As someone who makes videos myself i made a collage recent of certain videos i was inspired by.

1. Nexpo - LOCAL58: The Broadcast Station that Manipulates You
Horror Channel with Creepy stories. Really neat if you can get into the mood and narration

2. TheGamingBritShow - The Silent Hill 2 Analysis
One of the absolute best critics on gaming in general. His opinion always has insane example and support backing it and it's enticing to hear all throughout. This Silent Hill 2 video is his magnum opus imo.

3. LeMMiNO - Grazed by the Apocalypse
A video about how the human race has come so close to wiping itself out multiple times in history but somehow by a miracle we're all here still. Lemmino has been one of if not my favourite youtuber since 2016

4. Cinemassacre - Earthbound (SNES) - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)
AVGN is literally so rewatchable. Nostalgic game reviews of bad games from the 80s and 90s, occasionally the 2000s.

5. EmpLemon - there will Never Ever be another driver like Dale Earnhardt
Maybe my new favourite youtuber, i can watch just about whatever he makes. Check out his last like 10 videos you won't regret it. Especially the dale earnhardt video.

6. Frederik Knudsen - TempleOS | Down the Rabbit Hole
Down the rabbit hole is a series about people just going down a spiral and it's a treat to see. Frederik narrates stuff

7. Summoning Salt - The Quest to Beat Matt Turk
WR Progressions

8. RWhiteGoose -  World Record Progression: 1080 Snowboarding - Deadly Fall
None of you know of this channel so no point in recommending

9. NakeyJakey - Esports
Genuine fun and nostalgic "90s kids" videos. Will make a video about speedrunning some day

Great topic idea, I've toyed with making a similar topic a number of times.  So I certainly have a few videos to chime in with.

Kento Bento:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLOwKVD0bYHxaDZxXkK4piw/videos

Obviously I haven't watched every YouTube channel, and I'm sure there are a ton of great ones I haven't watched yet. But from what I've seen, I find this guy to be the absolute best storyteller on all of YouTube.  He makes general information videos or story videos, which have at least some connection to Asian history or lore.  "The Incredible Japanese Prison Break" in particular is just an incredible blend of history and folklore, and genuinely STUNNED me like a prime M. Night Shyamalan twist by the end of it.

LINK:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI8trlbCbU8

I highly recommend this 25 minute video if you're looking for something to watch tonight.  It became his most viewed video at 15M views, and is well deserving.  He's really slowed his pace of video making lately, so the hope is out there that he's working on an absolute banger next.  I know he had issues with people just plagiarizing the video in other languages, which is a problem YouTube will continue to face over the next little while I'm sure, so who knows.

-------

Lemmino

https://www.youtube.com/user/Top10Memes

Of course Lemmino has already been posted.  I agree with Ricky.  "Grazed by the Apocalypse" is one of the very best videos on all of YouTube.  But in my opinion he surpassed even that one with "The Search for DB Cooper".

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbUjuwhQPKs

It's a story I knew well, but he puts everything together masterfully.  His "speculation" as to who DB Cooper may have been, or what his fate may have become just kept blowing me away.

Also, Lemmino's look into "The Universal S" is probably the most well researched YouTube video I've ever seen.  How he was able to find just so much information about this nebulous meme-letter is a testament to his research skills.  I wish I were that good at researching and digging up arcane information.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQdxHi4_Pvc

When you consider he used to make "Top 10 Meme" content and has since become one of the great researchers & storytellers on all of YouTube, it really shows you what you are capable of becoming, should you put in the work and effort.

-------

Barely Sociable

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9PIn6-XuRKZ5HmYeu46AIw/videos

A good bloke whose channel I discovered when he had around 1000 subs just last year.  He makes some high effort looks into strange or unsolved internet mysteries & niche stories.  Another very, very good researcher.  His video about "Lake City Quiet Pills" was fascinating, and the one which made his channel blow up at first.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF0dCNxfYHk

He's gotten a lot of heat recently for looking into the creator of Bitcoin.  He got a lot of people on crypto Twitter pretty upset, leading some to believe that he actually figured it out.  But who knows.

