looks really nice
maybe this will speed up the recompilation of the n64 code (YE/whiteted would know more on this)
obviously don't submit runs on it to the ranks Kappa

*decomp. But yes, this is a game changer for the project(s).

FIRST WR LETS GOOOOOOO :v
In all seriousness though, will there be a separate section for XBLA world records once they start happening?

Not here

I guess speedrun.com should do
this seems okay given my lack of control/good movement on this version

Yeah so when I open it in Xenia I can hear the game but its just black screen, controller works too. A shame that my 360 passed away last year.
I've poked around looking for help and messed with some config settings but no luck yet. It's been mentioned to change the ROV to false if you have an AMD or Intel GPU and I have done that to no avail.
I've heard some others are having the same issue so any help would be very appreciated!

Would I need an XBOX 360 to play this?

Would I need an XBOX 360 to play this?
No, it’s run on the Xenia emulator. The only thing required is a USB Controller.

A modern Xbox One controller works fine too, the newer ones have built in bluetooth https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-use-an-xbox-one-controller-on-a-pc (https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-use-an-xbox-one-controller-on-a-pc)
Also, still haven't found a solution to my problem after asking around in a few places.

i'm using DualStock4 with DS4 window for xenia, it almost play, if not like 1.2 style.

Played through most of the game on 00A. I'd say the coolest thing about the ROM is the ability to instantaneously swap from n64 graphics to the HD remake graphics with just the click of the R-button.
Best new mechanic: Button specifically mapped to toggle through items (e.g. key analyzer, camera, covert modem, datathief) without having to go into the Pause menu ever.
worst new mechanic: Seems that cameras can no longer be destroyed with a single bullet to the center. They seem to require the full amount no matter where you hit them. Makes Surface and especially Bunker super annoying.

What are these files? What exactly do I do with them?
I downloaded the Xenia emulator (it's an emulator, right?), but when I open it, it's just a white box.
Which of these files do I have to "import" into the Xenia emulator? And what exactly do I have to do from there? Do I have to "unzip" anything? (I don't have a program for that on my computer currently).
I also presume that, if I do get this game running, I'm going to need to learn how to save "save files" and "load them" into the emulator. This seems dauntingly complex, (at least, more complex than the natural save files that are in a console game).
Anyways, any help or instruction is much appreciated. 🙏🙏

https://archive.org/details/007XBLA Download this. I think you would have to unzip, it should be fine though lol. I don't know if you need to download an external program.
The blank/white screen is because you have not loaded the rom. Press file, then open (or do ctrl-o), and then go and open this in the file rom

I don't have a torrent program on this PC, nor do I really want to download one. (They are siphons on internet/CPU usage, and I don't trust it to not run in the background).
I tried downloading the 7z file but... it's just one file, and when I try to open it with Xenia, it crashes. I cannot find this so-called "Bean" file anywhere.
--
EDIT - ok, I remembered that "Torch" browser doubles as a torrent downloader. I downloaded the torrent from Alka's link above, and got this;
(https://i.imgur.com/01etJiO.png)
The "Bean" file, which seems pivotal to running the game, is nowhere to be found. Where is it?
Also, this mysterious "7z" file is only like, 231mb, whereas I've heard the game is supposed to be 1.7 GB. What exactly is going on here?
-
"Bean" is NOT a file here, it is a folder, (https://i.imgur.com/UCyIah1.png)
Open up bean, and then you should get this folder (https://i.imgur.com/vNxgJwz.png)
The game you want to run in xenia is default.xex

You have to extract the files from the 7z with an unzipper (winrar). Bean is the folder containing the game files and "default.xex" is what you want to open in Xenia.
-
omg, thank you! I didn't realize that .7z files were "zipped" files. I had never seen a 7z file before.
I installed PeaZip and was able to extract the files, resulting in my files looking more similar to Alka's earlier screenshot. (I avoid WinRar because one time it kept asking me to pay, and wouldn't work, even if I continued to click "no").
The game seems to have started up correctly on my XENIA emulator. I haven't tried plugging in an Xbox controller yet, but hopefully that works naturally too. I will still have to learn how to use save files and stuff, but this is a good start.
Thank you SHIVA!

