Nobody truly capable of amazing new untied WRs plays properly anymore. GoldenEye is where it's at nowadays. Somehow, five years on, the game is still driving down the records, whereas PD has become stale and uninteresting. I think it's time a lot of people accepted that GE is the better game.

Post by: Ngamer on September 29, 2002, 09:41:00 pm: Uh... all a Clark-like site would really offer would be an in-depth explaination on new WRs. Longest records, WR lists, WR totals, Players of the Month, and fastest movies are all covered already. I really don't see much of a demand...

And I've said it before, everything moves in cycles. GE has been on an upswing lately, PD's time will come pretty soon. Really, if Bosshardt hadn't shown up and sparked up GE interest with his Aztec strat, I doubt we'd be in this situation right now.

Mainly because of him we all lose WRs, but dont blame him, that is competition. Dont forget John Kaleta too, he discovered this gay %#$%"$#& looking down crap. It is amazing competition is still alive after such a long time. Dont dismiss PD yet...it is far too early to say that. Bosshardt is climbing the rankings as fast as Randy did, impressive.

I think I was the first one who started the discussion: GE vs PD(right Ngamer?) And it seems I draw the right conclusion...

Now, don't get me wrong here, it's not like I'm mad at Bosshardt for sparking up some interest, I just wanted to point out how something small can start a relative landslide of competition, and swing the cycle into the opposite direction. Because if you remember correctly, it had been all PD before that.

I know you are not mad at him, I just stated generally that we shouldnt blame him. I also think it hasnt been all PD before that. Only during the whoarding period a few months ago it was pretty dead. The new aztec strat added a lot to the rising activity, along with strafing into walls, safes, looking down. And now perhaps Control too, I am sure we arent done for a while with GE. Same goes for PD, it just is a shame that the top players arent active right now.

And after all , that gay trick can be extended into PD.I have one time had a guard which opened for me the locked door on defection PA while the programmer was phoning.

Maybe we should reconsider all PD instead of just trying to do a single strat as fast as possible.There are tons of obscure parts on PD which need to be enlighted.I can see some insane discovers if a dedicated group of players just take the time to play PD differently , and not necessary top players.

Post by: Wouter Jansen on September 30, 2002, 04:11:00 pm: what PD needed was 2 identical games, for both systems. just because of that screw up, it loses about all interest for gamers who want to rise as fair as possible without needing to spend extra money and time. One PD game doesn't offer full possiblity to max out, so GE is the more heated game.

Post by: Not-so-Perfect-Dark on September 30, 2002, 04:24:00 pm: yea i agree with you guys...but we need some better players in PD..i mean not they no one here is any good, almost all of them kick my ass..but look at the top...paragon is still like #2...and when was the last he played? i see you guys are all improving, but shouldnt someone be able to take him down by now? i know he is damn good and i will probably never even make it to the top 10...but look at people like greg k....hes improving so much, i see hes at 7 & 7, time & points, and with almost every other PR he gets, he goes up a spot...i wanna see a new #1, not that our #1 isnt good...but i just wanna see what it would be like to have a new #1...ohh....and i wanna be in top 50
i will be there soon...been too busy on Infiltration PA and those other gay ones

ge = bosshardt.. so that's new strats and glitches, top players playin.. and top players playing = MORE strats / glitches

pd = a few top players playin for points and time. that's nothin new, so no more new strats and glitches will be find out..

top PD players active: me and Dark Master.. (anyone else?)

by now, im playin for points / time.. and i'll be half done when i catch Dman or EG (hopefully). why only half done? well.. it'll be like impossible to pass Phil, so i could just play for untied wr's, aka, "for fun".. i dunno about Dark Master, but EG and/or Dman are my goals. really, i dont wanna waste a whole day at a stupid level tryin to find a new strat (which can result in nothing), if i have better things to do..

Post by: Not-so-Perfect-Dark on October 01, 2002, 11:57:00 am: i read about not using computers (save state...) and how paragon used one for playing PAL or NTSC whatever it was and it was legal...so if i was to get a PAL cart i could get my times up more? especially my 4:22 Deep sea, i wanna get that up...my agent time is 30:51 which is 7 minutes off the total, but if i can knock a minute off my time, i can get pretty good i guess...blah i dont know what im talking about

Paragon had to get his hands on a PAL game to play (then he just watched the screen through his monitor, because you need to convert it to watch it on TV). So yeah, you can help your own times by getting a PAL game, but you CANNOT use an emulator on your computer.

The reason the PAL records are so good in comparison is because there is always a time better than ours that we have to strive for. When a pal player gets 1:17 on infiltration, it's worth crap points, so they have to try very hard and play for longer to get 1:16. When an NTSC player gets 1:14, it's worth 100 points, so why try harder? Even though 1:13 is relatively easy no ones goes for it. NTSC have nothing more to work for so their times stay mediocre.

They will change soon though......