-------

Fredrik Knudsen (Down the Rabbit Hole)

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbWcXB0PoqOsAvAdfzWMf0w

His video about WingsOfRedemption is an absolute masterpiece.  There's one scene in particular, which is truly inspiring in terms of video making, re-telling the story of a particular infamous gaming moment in the career of Wings.  The way Fredrik manages to make it feel as though you watched this specific moment, despite not seeing the actual gameplay, is amazing.  And the way notorious internet characters like Keemstar and Syndicate are weaved into the story, is incredible, and taught me a lot of backstory on those guys, particularly Syndicate, which I never knew before.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNHbm7GBHwg

I still haven't gotten around to watching the TempleOS one, but I will someday.  I just hope that I never get quite notorious enough or have enough of a downwards spiral to "earn" a Knudsen video maybe about me tbh.

------

Some other quick hits which I regularly watch.

Wendover Productions (https://www.youtube.com/user/Wendoverproductions) - Geography, industry, logistics.  His videos about submarines & airline class particularly stick out.  This one about Canada's northwest passage was really good too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcDwtO4RWmo

Half as Interesting (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuCkxoKLYO_EQ2GeFtbM_bw) - Wendover's second channel with shorter, less serious topics.

Atlas Pro (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz1oFxMrgrQ82-276UCOU9w) - This guy's channel blew up within the past year, mostly geography/geology/anthropology type videos.  A lot of topics that similar channels just don't quite dig into, like ice ages and Antarctica.

Cold Fusion (https://www.youtube.com/user/coldfustion) - Somewhere in between Wendover & Company Man, videos about companies, technologies, business, etc.

Sam O'Nella Academy (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1DTYW241WD64ah5BFWn4JA/videos) - He hasn't posted in months, but it's a more lighthearted/silly look at interesting history topics.

Historia Civilis (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_vLHiWVBh_FR9vbeuiY-A) - Amazing videos recounting Roman battles & conquests, and other history.  I got Streets 00A 1:54 while binging this channel, so it has a special place in my heart.

Dr. Todd Grande (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC_0vyFTKk1Nlodo4QsiQkw) - A mental health counselor who has many different types of videos, but lately gives insight into infamous people in recent history, like cult leaders or criminals.  Very concise storyteller and interesting analysis.  I binged a lot of his stuff while playing Mario Golf a couple weeks ago.

That Chapter (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL44k-cLrlsdr7PYuMU4yIw) - True Crime channel I got recommended after watching enough Dr. Grande.  Very good on-camera storyteller, well constructed videos with twists & turns as the cases go.  Some of the stories are pretty morbid so it's not for everyone.

Canam Missing Project (https://www.youtube.com/user/canammissingproject) - David Paulides has been a well known missing-persons investigator over the recent years, with a number of books about unexplained cases in national parks & forests, and later, urban areas as well.  Only recently has he gotten around to making regular YouTube content, so it's interesting to hear his stories, survival tips and whatnot.

Rusty West (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqikf1CHNdVK1A5-8pQYGhA) - Smaller channel with a unique vibe, mostly retelling some specific stories of missing people or strange occurrences in forests & national parks.

Alt Shift X (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCveZqqGewoyPiacooywP5Ig) - Lately he does Westworld breakdown & analysis, but his Game of Thrones videos were amazing.  The ASoiF world fan theories and analysis is so detailed, niche and nerdy, I love hearing about it.  The crazy stories about the old Lannister Valyrian steel sword, Brightroar; the strange black, oily stones on Sorthyros; the mystery surrounding Euron Greyjoy, the wall, or settlements in the far east... Even though I never read the books, the info from his channel made me feel as though I had.

