Title: Post New WRs Discussion here.
Post by: Djie on January 21, 2003, 07:32:00 pm
Yeah I guess we need this topic in PD too. I see Karl's still playing, or just unwhoarding/adding times to his page, aka I'd like to see his 1:16 Air Base A vid.

There isn't one, Shade. I can show you scrolling time proof if you like?

"whatever, its not worth it."

Why is that exactly? because he can proove that he got the time? isn't that what you want?...

I wanted to see a vid, scrolling proof is not worth it. Congrats to Karl anyway.

I think he knows he got the time, he just wants to see his run.

Shade: I do know karl made a 1:17.55, you might be able to get that from somewhere (overcash most likely), that'll definitely prove karl able of the 1:16.

It's not about proof, it's about seeing what strat I used and stuff like that.

I did it in front of Greg Lewis, I think it was something like 1:16.71 or something.

Before that I got a few runs that were 1:16.93, 1:17.03 and 1:17.14 and all with stuff ups.

Took me half an hour for 1:16.

I used the same strat as in shade's vid, in every way possible. However, I noticed that shade lost a bit of time with his camspy release. He released it before the left turn, but I do it when I'm perfectly inline with the turn. So yeah......plus I do it smoother.

I can see 1:15 being done but it would take too long for me.

for 1:15 u need a perfect run, almost impossible. and gj on the 1:16, karl.

i was just thinking.. when u have to blow urself on the dragon, do u guys (shade/karl) get a boost from it or not? the way i did 1:17, i almost died and went through the flames. wouldnt be a way that u could just pass in front of the dragon, still blowing up it, getting some kind of boost? and i mean perfect boost, not a side-front boost. maybe im stupid asking this, but this just popped up on my mind.

thx for the little tip Karl, didnt notice I was a bit too far. I actually replayed today, scored a 1:17.20 in about 5mins (first close stewardess).

Yes Greg the dragon "boost" me, its not really significent.

As for 1:15, I believed it was possible, but now I'm certain , since I've beaten my best Drugspy release which is now 33.98. Perhaps I'll try to do it to retake my sweep...perhaps not. Karl tieding me kinda frustrated me, but what can I do, the guy has the skill.

I try and get as much a boost as possible using the dragon. I run on a line that makes the dragon blow up when I'm as far away as possible (just slightly in front of it though). Then I move into the flames slightly when I'm just past it.

Also, something shade didn't do in his 1:16 vid is run against the brown door the lady opens. It does save a few tenths if you keep strafing against it before you open it.

good to know bout the dragon thing.. i might get 1:16 someday (:lol  yeah right)

and about the brown door thing.. hum.. i remember that i did it a few times (most on PA), but in all of them, i got stuck on the door, and didnt let it open. so it doesnt work for me.. and still, dont save much time, imo.

The door thing saves at least .3

And the reason it didn't work was because the lady didn't speak fast enough. On agent she has to talk as soon as possible because if you run against the door for a certain time it doesn't open.

.3, nice. i'll try to remember that when i play AB again. but how exactly do u do it? u just enter in strafe and keep with it, or do u stop strafing for a while then strafe again?

Post by: Boss on January 23, 2003, 06:21:00 pm
What I do anyway is strafe just to the side of the door than then into it just before I'm able to open it.  It works fine.

Bryan, is that the strafing into the door thing that you invented
Title: Post New WRs Discussion here.
Post by: Boss on January 23, 2003, 07:22:00 pm
I didn't invent strafing into door stuff.  I thought PD players did that anyway, but I was wrong once I started watching some vids. 8o

I'd be lying if I said no one knew that it was helpful before Bryan came.

ALWAYS people have strafed into the infiltration brown lift door. I did it because I knew it would bring me out at full speed, surely everyone did. It's quite sad that we didn't put it to use.

Now... we're all into strafing into the side of a safe, and the side of a lift or a door itself. And refraining from changing strafes. We've come a long way.

About my 1:31

it was a smooth run, 26.7 objective 1 dissappears, 42.8 into the lift, 55.6 second lift close, had to kill both guards, kinda lost a fraction on the ship, but overall I don't see how 1:30 is possible.

gj there, dman.. good to see that u play pd once in a while. according to Stephen, his 1:31 was a very good start but a '0:55' end. which i highly doubt, or else 1:30 was cake. but his end wasnt that good, so a very good start plus a very good run (or lucky as ur 0:53, dman), might give u 1:30. but yes, very hard to be achieved..

My Air Base WR is taped and it had:

41.4 Open Door
104.0 Press Lift
119.? Lift Shut
Basic finish

QB, was your 47 taped?

Yes, I always tape. It's lame in comparison to most of my :48's though.

I'll remember that. If I ever want you to shut up I'll just say "shouldn't you have your mouth taped, as you always tape?":b

Haha, same...I saw the WR topic and I was like "Untied WAR! SA..."...

Well I knew straight away, mainly because he'd been talking to be about getting it for a few weeks :lol

The thing I find funniest is that he wouldn't have any good times on War SA/PA if it weren't for me.....ask him yourself if you don't believe me :)

Dman, 158 is not max. It's possible to make 113 lifts and the do exist. Mine was a 116.0 lift and i made it comfortably. Even though it's possible to be there 2 seconds faster. Meanwhile i lost a second on my finish IMO. Not my fault, i got shot up.

Have you seen my vid?
Title: Post New WRs Discussion here.
Post by: SXR on February 18, 2003, 04:31:00 pm
Yes, I saw it, but quite a long time ago, so I don't remember.

Let's compare TTs:

At door: 18.5 after ammo messages disappears (I kill the guy, and stay in the middle)

At first of 2 doors before the bed: 29.5 (I kill all 4 guys here, but I shoot while going backwards).

Objective complete disappears: 35.8/37.2 (depends if I destroy it quick or not)

Back at door: 40.0 on good runs, 42.5 on worst (hope for the door to be open)

Hangar door: 55.5 on best runs, 56.5 normally

Last lift closed: 1:40.08 on my run

Very normal ending.

I had lift shut at 139.5 and the ending was abysmal. Beyond my control.

I would have had 56.0 brown door but so much better can be achieved. Imagine pumping up to here, never walking forward or going off target to shoot people. 53 is possible. I've had 54 but the lift was terrible, don't think it even came properly. The best part of my run was from the 1st lift to the 2nd. Flawless.

That's all i know.
