Title: Keeping the rankings honest
Post by: flicker on October 05, 2020, 01:42:13 am
The Elite's proof policy is designed to be strict for times that are fairly competitive but lenient enough to allow for those to post times in circumstances that proof isn't available. We encourage all players to provide proof when possible, however we understand that people are not perfect.

When times are posted without proof, we are working within the honor system and it is essential that we all do our part to be honest without ourselves and the rankings.

A player recently acknowledged that one of their times without proof was not actually achieved, and they had the courage to confess and amend this issue with myself and the council/proof mods. I am happy for them to come forward, but slightly disappointed that this happened. In response we are removing the admitted time and freezing the player's timespage for a period of 6 months, however during this time they may still submit times with video proof directly to a rankings moderator.

It is our goal to ensure that the rankings are accurate and trusted, and maintaining that trust is critical. We are happy to correct issues when possible and try to make this an understanding community that still abides by its rules.

We wanted to be transparent about this issue and try to remind everyone that we both want to have fun and catalog our achievements as accurately as possible.

good call not banning the player for being honest, handled very well
