Well, the first thing i have to say is that the PDE is not what it used to be, and to be honest its slowly dying. The majority of the elite are inactive and only a handful are posting new PR's.
Take for example my rivalry, we started off brilliantly, with at least 2 new pages to read every day, but now its lucky if we have one person other than me post, don't get me wrong some of the RR's are hard to get but to me the Smackdown Rivalry is dying slowly, due to lack of interest, and i can say the same about the PDE.
I remember a little less than a year ago this place had tonnes of acitivity, people PR'ing every damn day. Hell....even i had some sort of interest in the games, however, now it bores the hell out of me, just like a lot of people. One of the main reasons is due to the release of the gamecube, which most people have bought and are now playing in a more active elite than this, namely TS2. By the way is that worth buying?
Another thing is that the POM seems to involve the same people with a few occasions some new geezer popping up. I personally think that this (the elite) is dying? No one other than a handful want to play.....I honestly can't see anyone knocking Karl off of the top without using two systems. Another point is that people like NSPD and Iggy have suddenly have risen up very high in the ranks, because no-one hardly in that group that they passed plays. Don't get me wrong i would love this elite to continue with but with less and less players playing it will just become 10 people trying to be #1 instead of the majority of the elite attempting to reach that feat. I do believe however that the PDE will once again be blessed with activity just like GE has. Anyway those who are playing....Keep it Up! Just post your thoughts on the matter, and don't be a jerk and try to flame me.

GEE...going stong!
-
I think it has just about run its course. There are few left that can (or desire to) compete with the top players now, so unless they all start playing again, it will probably slowly shrink down to nothing.
I dunno though. This game was pretty old already when I started playing it a few months short of a year ago, so maybe out-of-touch video game fans like me will keep joining. In any event, I'll hopefully never touch this game again.
I'm not big on the new game systems, but I've played some Halo on Xbox. I'm leaning towards buying one, but only because I know they can be hooked up for up to 16 simultaneous players. If, by chance, Gamecube could do that, I would probably buy one and get into "TS2." Yeah...watch out.
-
yea, hell i was pr'ing madstyle not long ago. i got stuck right around the 2 hour barrier, then like the week i broke it, i got all the way down to 1:55.02 or whatever i am at now. then i got into TS2, which is actually fun, unlike this game. although it involves luck in a lot of the leagues/challenges. but still, get the hang of it, and it beats PD any day. even TS2 elite is dying, there are all these players, but not many at the boards. i tend to be the most active at the boards, because i have no life and i post all day there. but anyways, join TS2! PD is a thing of the past. maybe when everyone quits here, i will sneak in some PRs and break 1:50.00 because i know its not that hard...enough talk, im out!
-
Bleah, TS2 is fun, but GE/PD own it. There is way to much luck while competing. And the elite is kind of corrupt.
-
Yeah I like that in the PDE where you can be seconds off of the wr and still get (a lot) of points. Unlike in the GEE, you gotta get withing like 5 seconds to get anything at all. I would play more but something is wrong with my tv/controller/n64/me/whatever. I can only get :20 Bunker A, and :20+ for Archives A, just to name a few.
-
Conformity = good. Buy TS2. Join us. Have fun. Play. Play. Play.
-
it's not dying. i'll tell you that.
-
NSPD the ts2 elite is far from dying. but most of us are 16-18 and have january exams so this month is just a little quiet. bring on february and it will be back to normal
BTW quiet still means 100 posts a day compared to pd's 30 or so
-
I look into the future and see... emptyness
oops looked too far into the future
I look less far in the future and see... Matt taking over PD with his NTSC! yay
-
That's exactly what ruined this game. The gay programmers at Rare.
-
w00t, I found a hidden message!
-
Plum: What's that about messages? Haha. And TS2 will be dead long before GE/PD.
-
Yeah with people like bosshardt and wouter i think the GE elite will outlive both of the other 2, ts2 and PD...
-Adam
-
TS2 will die before the other two i will admit. but i plan to enjoy the ride.
shut up tyler
-
Good job Wouter
-
here is my month plan...starting today until end month.
look up porn
eat breakfast
play eternal darkness
beat eternal darkness
play ntsc
....
...
....
.......
get POM. yay.
-
too bad there's 2 systems
-
It's not dieing.
It's dead.
-
*nods*
-
omg it so isn't. don't be daft.
WRs happen like...often. 15 - 25 / month i guess. post sim threat era.
-
15-25 post karl? unlikely... more like... 5-10 a month, pdelite is like.. on life support or something, pretty shitty life support... but it works
-
The elite is slow. Not dead. Just slow. The TS2 elite is also slow (but that's cos of exams or whatever). I think the PD elite was better than the TS2 elite. SMB was quite good (mainly because I was 4th
).

