...the official rules for the Perfect Dark (and GoldenEye) Elite?
EVER?
We just assumed that word would get around.
1. To join, set up a times page as directed in the How To Join FAQ. Submit your real name, screen name, email address and times page URL to Ngamer to be considered for submission. You will be added within 24 days.
2. Enter "N/A" for levels you have not yet completed. These will count as 20:00 towards your total. If you have completed a level but your best time is greater than 20:00, you must record your best time and not the default twenty minutes. Not doing so comes under the heading of "cheating".
3. All players are eligible for entry. There is no restriction on your ability or how much of the game you have to have completed beforehand (though it should be noted that beating the whole game with all the cheats is worth zip on the rankings!)
4. All times must be attained on an unmodified (apart from the Expansion Pak) Nintendo 64 console with a standard copy of Perfect Dark for your region, using an official Nintendo 64 joypad. They must be obtained in the Solo Missions. The time you should record for a given mission is the one that appears on the screen that pops up at the end of the mission. NO emulation, NO GameShark, NO autofire pads, NO submitting "failed times" (i.e. times you should've bagged but didn't) and NO "accounting for the rounding error".
5. If your times are impressive you may be called upon to provide video or photographic proof of your achievements. Videos must be sent to a proof moderator within a specified time frame, usually of the order of three months.
6. Cheating will not be tolerated. Cheating comes in two categories.
6a. Deliberately submitting false/impossible times either directly to the PDE or on AIM, GameFAQs, the PDE message board or elsewhere. This happens when a claim comes up that is frankly unbelievable, and which the claimant has no hope or way of proving besides a miracle. This is grounds for instant and PERMANENT dismissal. We mean it.
6b. Claiming a time that is between "particularly difficult" and "very difficult to believe", or a lot of hard times in quick succession. Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof. Usually you will be asked to provide video proof. If you do not, you will be removed until you do. If you were lying, then that'll be forever. If you do not have access to a VCR, then that's your problem, not ours.
7. Ignorance and laziness in the forms of poor HTML and typographical errors will not be tolerated. Accidentally entering times which mess up the rankings page will result in your removal from the rankings until such time as your problem is fixed. If that's never, that's fine by us.

Here's one you might want to add.
Adding time's before you get them, should be considered cheating.
-
bcks, i know of at least one very trusted GE player that entered in times a day or two before they actually got them.....not me though
with regards to 5b....ban JBC
-
I don't really agree with #2. Beating a PA level in 21 minutes is better than never beating it at all. They shouldn't be penalized. Other than that, looks good.
-
the default time shouldnt be 20:00, basically......it should something degrading like 50 hours, to encourage people to play more
-
if u have not completed a level, do not put a 20:00, put N/A for any uncompleted level. if u have completed the level, put that time on the page.
-
-
-
but N/A get converted to 20:00 anyway.....which is why karls total time for GE says 6:40:00 for each difficulty total, instead of (N/A)*20....
-
Nice double post, Harvey.
Yay, dja vu.

, good idea.
-
N/A is preferred. less ambiguous, if someone goes to ur times page they will know which levels u have not beaten. and which levels u got a 20:00 exact time on...
-
I think if anyone scored 20:00 on a level, they really shouldn't even be here
-Chavez, vete al diabolo mama huevo!-
-
I think you are gay.
-
Everyone has gayness in him.
All uncompleted levels should be N/A or I SUCK / I AM LAZY
-
I think I pretty much cover the first 3 on the How to Join page. Well... maybe not the third, I guess there are still a few people who aren't sure if their times are "good enough" to enter the Elite. I believe I pretty much state #5 on the Proof page... And 7, well, you either obey that one, or learn it the hard way. 4 and 6, though, those should probably be put up in writting somewhere.
As for the "20 minutes isn't enough!" debate... Ah, does that ever bring back the memories. I'm going to hold to the same stance I had nearly three years ago. If you've got a time over 20 minutes, just play the level again, get under 15, and stop complaining. And it's less of an issue these days, since nothing over 19 minutes is going to get you a point, anywas.
-
Actually, everyone should replace all times above 5:00 with "I SUCK"
-
Even those poor NTSC suckers on Deeps Sea SA? Or was that 4 minutes? Can't remember.
-
Shut up Harvey you fuking asswhole.
-
yeah, good call sam. this post ought to equal a webpage for us... with slight modifications.
-
Do you realize that you made another topic with a title that trails off into the subject. The same thing you griped about in a seperate topic many months back?
Booooooooooooooooo!
Seriously, though...those rules sound pretty good to me. That's pretty much what's been followed (or what should have been followed, anyways) for the last 2-3 years.
-
sigh....oh boy
-
Hah, food. I mentioned the same thing about the topic title to greg and karl when i saw the topic first.
Sam, I feel i can sleep at night now that you've made this topic. Thanks

Food: if I could, I would've fit the whole thing into the subject bar but there just wasn't room.
Karl: have you EVER said anything nice about ANYBODY in your whole life?
-
Yeah, he told me he loved me about an hour ago.

Awwwwwwww!

OMG you fu.cking faggots. I said I'd never post here again, and I did mean it at the time. It's not me posting here, can't you @#%$ read that it says -Matt at the end of the posts. I can't @#%$ help it if Matt posts while I'm asleep and does it through my name.
OMG no I posted here, my @#%$ life must be empty and sh.it cause there's nothing else for me to do but waste my time.
In conclusion, check the name at the end of messages first before assuming I posted.

yeah, I was wondering why nobody noticed that Matt posted, same happened in the other topic he posted in.
-
I remember when discombobulator and I each had about 5 times with 19:59.....people got suspicious about that time. It was lame to be penalized (pointwise) for beating the level, so we thought we deserved more than 0 points for beating the level on PA others couldn't do.
-
Oh, really? I guess I didn't remember that. It's certainly good of you to remind us, though. Now, just let me slowly reach for the keyboard, and...

I was only joking, Sam.
