone else as well, but especially BK as we were PMing quite often since Century Club about doing it again but better.

Dr Light: There since the very beginning as well, with all the bumps along the way with a bit of luck we pulled through and did something amazing. I'll repeat the message that got me in trouble earlier, your attack ship 209 with music is amazing, and it was surpassed by the 309 which uses my favorite song of the entire unhoard.

JD: Thanks for being there even though you initially said no to being in the unhoard due to being busy. I know you've had a ton of stuff to do the last half year, so it was great being able to include you in the way we did.

Joey: I think I've said what I wanted in the post, but you had my favorite run of the entire video. Congratulations on the untied, can't wait to see what you will get in the future.

Calle: I feel like we've become really good friends since the end of summer. Easily the most positive person in the discord and also the most hardworking. Congratulations on your first untied and your anomaly of a run S1 SA 1:46. What a fantastic way we could end the video because of you.

Kyto: I know you wanted to get more, but I'll have you know we've enjoyed having you around the whole time. Thanks for the entertaining streams throughout the year

Wouter: Me and Wouter chats every now and then in PMs, and I think you're by far the most approachable player from the early 00s. Your PB in P2020 was one of the most exciting parts and the unhoard wouldn't have been the same without you.

Ace: What a joy it has been to include you in this. Sometimes I hear people describe you as someone who can't be serious but this project proves everyone wrong. Ace was very excited to be a part of it from the very beginning and put a lot of time into both achieving times and doing an amazing job editing his video. I've rarely had the pleasure of interacting with someone as hardworking as Ace.

Easily the sickest unhoard yet. Calle's S1 1:46 is a speedrunning masterpiece. I think 1:47 is insane in its own right but 1:46 is just madness. One of the most beautiful runs ever. Of course outstanding untieds from Rayan (congrats on regaining champ!) and the S2 1:21 from Fernando blew me away. Those cameras, and especially the 3rd wtf :o :o Runway LTK 0:39 by DL was a cool surprise as well and probably an underrated run. What made this project so extraordinary was not only the aforementioned times but also the presence of Wouter Jansen. Great work guys! :)

Much like he aftermath of K4, I am still trying to process Project 2020.  Its still really difficult to find the words to describe it.  I think I speak for everyone here in saying that I thought this was going to be a small little one hour video with a few people involved, and not the video that we ended up watching.

It’s really inspiring that in the past few months we have had some amazing moments bringing the community together.  I think my favorite part of Project 2020 was the shock that everyone was in seeing the reveals of those involved.  Of course the times speak for themselves, but that 2.5 hours of all of us yelling, laughing, and cheering on I think eclipsed the whole hoard movie for me.

My favorite run was probably Joey’s Surface 2 00A.  Goes to show that anyone is capable of achieving something truly incredible.  Grats to Joey for this insane time.

Grats to Calle for Surface 1 dominance.  1000+ dupes of 147?!  Mad.

Ace is now forever a Pizza Mod nesquick

Gotta admit that I was shocked when Untieds started getting dropped 30 mins or so in to the presentation, had no idea how epic it was going to be.

Amazing work to all involved, loved the whole thing.

What was the date of achievement for Fernando's Surface 2 00A 1:21?

Maybe someday I will be able to summarize my thoughts more thoroughly on this hoard.  Indeed, it was truly remarkable.

Did anyone record a version of P2020 with the Twitch livechat playing beside it?

If not, I'll try to capture it tomorrow/soon.

The reactions of chat should be historically recorded alongside the original production.