Top5s (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTop5ss/videos) - Mysteries, scary stories, creepypasta, etc.  I might only watch every 5th video these days, but he's an OG channel I've followed since like 2014, and it's impressive that he's still going strong, despite this content getting cracked down on & demonetized over the years.

Cold Case Detective (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdjslyNQupPSFxK_mSPcG-g) - Top5s' spinoff true crime channel, with some interesting stories & cases too. Though it seems they're even spinning it mostly into a podcast these days, likely due to YouTube demonetization.

Geography Now! (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmmPgObSUPw1HL2lq6H4ffA) - Weekly looks at every country in the world, in alphabetical order having started with A- years ago, and is now on the letter S-.  Mostly just posting to remind myself to catch up on the recent handful of videos.

Agenda Free TV (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCshCsg1YVKli8yBai-wa78w) - The best way to keep up with the news.  Lookner covers stories that mainstream news channels often don't.  There's just nowhere else you can go these days to get live coverage on things like the Thai cave rescue, various earthquakes, or ongoing military conflicts across the world.  He's often covering a major breaking news event several hours or days before the mainstream media.  I watched tons of his Coronavirus coverage dating back to mid-January, when it'd still be another 6-8 weeks before it'd become a global story.  A true legend and the future of news in the online age.  At least I hope so.

If you enjoy Game of Thrones content, I'll recommend my favorite GoT Youtuber (who, incidentally, also now does Westworld videos), Preston Jacobs (https://www.youtube.com/c/PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin/videos). He does a lot of book deep dives and reviews of the episodes. He also did an amazing series where he re-wrote seasons 7 and 8 to fix them. The story he writes is so much better than the real show that it's worth a watch.

https://www.youtube.com/c/SkaTuneNetwork

Ska tune network is a great YouTube channel taking a bunch of songs and turning them into ska songs. He plays a whole bunch of instruments and in the videos it has cuts of him playing every instrument on the song individually, apart from the drums. He can play guitar/base, a bunch of horns and sing which is very impressive. You can tell ska tune network is a play on cartoon network, he does covers of cartoon songs, video game OST and well known artists so as long as you enjoy the sound of ska he's got something for you!

Agenda Free TV (https://www.youtube.com/c/AgendaFreeTV/videos) - world news hosted by Steve Lookner
Lookner (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClJtyMSnpVHyNpmqc2WJjVQ/videos) - Lookner's side channel which is less formal but just as entertaining.
bald and bankrupt (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxDZs_ltFFvn0FDHT6kmoXA/videos) - vlogger who travels around the world
Top15s (https://www.youtube.com/c/Top15s/videos) - talks over videos that are mysterious in nature.
Computerphile (https://www.youtube.com/user/Computerphile) - videos about computer science
Numberphile (https://www.youtube.com/user/numberphile) - videos about math

Gus Johnson: Hands down best sketch comedian on youtube.

Wavetro:  Pretty unknown channel, but very unique animation style complimenting sketch comedy

Jon Bois: Insane videos, tells stories about sports from an unusual but captivating point of view

EmpLemon: Slowly but surely becoming one of the best YouTubers of all time. The range of his videos and the quality put into all of them is just insane, and he is still relatively starting his youtube career, so who knows what's next for him

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV5mGxp-rtsGDAedDYnp7hA (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV5mGxp-rtsGDAedDYnp7hA) OffTheRanch. The Vlog channel of Matt Carriker. He has Demolition Ranch probably the biggest active gun You Tube channel. His vlog channel is super interesting. He has so many different projects going at once. Just seems like a really motivated dude. He's currently renovating an abandon mansion that he plans to move into.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBIObHID9vYsowPtbYKVdMw (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBIObHID9vYsowPtbYKVdMw) Become The Knight. He was also featured in the 2019 shred colab the Jarred Dines does. Smart man, with a super sweet voice.

