Title: ThaRixer's Top 35 Hoard Runs
Post by: tharixer on April 04, 2020, 01:33:22 pm
My personal list on my favourite runs presented in any hoard. I'm obviously biased with being in k4 and having edited a decent amount of stuff for it. I've decided to leave myself out but everyone else in k4 is still valid for this list. I made the effort of only allowing 2 runs per hoard from a single person. This means someone that has been in multiple hoards can be on the list more than twice, but the runs won't be taken from the same hoard. This is my personal thanks to everyone that has brought forth these great videos and have inspired me to push to be a better player.

Most of the runs listed is for presentation alone. What i factor the most is the song and edits fitting the run. It's very easy to just slap a song over a run and call it a music video, but some people are delicate with it. Some smaller factors for me is, how good the run is compared to the players skill level at the time, and if the run was unexpected or a shocker. This is my list of the 35 best instances of what i wrote above. Hope you enjoy the read.

35. Jakob Birkenes - Facility 00 Agent 0:53 - Project 2020

Funny enough, this idea of using Night of fire over multiple runs was a super early k4 idea we had. I was going to make something called "The explosive segment" consisting of Runway SA 22, Infil 111 and Chicago PA 26 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SCle393uvI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SCle393uvI) but it was ultimately scrapped for the better. You guys pulled it off well.

34. BK - Infiltration Agent 1:10 - Project 2020

Very great song and was the run that opened the gates for everyone else to tie 1:10. Great closer to BKs segment

33. Dan Parker - Bunker 1 Secret Agent 0:21 - Kapap 3

Swisses Bunker 1 runs in Kapap 3 were amazing. One of the songs that got me interested in Tame Impala to begin with thanks to swiss. Great ending with the paper mario jim bop

32. Pauliwood - Villa Agent 1:10 - Part 11

This song just slaps straight up. Probably the best song off the Gold N Fly soundtrack. I thoroughly enjoyed this run

31. Sam Rodrigues - Egypt Agent 0:46 - Kapap 3

The baron

30. JDBlack21 - Air Base Agent 1:16 - Century Club

One of my favourite song from Century Club, and a really smooth opener for JD

29. Dr. Light - Attack Ship Perfect Agent 3:09 - Project 2020

That violin got me feelin different. Such a great run and time. It's nice that we get to hear the whole song as well.

28. Luke Szklarz - Jungle Secret Agent 0:53 - Kapap 3

Still one of the most bold self boosts ever. Love the Kendrick song, the tension and feel of this run

27. Kev B - Defense Perfect Agent 1:35 - PD

Great song, fits so well with the combat boost. I love the reaction in the firing range. The song also ends perfectly once the run is over, well done all around.

26. Charlie Yeudall - Frigate LTK 1:15 - [k4]

Something about the sax in the song gives this run it's special flavor. Pretty historic run as well, slaying the longest LTK untied of all time.

25. Jonathan Hauptman - Frigate Secret Agent - 0:59 - [k4]

I had the pleasure of editing this one. The further into the edit i got the better the song got honestly. Great song, run and closer to Frosts segment.

24. Rayan I. - Runway Secret Agent 0:22 - Project 2020

This run is my favourite because of the suspense during the actual unhoard itself. You're sitting there asking yourself if it really could be Ace, with YMCA playing and everything. Love this run

23. DuskyLW - Investigation Agent 1:04 - [k4]

Our beloved opener. The music sync when the lazer skip is being performed is seriously one of the best music syncs ever.

22. Luke Szklarz - Train Agent 0:59 - Kapap 2

I'd say it's about a 9/10 cooked.

21. Carl-Magnus Wall - Surface 1 Secret Agent 1:46 - Project 2020

The run and edit really hit home for a closer. Love every bit about the song.

20. Joris Quevedo - Bunker 1 Agent 0:16 - [k4]

The buildup to the 2.x strat is just legendary. The confusion running around peoples heads were so crazy during the reveal. We still need clemens to eat that battery.

19. Hayden King - Jungle Agent 0:50 - [k4]

The VCR being popped in and everyone being in complete disbelief that it says haydos on it is one of my favourite moments in voice chat during the k4 reveal. I really like the song as well, it grew on me exponentially.

18. Swiss - G5 Building Special Agent 0:39 - Kapap 2

The run that houses one of the most memorable skits of all time, with the g5 cutscene. The justin timberlake song grew on me months and months after i watched Kapap 2 for the first time but was a great pick

17. Pauliwood - Attack Ship Special Agent 2:39 - PD

My top song of PD alone, and was the song that got me to listen to 2 full T.I albums. It's funny looking back at this run because at the time i thought pauli was so insanely good but he's far better than what this run suggests. When you know you know but also when you grow you grow.