EDIT - what **** control style should I use????????????????
got the game working, with the xbox controller, but man is this absolutely troll... I can't find a natural feeling control setting.
WHY IS THE B-BUTTON IN THE SPOT WHERE THE A BUTTON SHOULD BE :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :-\ :-X :-X
and why is the LEFT TRIGGER BUTTON... "AIM" instead of SHOOT?
this is legit unplayable
why does A not switch weapons?
ffs this is so ridic
EDIT 3 - yeah this is making me too angry, going back to playing Pokemon Snap. Glad I gave it a shot though.
EDIT 4 - why does "A" open doors, rather than "B"? sigh..............
-
I'm sure I'll be able to make a great tutorial on control style with dualshock and ds4windows remapping software, others have gotten it to be like just like 1.2
-
I understand your frustration, Goose.
The controls that are setup are exactly like the Perfect Dark XBLA and there is not really a way to get the N64 controller feel for this unless you use an N64 controller yourself.
The reason why some button functions are seperated from each other is because the Xbox controller has more buttons and Rare decided to make use of it like reloading and opening doors are different buttons, aswell as switching weapons with Y intead of A. Bear in mind that Xbox controllers ofcourse do not have the same layout as the N64. X button is the same feel for the B button on the N64 controller though for reloading weapons, but not for opening doors. It's more of modernized controls. The only control styles in this game only swaps the stick functions, strafing and looking.
The best way to play this is actually using a N64 controller. The downside is that because this game uses more buttons, the button to map for gadget switching has to be another button and doors won't open when holding a Remote Mine for whatever reason, atleast for me. The rest plays exactly the same for me with the correct mappings. I have both X and A buttons as the B button on my N64 controller for example, to be able to open doors and reload with the B button like how it should be and mapped the Xbox Y button to the A button on the N64 controller to be able to press A on the N64 to switch weapons.
The only thing is menuing will be a bit different. Hopefully it's not a problem to you as there is no way to get around with. With the mappings to the N64 controller, for menuing is B to accept instead of A.
Should be just a minor thing though. I had to map B on the Xbox controller to one of the D-pads on the N64 :nesquik: because this game uses too many buttons. So I have to press in order to go back and switch gadgets, but hopefully it's just a minor issue to you, as there's no way to get around it. But really, it's mainly the menuing which is different, but the gameplay should feel exactly the same with an N64 controller as you'd play GoldenEye 007 on the N64.
Not sure if you own a N64 USB Adapter, but if you do, the program XOutput is what I use to map the buttons and let me know if you need any help of how to set it up with the button mapping.
The button mappings I did is as follows from Xbox to N64 controller:
Left stick = All C-buttons.
Right stick = Analog stick on the N64. Also all directions.
X = B
A = B
Y = A
B = D-Pad left :nesquik: it's because a button short, but it's a minor thing really.
LT = R
RT = Z
Start = Start
Hopefully you get around to play this.

Thank you for all that great advice, speedruntrainer!
I do have an N64-USB controller, which I bought like 7 years ago but never used. Perhaps I'll try installing XOutput and getting this to work. Thank you for sharing the name of the program, many people would have left that out from their detailed post.

I found a strange visual glitch in the game
(https://i.imgur.com/ySjt3nS.png)
With cinema, 21:9, you can see through the wall on Silo. This screenshot is taken in the hall before the satellite room.
I should try this again with the door OPEN to that room, and see if the objects become loaded.

Did you find any success with this as I cannot get good stick sensitivity settings at all? I really don't wanna use a dual analogue controller with the remaster :P
-
I never actually looked into the XOutput program. I couldn't find my N64-USB controller, lol. So I just struggled immensely with the Xbox controller. I couldn't microadjust my aim at all... you can probably see it in the video I posted, especially as I'm aiming at cameras on Bunker/Surface. Plus, after like 2 days, my $20 knock off Xbox controller control stick would constantly drift to the left, which made playing even that much more difficult.
If I do ever locate my N64-USB controller, (or buy a new one), I might look into the XOutput program and have another look.
-
I would love to run this but my PC is too bad to emulate the game. This is a nice find though.

Just FYI, for those who are comfortable using an xbox 360 controller, I recommend adding xenia to Steam, running the game in Big Picture Mode, then bringing up the overlay in-game with SHIFT+TAB -> controller configuration -> left stick -> additional settings -> set to 'Aggressive'.
This is how someone would be able to strafe at max speed with a modern controller if they so desired.