I've been enjoying these recommendations, some were already on my list so I won't double up. Here's some of mine;

Linday Ellis (https://www.youtube.com/user/chezapoctube) - video essays, normally on movies but sometimes other stuff. Always an interesting take that makes me think about something from a new angle
Jeremy Parish (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrIttXi0WgLXHI1poCk0D6g) - Chronologically reviewing NES, SNES, GameBoy and N64 games, along with some others. These aren't your regular good/bad video game reviews though, they are extensively researched and provide some incredible context about where each game fits in to the development of the genre/console.
My Life in Gaming (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpvtp7mH0Cdq8FQUxcjDq0Q) - These guys have some impressive production value for 'just a YouTube channel'. Their RGB masterclass was/is great for tech nerds, and they've just released a second installment in a documentary style series that is looking pretty good - Analog Frontiers.
Nat's What I Reckon (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEFW1E8QzP-hKxjO2Rj68wg) - Hilarious iso cooking escapades
kaptainkristian (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuPgdqQKpq4T4zeqmTelnFg) - channel looks to be dead these days, but some really interesting stuff on comics and anime
Strafefox (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtt_NEKZ4MoH4O7BT3SbXTA) - super high quality video game development stuff

Just realised how dude-heavy my YT is, not many women making it in my recommendation feed.

Ryan discusses a lot of different horror movies and really dissects each one fully.  Some of this titles and thumbnails are a little clicky, but the content is very interesting.  The best episodes are when we discusses a film that’s a sequel in a long film series.  Other times, he will discuss foreign horror movies or some pretty niche ones.  He’s also experiment with horror stories and games too.

JCS is probably one of the best channels right now.  Mixing interrogation footage with a deep knowledge of criminal psychology and psychological tactics along side masterful narration make each story riveting.  Some videos do have more interrogation footage than others, but that somehow adds to the fascination of each episode.

Starting off as a thought experiment aimed at  creating a theme park of lost and forgotten rides, Defunctland eventually dropped that  premise and now just talks about the history of theme park rides, attractions, and sometimes the parks themselves.  A majority of the videos do discuss Disney missteps and blunders, but that’s not to say there isn’t a selection of those from other parks as well.  If you grew up knowing these rides, there’s a huge sense of nostalgia.  Recently, a splinter series has started discussing canceled long running television shows.

I mentioned this channel on Cal's MateChat last night: https://www.youtube.com/c/CultTennis/videos

Up and coming channel, making videos about TENNIS, similar to those which you might already watch about speedrunning.  Only 26k subs, but has the quality of a 100k+ channel.

This vid was particularly great, about the 2004 Men's French Open Final ("biggest choke in modern tennis history"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyEUMWMCI0U

You may even have seen this channel in your feed earlier this year, as a video about "Blue Clay" hit recommended to many sports fans, racking up over 3M views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IihBn_3LYXk

A few channels I love that haven't been mentioned already:
ModernVintageGamer - makes videos on retro and arcade gaming, focusing on hardware, security, homebrew etc. Great quality informative content on niche things other channels don't really talk about.

ibx2cat - Second channel of minecraft youtuber ibxtoycat. If you'd like to learn about history, geography and global politics definitely check out his channel - he's someone who's very genuinely interested in these topics outside of his personal opinions, and his videos are written in a completely neutral, unbiased and not at all obnoxious way. I really like his demeanor and the way he explains things. One of very few youtubers that can talk about politics without inserting his own opinions. Probably my favorite channel on the site.

Kilian Experience - funny gaming vids

Ashens - funny videos reviewing random cheap tat

BG Kumbi - youtube legend

ilmango - Technical minecraft youtuber and Scicraft member (owner?). Makes videos about advanced minecraft farms, contraptions, redstone, mechanics etc. From this technical approach, minecraft essentially becomes Engineering: The Game. If you like minecraft and aren't familiar with Scicraft, do check out 'SciCraft Presents: How Automation Can Enrich Your Game Experience' - it might blow your mind.

Alex Stubbings - sexy and cool Perfect Dark player who uploads his epic PBs and awesome clips. Definitely sub to this guy.