Even though its plainly obvious that you enjoy this game, you sure as hell have to admit that it does suck compared to games like TS2. I mean, with PD, I actually stopped having fun on a lot of stages. TS2 on the other hand, is funny as hell. I mean, there is a great deal of different challenges that you can play, and its not all just get to the end as fast as possible. There are levels like that, shooting levels, a mix of both, multiplayer style levels, retro games... the list goes on. I love the game if you haven't guessed already.
Well, I hope that people can still find fun in this game, I bet I would if I had NTSC, but I don't, and I also don't intend to get it, since NTSC sucks.

TS2 is more "fun." You are correct in saying that, Phil. But, it's pretty dinky for competition, as almost all of the records have a great deal of luck involved, not to mention restarts. There isn't many levels in PD where you can get 95 points first completion.
-
unless you are me and you've always thought ntsc-er's times sucked on levels they are advantaged at and are determined to do so...
ie MBR 127 first completion and 15 minutes.
-
renem: "as almost all of the records have a great deal of luck involved, not to mention restarts...."
i do know its a lot of luck, which is weird, because shadowzero has most of the WRs...he must be damn lucky (along with a very lot of skill, obviously)
and yes, there is a very lot of luck on most levels, i agree, as most of my good times were luck based, like snow business, nikki jinki bricky, etc. but you guys do forget, there still are levels there that dont involve any luck, like bricking it, pane in the neck, etc, and not just those, but more too. there is also a lot of luck in perfect dark, just not nearly as much...i still like perfect dark, and to be honest, the only two reasons im not playing is 1) im too lazy to keep unhooking PS2 and putting N64, when i get too pissed off at PD anyways, and 2) im doing good on TS2, why stop now?
-
Well, I'm glad I quit PD as it was starting to become an obsession. I have a new addiction now... its called Superfly Lady...
Phil
-
You are totally unaware of SZ's playing time, NSPD.
-
yes, im sure he has a lot of playing time in, and so do i, but not quite as much...im sure i will have like the 2nd most by the end of the month at this rate (i play like 6+ hours a day...and thats on weekdays, after school...wait til weekends)
-
I can get good scores (90+ points) on a lot of levels where I hold the wr in a few tries. So if you think your ranking place is reflected only by luck and play time Tyler, then you're damn wrong.
Also, you need tons of luck to succeed in PD and GE too.
-
The order of luck needed to be good:
1 - TS2 - (ranked 50th)
2 - PD - (ranked 25th)
3 - SMB - (ranked 4th)
Somehow I get the impression I'm not very lucky.
-
Some luck factors to follow:
PD: Investgation is more luck-based than the entire TS2.
GE: Let's pray for some boosts... and for the hostages to escape...and to get a good flight recorder... You get the idea.
TS2: (Mainly arcade league): Need good bot spawns, have to rely on your team-mates for some levels.
-
yea, TS2 isnt really as much luck as it seems...especially compared to investigation, damn bot. ohh yea, i should unwhored my times before i quit this place, i have 3 WRs, 2 are untied...im gonna wait til tomorrow i guess.
-
Unwhoard now gimp.
-
Jim, everything you said is pathetic. The luck in investigation is nothing. In TS2 you need good spawns, good enemy locations, good teamates, and on some occasions, enemies that only hit you at certain times.
I'm not saying TS2 doesn't require skill, I'm just saying that it is more luck based than anything this world has ever knowen.
I also didn't say anything about being 1st being based on luck and play time.
Suck it.
Right down.
-
Good point about enemies not hitting you in TS2, I've never had to hope for that in GE/PD....
-
Renemesis, I am like SZ in that I can get good scores on my specialist stages at any time I please. Its stupid to base everything on luck. Also, Investigation is the most @#%$ up speed idea in a videogame yet...
Phil
-
The best idea ever was to make doors not open enough to go through when you press B at them. Rare...champions.
-
You can't even compare Investigation to TS2. And you are probably the most retarted person I've come across today. For the eight trillionth time, I never said all your scores were based on luck.
-
I like Frigate.
-
it bores the hell out of me, just like a lot of people. One of the main reasons is due to the release of the gamecube, which most people have bought and are now playing in a more active elite than this, namely TS2. By the way is that worth buying?
Indeed, and yes, it's worth buying.
-
thats right man!
-
I really hope you guys did beat the game because it tells you that Perfect Dark is FOREVER. Its not gonna die anytime soon i'll tell you that.
-
This thread is two months old. Please do not resurrect two-month-old threads without good reason. You might get a temporary (i.e. just long enough to make you lose interest and wander away) ban.

half of the topics on the front page are probably like 2 months old anyway.

Yeah, but this guy reeks of n00b, and he didn't even post anything worth reading.