16. Joris Quevedo - Caverns 00 Agent 1:33 - [k4]

Such a great intro, and what a chaotic run to start with from Joris

15. JDBlack21 - Duel Perfect Agent 0:09 - Century Club

Do i even need to say anything about this

14. Jonathan Hotinski - Surface 2 00 Agent 1:27 - Kapap 3

The tension the song is building is so great for this run. It's that feeling you have in your gut that Jono is about to present a run that's better than what most people would expect. The swirling cursor on the end screen is so satisfying to the song

13. Flickerform - Crash Site Perfect Agent 1:40 - PD

Such a satisfying closer. Just felt so fullfilling to watch flicker get his first untied to a sick song. Flicker had a neat trick to only use canadian artists for his songs in the hoard. Pretty unique

12. Daniel Coelho - Silo 00 Agent 1:24 - [k4]

Seriously one of the hardest bangers ever for a hoard. I remember vividly being in vc and 1 second before the drop was happening i just said "lets go" because i knew everyone was gonna love it. So many insane parts in this run, i remember a very specific pp7 headshot on one of the early crate guards. Love this run.

11. Luke Szklarz - Aztec 00 Agent 1:35 - Kapap 3

The song presents a complete emotional rollercoaster. You have no idea what the time could be, if he even lives, if he chokes. You just never know. The fact that Luke sits on the end screen for a couple of seconds is just.. perfect. One of the best ways you could close a hoard out, period.

10. Greenounet - Maian SOS Agent 1:36 - Kapap 2

Our first entry into top 10 could be introduced by simply watching the intro to this run. Using footage from other levels regarding elvis, putting them in reverse to indicate that elvis is waking up in the bed, and then the Maian SOS run starts. Legendary

9. Jonathan Hotinski - Silo Secret Agent 1:08 - Kapap 3

When you thought 1:09 was jonos true max, he brings forth this insane run that shocked everyone. The song is also just perfectly angelic to the chaos that is silo.

8. Daniel Coelho - Caverns Secret Agent 1:12 - [k4]

I remember when wodahs got this time i woke up, looked at my phone, saw the post and just slammed my bed and yelled YES, cause i knew right then and there that the hoard was complete. The song on this run, is phenominal, and the shots of the scenery that wodahs avatar is based off of is great as well.

7. Jonathan Hauptman - Dam Secret Agent 1:18 - [k4]

I was seriously getting chills from editing this one together. Everything just fit so well. The music queues, the vaporwave effects, it's just one of the most unique showcases in a hoard. Of course i am biased but i am very thankful frost let me edit this for him. The song doesn't just end at Dam SA 1:18 but leads into a Cradle 0:33 with a different music drop as well.

6. Phillip Bezgubov - Statue Agent 2:19 - Kapap

This run holds legendary status as the first ever run to be presented in a hoard like fashion. The song he chose to lead with is rated as my #2 song of the 2010-2019 decade. Statue Agent 2:19 is still a great time today, and is still in my opinion the best run of the first Kapap. Phil definitely left a legacy behind, and this run is one of his peaks.

5. MW - Defection Perfect Agent 1:21 - PD

The first time i heard Daft Punk - Discovery i must not have been listening very carefully, because this song went right over my head and i didn't even realize it was Daft Punk. Once i gave the song and album a relisten it stuck like glue, and this run is the reason why. Everything about it is just great. While waiting for the programmer speeches you get to see the quick TWINE Courier 9 WR Sweep which is funny, and the end screen drop with the flashing text is SO satisfying.

4. Jakob Birkenes - Facility Secret Agent 0:53 - Century Club

The most blowout and unexpected time from a completely new player at the time, put behind the most underrated track ever. I straight up listened to Fabolous - Breathe on loop after the hoard was done. Yendis' facility skills went on display here.

3. Greenounet - Defense Special Agent 1:24 - Kapap 2

Right after the legendary Maian SOS Agent 1:36 intro, we are presented with this run. I cannot describe HOW well the slow violin of The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony fits this run. The combat boosted segmented during this run along with the absolute beauty of the song makes this run incredibly special and memorable for me. If i could pick more Green Kapap 2 runs, i would.

2. Flickerform - Deep Sea Perfect Agent 3:05 - PD

This run blew me away. I can say for certainty that i wasn't the only person who all of the sudden had a new song in their playlist. This type of genre is also not one that many eliters listen to, but this sure raised some eyebrows. The song fits the run perfectly. Like.. perfectly. I couldn't believe when i saw 3:05. Flicker really outdid himself and in my opinion was the star of PD. One of the best segments in any hoard was flickers and this run was the best for sure. Great run

And finally...

1. Greenounet - Extraction Special Agent 1:18 - Kapap 3

Fine.. One more green run. This run was a shocker. His posted PB at the time was 1:23, and 1:18 was one of the strongest and longest standing records in the game. Green completely outdid himself, tying the recording set by clemens ages ago, and would later go on to untie it with 1:17. The song is ascended tier. The drop during this track gets you so insanely pumped, you wanna see green mess up the guards so bad. This run paved the way for everyone elses music choices on Extraction. It's not uncommon to put a hype techno track over your Extraction runs now, and it's all thanks to Green with this run. It's my favourite for sure. I've watched it countless times and it doesn't get old.

Thanks for reading!
