This spurred from a Discord conversation a while ago, when I learnt that a handful of people push the stick with their thumb from the top. When you move the N64 control stick to turn (or strafe), do you push it from the top, or from the sides? What do you think is the BETTER approach (in terms of comfort, precision with movement, medical harm, ability to play longer, etc)? I would especially be interested in hearing from the 'Pluck Grip' players.

pushing from the side could get some sick turns but I'd find it hard to resume precise strafing quickly after (if next turn is like 1 sec after)
-
wtf, I push it from the bottom.
-
-
I do from the side for up and down and top for left and right
-
With my thumb.
-
from the bottom
-
I'm with yendis for the most part
-
To be fair I don't even know how I'm pressing the buttons so
-
I do exactly what yendis does
-
how am i supposed to respond to this poll? i need help.
-
I use pluck like Dusky but i don't even hold / move the stick like he does at all so i'm even more confused
-
I'm the reverse of Yendis - use the top of the stick for up/down and sides of the stick for left/right
-
I picked top but idk if that's really accurate. I guess it's really a combination of both. Typically my thumb makes contact with pretty much the entirety of the top of the stick but it also wraps down over the side/bottom and I think it tends to come off the top of the stick when i have to make a really hard turn in any direction. Here's a handcam video I recently recorded, maybe you can see what I mean. Look at the hard right turn immediately after clipping, the tip/pad of my thumb come completely free of the stick.

with the lower half of my left thumb
-
Lol I tried to vote top and accidentally voted side, either way it's a mix
-
Depends on what kind of movement I'm doing, whether I'm playing 2.x or not, etc.
-
I just use rubber bands no hands :kappa:  #MTEGA

I do from the side for up and down and top for left and right
Oh wow, I do it the same way
Although I'll add the for diagonals, I push from the side like with up/down.
