We're making a wiki! The idea has been around a while but has crystalised in this originally meme thread (https://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=23778.msg467874#msg467874).
It's full of lots of good posts such as those of SammyLiimex and Watertemple there, and more and more wiki discussion as you go on.
As I set out in the thread, I don't expect a vast army of heavily involved editors, but this is the-elite's wiki for all players of all abilities.
You are welcome to post ideas for content here regardless of how involved you intend to be in creating / editing the wiki.
Please do seperate this from stylistic / layout ideas which belong in the other thread (https://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=23787.0).

I'll start :nesquik:
- Large top down maps of levels with annotations i.e. named guards, patrol routes. Partly I think I'm drawing on the RS wiki memories after bringing that up in the other topic, and partly I'm in a good position to create these after I did it for part of B1 (https://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=18518.msg466883#msg466883). What was annotated over it could vary: Around the statue could be the circles you've got to get / stay with in. Named guards could have labels. In some places the navigation graph is very important. The control room could probably have the areas that Nat will spin on. Et cetera!
- Detail on nade odds for the cradle strat. Mentioned by mw in #lobby, this is likely a request to myself to do more digging around what controls this, but I suspect level experts already know a lot about maximising your success odds
- TASes incorporated in some way. No need for it to become the TAS WR page though. And older TASes like the B1 SA grenade route are still very relevant for realising (out there) strat ideas
- Edit: Henrik's lua map being used to explain strats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4ZNCrHcAkQ). This could be a common thing wherever it added value.
From Henrik in the original thread:
Also a bit off-topic, but one cool feature for the future might be a discord command to quickly access facts like:
!fact ge streets odds
!fact ge guards death animations
!fact ge quickpause
Either directly displaying the info or perhaps more realistically linking to the right place in the wiki.
-
Brain dump of random facts I've wanted and couldn't find easily
-English versions of all menus (objectives, pause menu, cheats....)
-Which guards have BA
-Weapon firing rates
...apparently that's it, for the moment

I think its important for the wiki to include information on not just the newest, cutting edge strats; but also the older strats and less optimal strats that get discovered later, but were already sub-optimal when discovered. This would be especially helpful to new players, as no one should start out trying to R-Lean or perform Ace-Level optimal play when they should be using easier strats that they are much more likely to PB with. If a player can get points one way, that should be encouraged and added to the wiki.
Also, if there are really old strats that aren't used any more, but are obviously of historic value, then those should be added. No one will tell a new speedrunner to use the really old Sterling-Era Aztec strat where you jump down and fight Jaws for a 3 minute time, but its definitely interesting to know about and why it was the best at the time.
-
One thing to keep in mind is adding general/separate information about the levels as much as possible, and not only full detailed level strats themselves. E.g: for Aztec, have a section where we describe all possible glass strats (mechanics, odds of completing, difficulty, which ones are faster, etc). Then you could have another small section for like "00 Agent strats considerations", and you give a few more tips specifically for playing 00 (shooting guards, movement, getting BA, whatever), no matter which glass strat you use. That is generally more valuable, lasts more time and is easier to maintain than having like a "00 Agent WR strat" write up.
A few things to add:
- Breakdown of control styles pros/cons
- Breakdown of game versions (US, JAP, PAL) - perhaps incorporate that google sheets into the wiki as well
- Guard death animations
- Strafing mechanisms (holding speed, walking forward vs strafing, etc)
- Lag management in general (how much lookdown/up save, lag reducing tips)
Also, are you updating speedrunwiki? Or is that a new one?
UPDATE: missed your other post about this, sorry, I think it belongs there! but keeping my comments here anyway.

Yes the-elite wiki will be for all players of all abilities, so certainly will contain all relevant strats. And irrelevant strats with historical value or which will otherwise be common "misconceptions" should definitely be mentioned, though probably more briefly.

Lag management is a good shout :)
And no worries, your post was still relevant here. The original thread was just very messy so I'm trying to compensate ;)
Edit: And the plan is to make a new one hosted here, but we'll be uploading some proof of concepts to SRW in the meantime. I think I'll work on a frigate one next weekend.

I would love to help with this, I would specifically be cool with helping up keeping and maintaining the wiki so the information stays up to date. As for what I can help with, if people made main articles for stuff I can help out with filling stuff out so it's a bit more elaborate. I'll let other people handle creating articles and starting the foundations of them so I understand what needs to be stated and written down. Keen to see all of this happen! :)

I would love to see historic strats and old ideas that may be less than optimal nowadays. I feel like there will always be value in history and old ideas with new ways of thinking may breed new trains of thought!
