Hello all
I just signed up to this forum after finding the Goldeneye Elite website.
I bought an N64 in 1998 and played Goldeneye 95% of the time.
The only reason I joined the forum is to say... Holy SHITE!!
I thought I was good at Goldeneye. I used to be faster than all my mates and very rarely lose in Multiplayer etc etc. But the WR times on this website are ridiculous. I don’t even want to post my best times on here as it would be embarrassing.
Back in the day there was an N64 magazine in the UK and I used to see facility 00 times... I used to think under 1 minute was impossible. There was always a guy at the top of all the times... a Dutch lad maybe?? And now the amount of tricks, time saves etc is mind blowing.
Anyway fair play to anyone that is within 10 seconds of some of these WR's as it must take serious hours playing!!!
I notice a lot of times are on Japanese consoles. So I assume they must provide quicker times. Can anyone explain that to me?
Anyway. Great to be here!
I am now about to be the first person to do Dam in 51 seconds. On my first try. Ha

I can imagine your shock looking at the WRs, they are all 20 years in the making and have collectively hundreds of thousands of hours put into them. But I can also say that this community is always willing to help newcomers rise up the rankings and achieve some of these times. I would definitely recommend the playlist Flechr posted above, as it gives a good introduction to the Elite, how to get easy points, etc.
And yes, Japenese consoles, while they technically aren't faster, do provide some advantages on some levels, most notably Caverns 00a. You probably know that on English carts, there's no BA on the level at all. But for some reason, they left these body armors in on the Japanese version, making the level much, much easier to survive. This applies to all the 00a levels actually, making a playthrough or speedrun of the 00a levels much easier on that version.

I deserve that though, I am so far behind the times on this website!
A lot of times I have done I was sure could not be done faster!!!!