Wow, it blows my mind looking back at when this started. It was actually 1 July 2019 when Yendis contacted me with a question if I had kept up with the unhoards, I replied about 2 days later on the 3rd, and got the invite to the discord on that day too.
I can't believe it's been nearly a full 7 months. Time really does fly. Everyone was understanding of my situation, I've been having difficulty trying to balance my life for a long time and still am. I was expecting not to get around to playing even with half a year to go.
This project was definitely the best motivation one could ask for, BK already had some amazing times early on, Calle was very promising, and when Ace joined, it really was so amazing and made me want to be part of this more and more to the point that I, about a week before release, got my playing corner 'cleaned' and got to work on my setup. I had to figure out several issues and had to go through several hoops before I got it all working again. I streamed quite a bit on discord live, I think Joey has been the one who has accompanied me the most, and his support felt good and motivating. I think I started trying S2 46 with his help and actually had a 46 fail, no clue how legit it was though. I tried some B1 16 and definitely got close to 17 again, but I think I'm still doing some parts wrong and mostly bleeding time at the end because I don't know how to handle 2.4 there. BK (defection 5) & Calle (caverns 101) have both helped teach me the new ways and watched and given me useful feedback. Also tried a little invest agent with help from JD. I mostly tried to do the Ace method of circling levels and getting a new PR (preferably WR) relatively sooner compared to sticking to 1 and preventing boredom from lack of diversity as well. Eventually I bounced back to cradle as I obviously knew the level from playing 00 and SA was still an obvious and easy one to get. I'm not sure how much time I spend on it in total before the final session, pretty sure it wasn't much at all, but the part I remember is that the session that I got it in, it took me 22 minutes. trev kills were coming easy to me in that period and the nade + A happened pretty fast too, and it was a nice run when it did. Again almost could have skipped to 33. I really still wanted to get a 33 for the release and mostly played agent for it, but for some reason trev kills weren't being good to me for 3+ hours. I started circling SA/00/A for 33, had a legit 33 fail with trev kill on agent, but no complete. Definitely will get these yet. I am happy to at least have a good PR to showcase and be part of this amazing hoard, just in time. :)

I would really like to play more this year, hoping I can find a better balance in life, and motivation from the community and WRs will go a long way :)

Some thoughts on everyone in order of appearance;

- JD; both times beat me

- Dr. Light; Really becoming a good runner. Great WAR! times, very good Attack Ship, and a nice Runway LTK, I like to see whenever anyone goes out there and works out/executes a new strat (even if it is applying strats and tech we already know from other difficulties), props for that :)

- Yendis; Becoming a promising player, I think you have it in you to get the WR or near on each of your times; especially rooting for you on your Dam 00 journey!

- BK; Really an amazing talent, Extraction 48 is already surprising to me, and then getting times like Infiltration 110 and Crash Site 114 is really moving a step beyond. Can't wait to see what else you'll come up with and definitely some juicy untieds  :azn:

- Me; I chose "I Get Around" as I have used it before for an IL video and I think it serves great as a nostalgic throwback for the co-eliters from the past. BK had made a mockup with the song and upon watching it I got the chills. Good times. :)

- Joey; Only played S2 and 100%'d it and then some! Really amazing run with the first shot hitting on 3rd cam with the new strat. Really works well with the song and intro skit too, very happy to see this 2s untied and have rewatched it multiple times
Also caked the runway 22s after, I think you still have a lot in store for us :D

- Ace; Always a treat. an insane treat this time. The untieds were dropping like flies Ha. 10 WRs with 8 untieds (albeit instantly back to 7) is simply just unheard of. We were being fed treats like a kid in a candy store. Super delicious. Also completely love the skits you've created, Ace. I think the whole skit with Yendis is my favorite, very well done by you both. <3

- Calle; Astonishingly good; times like s1 I couldn't even dream of. 146 is baffling. The master of lag, and I'm very excited to see what more you will bring to the table, I can only foresee great things to come!

Honorable mention: Kyto; I like silo and 102 beats my time :)

Thank you to everyone! <3

I don't even know where to begin with this post. Last summer I was in a pretty dark place and had a lot of personal/health issues that I didn't really know how to deal with. I was as far from running GoldenEye as one could be and everything was just kind of... bleak.

