Learn what you're talking about first, NSPD. 1:57 sucks, NTSC or not.

A great while ago, I did some research about that lift for fun. Fun? WTF??
Ok...anyway it's possible - or to say probable - that this has been discovered centuries ago and it's not a very important thing. But as we do want to know every tiny fact about PD, we should do it. When you say this has been discovered, please tell me more details about it and also when the discovery happened, ok?
So, basically this is the thing: a normal cycle of that lift is exactly 26 seconds or very close to it. However, it seems to be 28 seconds in situations (and I don't remember anything but the most simple and basic rules anymore) where:
- You are very close to the lift or inside it
- You are inside the hangar and look at the direction where the lift is, in other words the lift is in your range of vision on the screen.
- The lift would be in your range of vision, if there wasn't
exactly one wall or a block of your view in between (as long as the object is "one", I think the cycle will be 28 secs)
So what's the point? A very good question. Aww, let's see. Maybe it would improve timing-strategies? And I think this might work on other levels too, like Maian S.O.S.
I actually tried it and what I remember, the lift functioned on a somewhat same principle. Not the same figures, but the same principle. But oh well, I just want to hear if you already knew about this and I think that's why I even posted the message.

yes oftentimes lifts are annoyingly random. i think it has to do with when u exit the cinema possibly, but they are never consistent, to the exact second, but relatively close to a certain range. of course there is always a possibility of human error in keeping track of when the door opens/closes, etc.

soo...in Maian SOS SA & A (i dunno about PA since you have to blow the saucer up and its usually there)
if you run to the lift, and right strafe, not looking at it...and then, when you turn the corner, backwards strafe, never looking at it..it should be there 2 seconds faster possibly? i have gotten a 1:57 A, which is pretty good i think for NTSC, i dunno if 1:55 or so is possible, but if you do that, it should be there faster, and you can possibly get 1:55, and good people could probably get 1:54. hmm, who knows. this might save a second on this level, or, even on the rescue levels, possibly more.
-
yeah, even i have 1:50 i think.
-
chill out man, i was guessing. it took me literally 2 times to get 1:57 and i havent played that level for a long time.
-
I had a 1:56 on PAL so meh... sub 1:50 is good for NTSC (I'm guessing) and sub 1:46 is good for PAL (I have 1:46
)..
-
yeah, even i have 1:46 i think.
-
You know, I don't have my N64 here where I am currently, so somebody else too could test this. And who knows if there would be some differences between PAL and NTSC?
-
well, i personally have never noticed it but I'm sure it would be useful. Perhaps the wr for infiltration is 2 secodns above what it could be? good. That means all levels haven't been maxed in fact, i dont think any of the levels have been maxed
. No seriously, i think there is some glitch on everylvl that will let u go farther then we are now. But back to the subject, when i finally achieve getting from the explosives are back up to the lift with out it closing 1/10 of a second before i get to it, ill try.

I think I forgot to mention this (although I think it should be pretty obvious): the cycle will be 28 seconds only if you meet the conditions for the full time. For example, if for only the half time of the cycle you meet the conditions for 28 seconds, the cycle will naturally be 27 seconds.
The ratio is really 2 seconds/26 second cycle which will result the total of 28 seconds, so the difference per a second will be less than 0.08 seconds. Kind of poor...
