Hello,
This is probably irrelevant and inconsequential, but I noticed that for all the times posted by Mark Briggs 'Greatmax', the videos linked to them don't accord remotely with the claimed time or even best time (some are literally minutes off).

As none of these are worth points (hence this probably being irrelevant and inconsequential), this is not a problem.
Basically, I just find it intriguing as to what happens when someone claims a time that doesn't even need proof but then posts a video that contradicts their time? I'm guessing the answer is 'nothing'.
This was probably wholly irrelevant. Sorry if I wasted your time.
Thanks
Will

I noticed this as well about a year ago. When I first started playing, I progressed by trying easier, less risky strats first and then used more and more advanced strats as I lowered my times. In order to learn new ideas and progress incrementally I used to watch a lot of people's runs that were faster than me, but nowhere near getting points. Whenever I watched Mark Briggs' runs they were always way slower than the posted time.
As a newer player it was certainly frustrating because I was fighting for every ranking spot I could, trying to inch closer to getting my first points. But like you said, he doesn't have any points himself so it's not really a big deal. Also he's an older player and proof policies back in the day seemed to be a lot more lax due to the state of technology and the number of people with capture cards. I think it was pretty common to just have to prove you had the skill to get near a time in order to claim it because people weren't recording 100% of the time. Though some of his times are much farther off than would be considered reasonable.
I still don't have many points and he's ahead of me on like 15 stages, but in the end I decided it wasn't that big of a deal and I've just been systematically trying to pass him on every level for the past few months so that his possibly phony times don't affect me anymore.

Yeah, it's not a huge point of contention. I'm sure people will just move on and focus on improving their own game rather than complain about someone else's.
The only issue it does present is where a player with literally 0 proven times (and in Briggs' case, I think his videos demonstrate he didn't posses sufficient skill to prove his claims) are ranked joint last on the points rankings but rank fairly highly by time, outranking veteran players like David Gibbons and Mike Martin.
Similar case is Denis Akel:

Literally no videos, top 150 rank for times.

Denis Akel is one of our brazilian mates who admitted faking times back in 2003 or so. I think I already notified some admins about this but we didn't do anything about it.

Mark Briggs is ranked 11th in GE LTK, and most of his LTK vids are clearly not the posted times. His Fac DLTK "3:16" is at least a 3:22.

Look, Greatmax's timespages are a relic of the days where you could claim a time and provide a video of a slower run as "proof of concept"
All times that were clearly not matching video and time posted in LTK were corrected as you can see his vids with slower times than claimed are linked in the comments. I'm pretty sure I asked the GE proof mod to clean up his normal timespage too. It's not really causing a problem, though, except that this has been brought up multiple times, but even after cleanup I expect it to still get brought up by the ones who look closely at pointless times.
I'm going to lock the thread you can PM me if you have a problem with that.
