i like to think of this kind of stuff from time to time. what do you think YOU would do if this happened to you? think of it as a higher power comes to you and asks you stuff. nobody else would know about this except you two. if you killed yourself, nobody would know the reason why. it just happened. anyways, here are some scenarios.
1. would you kill yourself so that everyone else in the world would get a better life? if you killed yourself, all the poor people would get more food and stuff. ok, maybe the whole world is a bit big. would yoo do it to give, lets say, 10,000 super poor african kids a great life?
2. you are with your class or some group of friends and one of you had to die or all dies. do you think you could sacrifice yourself to let the others live or would you get someone else to do it. it could be like, god comes and asks you to kill yourself or otherwise he will kill one of the people in group in random. nobody would ever know why you killed yourself.
3. ok, maybe dying is a touchy issue. would you have sex with your father or mother for money? their memory would be erased after it so only you know about it. what kind of money would you need to do it.
ok, im a retard but maybe someone wants to answer or something. it's just sometimes cool to think of this weird stuff. of course it's easy to say here 'sure i'd do...' etc. but how do you think you would react if this really happened.
i guess if the whole world became better i would do it. but for 10k africans... meh, i dont think i care enough. i think i could sacrifice myself for people close to me. i'm not too happy with my life so i guess i could sacrifice myself for people who have it better. for the sex thing... hmm... it'd be nasty for sure but for enough money im sure i would do it. maybe 1 million for mom, 5 million for dad. hard to say. i should go see a shrink.
-
1. no
2. no, it's false
3. no
-
1. No.
2. No.
3. Yes, if it was enough money. I'd do almost anything for the right amount of money.
-
1. No, its their fault they got imperialized by rich european countries and are now poor.
2. No, I don't even have any really good friends. I wouldn't mind too much if any of them died.
3. Yes, I'm from Kentucky.
-
1.no
2.yes
3.yes, my pride can be bought.
-
1. you're gay
2. you're gay
3. gh3y
Arnie
-
1. No. 10,000 Africans are just going to have sex and make even more. They're in poverty, they should stop having sex and let themselves die out. They deserve to die, and the sooner the better. I hate those TV ads.
2. Yeah.
3. Ouch. Probably at least $10,000.
Here's another scenario.
There's a set of train tracks that branch into another set. There's a switch that controls which way the train goes at the junction (left or right). A train is approaching the junction, and you're standing at the switch. Now, there are 6 workers working on the track where it's split in two. None of them know about the oncoming train, and you're too far away to alert them. You can only throw the switch to determine which path the train takes. If you leave it, it will kill 5 workers. If you pull the switch, the train will take the other track and only kill one worker.
Do you kill the single, fully innocent worker who wasn't even in the path of danger to save the other 5?
-
i'd pulll the switch and kill the dude who is alone. sucks for him to die because of his friends stupidity though but it's better to save more people.
YE's answer for question 1 was good. africans are like "we have barely enough food and water for the family... hey, i know, lets make 20 more babies and things will be better". they are responsible for their own troubles because they are stupid and lazy and reproduce way too fast. i think i will eat a double big dinner tonight just because there are millions of people in africa who have nothing.
-
yeah I would switch the tracks too. Killing one will make one family very sad but you'll be thanked by the other 5 workers and family for being saved.
-
we're assuming the train has no incredibly loud horn then?
-
I was thinking about that too, the train conductor must be pretty lazy not to press his nifty HORN!
-
if both the 5 people and the 1 guy are unaware of the train, how would the alone guy know he was not in danger in the first place?
who cares! I don't like that specific scenario.
-
you have two kids, and some crazy guy says you HAVE to pick one to get killed. Which one do you pick?
-
I never knew YE posted in FFA.
-
meh, details like the train horn are irrelevant. the point is just that you have to make the decision.
-
got this story from snopes. probably never happened but would really suck if it did.
There was once a bridge that spanned a large river. During most of the day the bridge sat with its length running up and down the river paralleled with the banks, allowing ships to pass through freely on both sides of the bridge. But at certain times each day, a train would come along and the bridge would be turned sideways across the river, allowing the train to cross it.
A switchman sat in a shack on one side of the river where he operated the controls to turn the bridge and lock it into place as the train crossed.
One evening as the switchman was waiting for the last train of the day to come, he looked off into the distance through the dimming twilight and caught sight of the train lights. He stepped onto the control and waited until the train was within a prescribed distance. Then he was to turn the bridge. He turned the bridge into position, but, to his horror, he found the locking control did not work. If the bridge was not securely in position, it would cause the train to jump the track and go crashing into the river. This would be a passenger train with MANY people aboard.
He left the bridge turned across the river and hurried across the bridge to the other side of the river, where there was a lever switch he could hold to operate the lock manually.