There weren't many people I really wanted to talk to, but despite this I tried to keep in contact with at least a few people. Yendis messaged me on Discord during summer, asking about RGB capture and whatnot. Eventually he asked me about my interest in hoarding, and like Yendis posted previously, I have had ideas for my own hoard for a while. I knew I wasn't able or really keen to play at the moment, but since I knew there was a hoard going on, I had to join. I couldn't miss out. I wanna thank my sister for pushing me to do this and actually try to achieve some great times.

In September, I went back to school and I wasn't feeling very good about it. However, I did better than I expected and I felt good enough to start playing GE again. My sessions started off quite short and focused. I obviously played S1 00 for a few weeks (with a 27 min break on Cradle 00) and I achieved 1:47 much quicker than I thought I would. I just felt an awesome wave of relief after seeing the time on screen. I waited for much longer than I usually do before revealing the time. The song chosen for the run synced up almost perfectly without cutting much of the footage. I just felt joy at this moment. Reactions on Discord were nuts. We all went crazy.

The run itself was very good, despite lacking three self-boosts (one missed and two of which were interrupted by KF7 boosts). This run had 1:46 potential, and I will probably return for it in the future. I gotta say I miss the 00 grind more than anything, and I think it has to do with me turning my life around a little bit. Very therapeutic grind and the support I got was amazing.

Moving forward, the obvious step was A/SA and ultimately the untied sweep. This was my main goal of the hoard, since I knew it was within my grasp. I got close to both 1:01 and 1:46 several times. I think I choked a 1:46 the same night I got 1:47. The grind was absolutely insane and I mostly played other level to take a break.

The "break levels":

Cradle 00 - 0:33 - 27 minutes, first kill in almost a year. I am more happy about this now than when I got it.

Caverns A - 1:01 - Took a 10 minute break from Cradle SA and caked it with a super troll run.

Cradle SA - 0:33 - Took me 122 kills and 50 nades, which is insanely troll. Made me appreciate S1 more. SA 34 took me way longer than 00 34, so I guess I had it coming.

Bunker 2 - 0:23 - My main side-goal of the hoard. I've gone for this on and off ever since I got a 23 tape shot fail in 2016. Very cool time and I got it with a very weird run.

Runway SA - 0:22 - Started playing this because of Timmy and the look-down strat.

Surface A - 0:46 - Just felt I could get this. Having JD and Joey in the hoard was very helpful for this. I was gonna get 47 on SA too, but the best runs I had were TWO failed ones with comms damage.

Between all of these times, I played a LOT of Surface 1. I got an absolutely insane run on Agent in December. I really thought it was good enough. 101.74 in real-time with 17 shots. The run was a full second faster than Yendis' 1:02. After this run I switched focus to SA. I started grinding harder than I have ever done before. Eventually every other completed run was 1:47. I tried a lot of different strats and it felt like I wrote "I figured it out" or "just found a new optimization" in Discord during every session. Some nights the Discord was filled with only me spamming about my runs and my ideas. It almost drove me insane, but I got great support all throughout.

During January, I was really busy with exams and moving back to my old apartment. The time started running out and I was really stressed about not having achieved my main goal. At this point, with two to three weeks left to go, I was still confident in BOTH 1:01 and 1:46. Ultimately, I chose to grind for 1:46. It didn't feel easier to achieve, but I considered the fact that I still had a few ideas I wanted to try on the level. About a week after moving, I was setting up a TV bench and it was the worst experience I've had putting a piece of furniture together. After getting halfway, I decided to stop for the day and sat down to play. During this session I was more focused than any other session I've had on SA. I sat and played for 13 hours straight.

At the 8 hour mark, the following conversation took place:

5 hours later, I finally got the run. I could not believe what I saw. Especially since I failed or didn't use some of the optimizations I had come up with. I knew the pace at the start was good enough for 145, but once I backed myself I thought it was over. I played it out, missed the bounce boost and even had a spare nade at the end. I could tell by the music that the run was around 147.1 and knowing that I had backed myself AND wasted two more self-boosts, I was sure it was another dupe. Let me just say I was VERY glad that it wasn't. Looking back at it, the run was saved by the insane start, low lag and a great communications tower.