He would have to hold the lever back firmly as the train crossed. He could hear the rumble of the train now, and he took hold of the lever and leaned backward to apply his weight to it, locking the bridge. He kept applying the pressure to keep the mechanism locked. Many lives depended on this man's strength.
Then, coming across the bridge from the direction of his control shack, he heard a sound that made his blood run cold.
"Daddy, where are you?" His four-year-old son was crossing the bridge to look for him. His first impulse was to cry out to the child, "Run! Run!" But the train was too close; the tiny legs would never make it across the bridge in time..
The man almost left his lever to snatch up his son and carry him to safety. But he realized that he could not get back to the lever in time if he saved his son.
Either many people on the train or his own son - must die.
He took but a moment to make his decision. The train sped safely and swiftly on its way, and no one aboard was even aware of the tiny broken body thrown mercilessly into the river by the on rushing train. Nor were they aware of the pitiful figure of the sobbing man, still clinging to the locking lever long after the train had passed. They did not see him walking home more slowly than he had ever walked; to tell his wife how their son had brutally died.
Now, if you comprehend the emotions that went through this man's heart, you can begin to understand the feelings of Our Father in Heaven when He sacrificed His Son to bridge the gap between us and eternal life.
Can there be any wonder that He caused the earth to tremble and the skies to darken when His Son died? How does He feel when we speed along through life without giving a thought to what was done for us through Jesus Christ?
-
wow, that was deep, especially since I'm religious.

there was a traffic accident here about a year ago. the truck driver made a mistake in a bend and the truck went on the opposite lane colliding with a bus. 23 people in the bus were killed and many more were seriosly injured. almost all dead were youngsters going to a ski holiday. the truck driver survived without a scratch. now after all the investigations have been done the truck driver is being accused for killing 23 people and injuring many more. that's really messed up for him.
how would you react if you were the truck driver? i really dont think i could go on living with all the guilt. my life sucks anyways so i dont feel i would have much to lose with killing myself.
-
train horns ARE necessary. If they weren't, why would we need them? They're meant so that these kind of events won't happen.
-
no, they're for when little kids make the sign to the train conductors, so the kids can hear the big noise!
to be honest, that truck driver isn't really guilty, unless it wasn't an accident. If its the weather or truck or something then its an accident. If it was his misdoing, he should feel like an ass. Otherwise, God made it happen and God does that for various reasons sometimes.
-
This topic and Alex's topic are so damn depressing. We should stop before someone kills themselves.
-
i have no idea what are his odds in the trial but i dont think he is guilty. it was really slippery the day. he had also been driving tons of hours the past few days because of tight schedules and had not been taking his regulation pauses. the investigation commission said that a driving fault he did caused him to go on the wrong lane. surely he didnt ram a bus on purpose. maybe he has a family keeping him going but i would probably see not much reason in living it it happened. i actually think the only reason i would commit suicide was if i had killed someone on accident.
-
then it was god's doing. for whatever reason, god made it happen, and so it did.
I would never commit suicide. You know those gay emo kids who commit suicide when they get bullied and stuff? I never get it why they just don't kill the chode kids instead of themselves. Who care. Both emos and bullys suck ballzorz.
-
so do goths and hippies
-
Din mor suck ballzors last night.
-
socialists and feminists even more though
-
communist works!! with lots and lots of alcohol
-
nej
-
scenario:
would you rather have your penis or your better hand cut off?
-
better hand.
-
a testicle is sacrificiable
-
sure, if that was a choice! :P
-
thats a damn tricky
-
better hand.
-
why is it tricky Goose? I mean you could get a hook instead of your better hand or something. You won't be able to substitute your dick. It's your manhood you're tlaking about man!
-
Depends on what better hand you mean. Better hand at writing, or better hand at umm, practicing?
-
what if you were 70 and have no use for your penis anymore?
I don't know, its tricky, I wouldn't want to lose either, you'd look really weird with no dick though
-
yeah, but only for yourself.
-
I guess you could get a prosthetic hand.
What if you were ambidexterous?
-
just one hand! That's what it sounds like.
-
what if you had a prosthetic hand, and it was your better one?
-
wtf is wrong with the other hand then? That must be a pretty messed up other hand if it gets outmatched by plastic
-
You got in an accident, both hands got screwed up. Only one to the point of amputaiton though.
-
Penis.
I have other uses for both my hands.
-
and you have no use for your penis!
-
That was implied, you fucking idiot.
-
The only depressing thing about this thread was reading YE and others' racist and unsympathetic comments to #1.
-
I wasn't depressed in the slightest. I have my reasons.

You messed up, this it what that message should read.
"That was implied. You'RE fuckin' MY SISTER."
Yes, and there is a difference between racism and realism.