This run, to me, shows that low lag is extremely important and it motivates me to try for another untied on 00. There isn't really much more I want to say about it until I do a proper analysis/tutorial. I am still very ecstatic to have achieved these records.

-------------------------------------------------------------

All of this would not have been possible without my fellow conspirators. I am so grateful to everyone involved.

Yendis - You brought me in to all of this, and I am so happy you did. Thank you for considering me for the hoard. I never really told you how bad my situation was since we didn't know each other that well, but I trusted you from early on. You have been such a good friend and I'm glad we've gotten closer. Despite being busy with school you still got crazy good times AND got around to filming skits etc. I was very impressed with your dedication and it motivated me to keep pushing. NORGE!

BK - bestKarl, my dude. Jolliest mate in the hoard. From day one you were a beacon of positivity and a driving force for the hoard. I loved discussing ideas, music and everything in-between with you. I am very happy to have gotten to know you better and I am still stoked you got so many insane times. Very inspirational and impressive work. You brought us all to another level. Also, thank you for all the hard work that went into the video itself. I am still very happy with how it all turned out.

Wouter - Legend. You have been such a vital part of this hoard. Always keeping track of improvements, giving advice and asking really good questions. You really pushed us all to go one step beyond. I love that you came in clutch with the Cradle run at the very end. It was so much fun watching you play and improve quickly. We've had some great conversations the last couple of months and I'm so glad that we did. You are and always will be an icon for The-Elite. Respect.

Kyto - Dude, I am so happy you finally got the 102 on Silo. It must've been hell keeping it a secret for so long and I bet you were itching to play for 101 on stream. I was also very keen about you clutching S1 102 on stream with one of the greatest reactions ever. You were always bringing the hype and positivity and I'm so happy you were a part of this. GGS only, kiitos! (VVVITTU!!!)

DrLight - My dawg, great sense of humor, great taste in music, great choice of Smash game. I feel like we had so much fun during this hoard and I'm glad we've become friends. You were always keening and pushing people to do their best. You also caked some absolute cooker times that was blown away by. The work you put in was extremely healthy. I wish we can meet up someday to play some Melee and just chill out.

JD - Man, you got some good times, dude. I loved having you in the hoard. You made PD sound very intriguing and I was always hyped about Invest. You are gonna get the untied soon, you are destined for it. I have loads of faith and I'm rooting for you. Thank you for being such a great spirit during the hoard and THANK YOU for all the tips on Runway and Surface 2.

Joey - Wow, you came in strong with your first WR and you just kept pushing. I keep thinking about December 5th and how it changed the hoard. You really went there, dude. Absolutely amazing untied. I have so much respect for you for going for gold right away. Pick a level and destroy it. I feel that mindset. I also feel we've become very good friends and I always love talking to you and hanging out in streams. We have much to discuss regarding innovation in GE in the future. You're a true talent, bro.

Ace - You are fucked in the head, mate. In the best of ways of course. I honestly can't believe how you were able to get so many insane times. Shoutouts to Frigate for being worst level in the game but somehow causing multiple untieds to happen. Extremely impressive work, and kudos to you for being so devoted to your section. It was absolutely amazing and I loved every second of it. Champion mentality all the way. #YMCA

Birdie - We miss you. <3

This experience really brought me back to GE and made me remember what is so great about playing - the community. I might not have ever played this game again if it weren't for you guys. The game is not important, but the fact that we compete and play together is. Seeing all my friends achieving insane time after insane time and celebrating them together meant so much more than the records themselves. The fact that this community has survived for over 20 years is astonishing and I'm proud to be a part of it. 2020 has only just begun and there are already several new untieds on both rankings. This means that there is still work to be done and I believe we have some great moments ahead of us. Thank you all so much for everything! Let's do it again sometime!
